The Morning News Express

WFMD

The Morning News Express is your weekday wake-up call from 6–9am, led by the one and only Morning Mayor, Bob Miller. You know the voice. The laugh. The stories. The legend. It’s the reason Frederick gets up and gets informed. Bob’s been the king of morning talk in Frederick for 30+ years, holding down the WFMD fort for 27 of them. A proud Frederick County native, his roots run deep—son of the legendary local vet Doc Miller, raised on a 180-acre beef farm, and yes, he really did show cattle across the country. (Moo included.) His resume is impressive, his humor even better. Senior class president and class clown at Walkersville High (Class of 1980), Bob also helped launch the school’s first-ever football team—the gritty “Mean 19.” Off the mic, Bob’s a proud husband to Lynda (30+ years strong), a dad to Erin and Bryan, and a super-proud granddad to little Kaelyn. Bob’s known radio was his calling forever, with stops at major stations in Baltimore and D.C. But Frederick is home, and every morning he brings his voice, wit, and community-first perspective to Free Talk 930 WFMD. He’s joined by great local guests all week to cover what’s happening in and around Frederick County, plus national reporters from Fox News Radio to break down what’s happening across the country. As Bob’s mom says: “At least now I can finally turn him off.”

Jeff Holtzinger, Candidate for Frederick County Executive

🏢 ICYMI: Frederick County Executive Candidate Jeff Holtzinger Calls Into the Morning News Express Republican candidate for Frederick County Executive Jeff Holtzinger called into Bob Miller on the Morning News Express with more to say about Frederick County's handling of data center development. This time, Holtzinger focused his criticism on County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and her administration's handling of the Critical Digital Infrastructure Overlay Zone. Holtzinger argued that the administration hired a public relations firm to help promote the overlay proposal to Frederick County residents, and contended that county leaders changed course after the proposal failed to receive the public response they expected. His message to the current administration was straightforward: he believes county leaders need to acknowledge where they got it wrong and take responsibility for how the process was handled. The county has described its approach differently, saying its data center policies have evolved in response to public input, changing industry conditions and concerns about the impact of development. The county subsequently paused new data center applications, and on Sept. 14, Fitzwater rejected the proposed DRRA for the Frederick Digital Campus and extended that pause until July 1, 2027. 🎙️ Hear Holtzinger explain why he believes the county's approach to the data center overlay went wrong, why he's critical of the administration's public messaging, and what he believes county leaders should do now. 🎧 Missed it?
