Dani and Alex finally manage to get back together for a bumper episode with all your favourites: Alex has a new pen, and Dani’s lusting after a new watch and has just bought some old books. Naturally, this leads to a deep discussion on the ephemeral nature of modern storage media, the perceived value of domain names, colonialism in the age of the internet, and, er… Kim Kardashian?

Dani and Alex correct a number of factual issues from the last episode, before reviewing Alex’s recently-released music/writing collaboration, Remote Transmission. Dani’s viral tweet sparks musings about the nature of attribution on the internet, and the influence of money. Speaking of the internet, Alex has been making a website and enjoying the features offered by modern CSS.

Cultural/Life Expansion

It's great to listen in on a friendly conversation that can broaden one's cultural sensibilities and provide fun thoughts on how we live in the world. Fantastic stuff, keep it up!

Totally worth a listen

A Brit and Aussie who met while living in Japan, now catch up with bi-weekly chats from their new homes in California and Sweden. Delightful conversations between two interesting people with contrasting personalities and life experiences. Recommended.

Two Nerds, Talking

As noted by another reviewer, these gents really nail the “Two Dudes Talking” format. However, I think what makes this show so interesting is not just down to their cultural backgrounds (UK/Australia/Japan/Sweden/USA). When their interests do overlap, they will of course geek out, and I always find it entertaining to listen to enthusiasts on any topic.

However, I think the most interesting discussions occur when the Venn diagram of their personalities *doesn’t* overlap, because almost always, I learn something new in the process. It helps that these guys are both quite insightful, but in differing ways: where one is erudite the other is worldly-wise, which provides many opportunities for analyzing a topic from multiple interesting angles. (I’ll let them decide which of them is which.)

It is these perspectives on various topics — but also how they map to their real lives — that make the show shine. Unlike a lot of other podcasts, these two gentlemen have lived around the world, so the show is at its best when they are discussing not just their own perspectives on a topic, but how it maps to their varied experiences.

More, please.
