Robby Plemmons: You Get What You Give

A hit song says you get what you give. Paul agrees, though what you get may surprise you. In 2 Corinthians 9, he shows how God stirs a generous heart before anyone moves, and how his grace is enough for the farmer who sows on a settled decision, not reluctantly and not under compulsion. So what do you get when you give? More seed to sow, and more thanks rising to God. All of it rests on one inexpressible gift, Jesus Christ. Every gift begins with God.

Jim McAndrew: Joyful and Generous Giving

Money is a sensitive subject, and Jim McAndrew takes it on directly. A ruling elder who is not paid to be here, he preaches 2 Corinthians 8:1-15 and asks why the Macedonians, in severe poverty, begged for the chance to give. His answer is the grace of Jesus Christ, who was rich and became poor for our sake. We give because of what the Lord has given us, and giving turns out to be a gift to the giver too. Three points: the how, the why, and the gift of giving.

Robby Plemmons: Grief That Leads to Life

Nobody puts a root canal on their bucket list, and most of us treat repentance the same way. We put it off until the pain forces our hand. In 2 Corinthians 7:2-16, Paul shows why that is backward. Godly grief and worldly grief can look identical from the outside, but one leads to life and the other to death. Notice what Paul is glad about: not that the Corinthians hurt, but that the hurt led them to repentance. And if you are in Christ, God's love for you is settled.

Brian Tsui: 2026 Men's Retreat — A Desperate Father Before Jesus

"If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." A father says it to Jesus after the disciples have already failed his sick son. Every other hope has run out. Rev. Brian Tsui points out how gently Jesus answers him. He does not shame the man. He fans a smoldering wick, and the father's reply becomes one of the most honest prayers in the Bible: "I believe; help my unbelief." Rev. Tsui says that is not weak faith. It is dependence. Then the boy looks dead, and Jesus takes him by the hand and lifts him up. Rev. Tsui calls it the great reversal of the gospel, and he closes with what Jesus told the disciples afterward about prayer. Rev. Brian Tsui teaches Mark 9:14-29 at the 2026 Men's Retreat for CrossPoint Presbyterian Church (PCA) and Jordan Valley Church. This is a retreat session, not a Sunday sermon. CrossPoint gathers Sundays at 10:00 AM at 4199 Kilby Rd, Park City, Utah.

Brian Tsui: 2026 Men's Retreat — God at Work in Our Trials and Suffering

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds." Rev. Brian Tsui calls it one of the most annoying texts in Scripture on first read. Trials are hard enough without a command to enjoy them. But James is not piling on. He writes as a pastor to believers scattered by persecution, and the word he uses for testing comes from refining gold. A refiner watches the fire closely and skims off the impurities until the pure metal shows. The gold God is after is steadfastness. Rev. Tsui names three ways a trial makes us want to quit: anger at God, blaming ourselves, and walking away. Then he tells the story of Horatio Spafford and the hymn "It Is Well with My Soul." Rev. Brian Tsui teaches James 1:1-4 at the 2026 Men's Retreat for CrossPoint Presbyterian Church (PCA) and Jordan Valley Church. This is a retreat session, not a Sunday sermon. CrossPoint gathers Sundays at 10:00 AM at 4199 Kilby Rd, Park City, Utah.

Robby Plemmons: The Temple Of The Living God

"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers." Paul writes it to a church whose love for him has grown cold. Someone else has captured their affections. Someone else is setting the direction of their lives. That kind of yoke almost never feels like bondage. It feels like getting what we want. No one forced Edmund to walk to the Witch's house in Narnia. He went for a sweet treat. But Paul does not answer with a rule. He answers with a promise. "We are the temple of the living God." A holy God has chosen to live in the midst of his people. So we cleanse ourselves, not to earn his presence, but because he has already come. And wherever you go, you do not go alone. Rev. Robby Plemmons preaches 2 Corinthians 6:14–7:1 at CrossPoint Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Park City, Utah. We gather Sundays at 10:00 AM at 4199 Kilby Rd, Park City.

Robby Plemmons: Now Is the Time

Paul pleads with the Corinthians not to receive the grace of God in vain. "Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2, ESV). This is God's appointed moment, not someday. Paul shows what a life shaped by grace looks like: endurance in suffering, strength in weakness, "having nothing, yet possessing everything." Then he opens his heart to a church that wounded him and asks them to widen theirs. A guarded heart cannot open itself. Christ opens it through the Word, the sacraments, and prayer. Now is the time. Robby Plemmons, CrossPoint Presbyterian Church, Park City UT. 2 Corinthians 6:1-13.

Robby Plemmons: Jesus Took Your Place

We all wrestle with "I don't belong here." Paul's answer in 2 Corinthians 5:11–6:2 isn't a pep talk. It's the gospel: Jesus took your place at the cross so you could take your place at God's table. Not as a hired hand trying to prove yourself. As a son or daughter who's already been accepted. That changes everything.
