Furness Show 5-27: Daniel Kramer, Ty Okada and a new bill for the NCAA

Daniel Kramer, MLB.com joins us from Sacramento to preview the final game of the Mariners' series with the A's. Ian dives into the pitching situation and what we're seeing there...especially with the piggyback. Senator Maria Cantwell and Senator Ted Cruz have - against all odds - come together to sponsor a bill to 'fix college sports'. Ian takes you through the details and what stands out to him. Is there a situation where we could see a team actually kicked out of a conference? We look at the history behind some teams. We listen back to Ty Okada, Seahawks Safety who sat down with Ian at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center yesterday. Ian admires his ability to work with those he's competing with for a starting job. The gametime for the Apple Cup is set...and it's for Sunday, September 6th. Ian is sick of the excuse of being "seen" as a reason for scheduling certain games. He does like the Sunday scheduling, though - Jess does not. We also get into observations from Ian regarding the OTAs he was able to witness yesterday. September 6th will be a double header in college football and the Apple Cup is one of the games. Who does Ty Okada sound like? We have some fun comparisons. Did Jalen Milroe get better throughout last season? Ian also revisits the new bill that could change college sports. We check in on the text line and talk to Dick Fain! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Furness Show 5-21: Eddie Olczyk, Eno Sarris, Corbin Smith

Ian did not commit a sports sin last night, abstaining from the NBA. There's plenty to talk about with the Mariners, specifically with JP Crawford making his own decision to move to third base.  Eddie Olczyk, National NHL Analyst joins Ian to give us a look at the NHL playoffs as a whole and where the Kraken are heading in their future. Edzo says Seattle needs a star, and they don't have one right now.  Mariners and piggyback!  JP Crawford is willing to move positions to stay with the Mariners. That speaks a lot about him. Ian talks about what it really means. JP should be celebrated for this. Who should be the backup catcher?  Eno Sarris, The Athletic joins Ian to give his thoughts on Colt Emerson's debut, as well as JP Crawford's flexibility to move to third base. JP deserves his flowers for his bat, regardless of what we've seen in the decline defensively. Eno also addresses the potential damage that bringing up players 'too early' can do. Of course, we have to talk about "piggybacking" with pitchers. Finally, we have to talk about Mason Miller and the Athletics.  The Daily Power Play!  Corbin Smith, Emerald City Spectrum joins us to give us some perspective on the NFL schedule release and what it means for the Seahawks. There's no such thing as a perfect schedule, but this worked out pretty well for Seattle. Two of the final three on the road isn't great, but Ian likes the collegiate feel of it. What can Riley Mills do for this team? We also delve into the running back situation, as well as the defensive backfield.  Checking in on the Talkbacks and Texts!  Crosstalk with Softy! Furness Show 5-20: Mariners miscues, John Canzano and the NBA woes

The Mariners just blew it last night and while Ian acknowledges that we might not know everything that went into the decisions that were made, we're allowed to be critical. It's a bad look that Dan Wilson doesn't know the rules. Dan Wilson and Bryce Miller both responded to last night's game and we take a listen to what they had to say. Why take Bryce out when he did? Luis Castillo is too valuable to be a reliever. A wild card spot is not good enough for the Mariners this year. John Canzano, Bald Faced Truth joins Ian to talk about all of the horrible coaching and managing decisions he's seen throughout his career. Sports are supposed to be interesting. He gives us the truth behind what's going on with Tom Dundon and the Trailblazers. How and why did Adam Silver let this happen? John fills us in on the "new Pac-12" and what's going on with the Mountain West lawsuit. We also hear from Iowa State's AD, who says we should all break away from these new 'power conferences'. The realignment we're continuing to see in college football remains greedy. The power plays we're seeing are ruining what makes the sport great and Ian misses the true competition. In The Daily Power Play, Ian tells you why you should be paying attention to the NHL playoffs. The NHL and NBA playoffs are underway right now. Ian says he does not plan to watch the Pukes and Spurs tonight, but he will confess if he ends up doing so. Although Ian hates the Pukes with a passion, he very much respects what Sam Presti has done. Ian relates it back to Seattle. Does OKC still live in your head? We check in on the MANY talkbacks and texts and finally, talk to Softy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Furness Show 5-19: Joe Sheehan and John Lund

Mariners won big yesterday and Colt Emerson's first dinger should be highlighted. Criticism of Dan Wilson's in-game decisions are warranted, but the injuries the stars have been dealing with aren't on him. Do the OKC Thunder still live rent free in your head? Bryan Woo has returned to true form, criticism of JP Crawford is warranted and there are still fair questions about management. There are questions about Dan Wilson's management and we listen back to what Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop had to say about it yesterday. The worst owner in sports is at it again in Portland. Worst owner in sports owns the Trailblazers and it's straight out of the Clay Bennett handbook. Ian would be happy to see Samantha Holloway and the Kraken ownership group as the next member of the club. Joe Sheehan, The Joe Sheehan Newsletter joins us to give a 30,000-foot view of the Mariners and where they are right now. How critical is the manager situation with Dan Wilson right now? Joe touches in on JP Crawford, Cal Raleigh and what we're seeing with their lack of production. Cal deserves a reset and should not have to deal with the expectations from last year. What separates Mason Miller from the rest of the pack? We invite you into the Daily Power Play! John Lund, Unleashed! And Westwood One joins Ian in his usual cantankerous manner to discuss the horrific ownership we're seeing with the Trailblazers and the international NFL games we're seeing this year - specifically with the 49ers. The NFL is clearly doing this for the money and it has nothing to do with what's good for the players. Is there any way we can see a Super Bowl overseas? They can pretty much do whatever they want. We check the talkbacks and texts and finally, talk to Softy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Furness Show 5-18: Ian is back! Mollywhop Monday with Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop, plus Seahawks schedule

Ian tells us about his weekend and he had a great time at Cheney Stadium watching the Rainiers. He pays tribute to what Tacoma does to create an awesome environment for the fans. The Mariners are inconsistent, which might be their best attribute right now. There is a net positive from getting guys healthy, but the lack of offensive production throughout the Padres sweep in Seattle is troubling. The AL West allows the Mariners to sleepwalk through this division, so that's good news - but they need to get it going. The NFL schedule is out, and Ian is wondering why the league even doesn't know why they bother doing a huge show on the NFL Network when the leaks let us know what games will happen. Ian tells you what he thinks about the matchups and dates we see on the Seahawks' schedule. The NFL made some good decisions when it comes to primetime.12:45 - Ian likes the changeup with NBC/Peacock doing Sunday Night Baseball. However, he takes issues with some points made.  Mollywhop Monday! Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop join to breakdown the Mariners getting swept by the Padres this weekend. How fair is the criticism toward Dan Wilson right now? Chris has plenty to say about it right now but also doesn't think the team will make a change right now. Chris says he would consider it because Wilson isn't making them better right now. Nathan brings up all the positive things we're seeing at the plate and in the field, and despite the losses we're seeing, there's plenty to be happy about. Nathan also weighs in on Dan Wilson. There are plenty of stats that back up the poor performance of Wilson as a manager. Chris and Nathan discuss the handling of Cal Raleigh's injury and what that looks like moving forward. Mollywhop finishes off to discuss Colt Emmerson and what the realistic expectations for him as he just recently got called up. They preview the series with the White Sox. Ian wraps up our Mollywhop conversation and doesn't like to call for people's jobs, but this is going to be a serious series for Dan Wilson with the White Sox. The team can't scuffle right now, but it's not necessarily all on Dan Wilson. Aaron Rai wins the PGA Championship, and Ian pays tribute to what he did this weekend, as well as what his family did for him growing up. Ian finally gets to break down the Seahawks schedule as it was released last week. He takes issue with the fact they're ending their season for the third straight year on back-to-back road games. We check in on the talkbacks and texts and finally, talk to Softy! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
