A friend recommended me this podcast, and I set out to listen to it… 2 years later. Whoops. Still, I’m very glad I eventually rediscovered this podcast languishing in the depths of my Apple Podcasts library, as I have had a blast listening to these two dissect some of my favorite guilty pleasures movies (and a few I wish I could have loved too- the Percy Jackson episode basically took all of my own opinions and voiced them much more competently than I could have, and gave me a good laugh in the process). Heck, the Spiderman: Homecoming episode more or less singlehandedly convinced me to give the movie a shot, as like Ellie, I am firmly an Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman kind of person and I hadn’t been impressed by the newest iteration. So you can imagine how much of a feat it was to even get me to admit the Tom Holland Spiderman movies exist, much less consider watching it.
The concept of taking beloved movies and dissecting what does and does not work despite our love for them is a great one, and our hosts’ banter is top notch as well. Listening to this podcast feels a lot like sitting down to watch a movie with a group of friends, with all the poking fun that entails and genuine enjoyment that entails. I frequently chill with my current crochet project and this podcast, it’s a great way to relax at the end of a long day.
