    Starting & Selling a Business with Sarah, (ex) The Finders Keepers

    Sarah, co-founder of The Finders Keepers, a market for creative small businesses, reflects on her 16-year journey. The market, which started in 2008, provided a platform for artists and designers to showcase and sell their products, fostering a sense of community and supporting the handmade movement. Despite the challenges of starting a business, Sarah and her partner's passion for design and community drove their success.   The market started with 20 stalls and grew organically to 100-200 stalls, driven by high demand from both customers and storeholders. The initial marketing strategy relied on traditional methods like street posters, flyers, and PR, before social media became prevalent. The business faced significant challenges during COVID and the floods, but the founders were determined to preserve the community and legacy of the market.   Sarah recounts the challenges of running a business, including the stress and burnout that can result. They describe the emotional struggle of letting go of a business they were deeply passionate about, likening it to a grieving process.     Do we still trust the internet?

    The internet's impact on small businesses is evolving, raising questions about trust and human connection.
