As someone who grew up in Trinidad, Colorado, I was deeply disappointed by this episode’s portrayal of both the town and Dr. Stanley Biber. The host not only misrepresents Dr. Biber’s legacy but also makes light of his family, people who have contributed immensely to our community. The Biber family is known locally for their compassion, intelligence, and service. To mock them is not just inaccurate, it’s disrespectful to a legacy that helped shape Trinidad for the better. Even more troubling is the implication that Dr. Biber was a psychopath. There is absolutely no basis for this claim. Dr. Biber was never diagnosed or portrayed as such by any credible source. In fact, he was widely respected as a pioneering surgeon and a deeply compassionate physician who provided care to all of Las Animas County. His groundbreaking work in gender confirmation surgery brought international recognition to Trinidad, but more importantly, he treated every patient with dignity, regardless of their background or ability to pay. Unfortunately, the podcast suffers from poor research and disorganized delivery. The host struggles to read her own notes, and personal opinions are frequently passed off as facts. If you're going to take on complex historical subjects and real lives, it’s essential to get the story right, and to treat those stories with the respect they deserve.
