    Joe Escalante's weekly poking of the business end of the showbiz bear... This week: The Grammy's are happening as we do the show live, and Joe is confused... How is it that the Sublime (the band Joe manages) had the biggest song of the year, yet not get any Grammy love? Joe explains the impact of being an independent band on getting Grammy consideration. Joe also explains why he is puzzled by the fact that a punk rock band won the award for best Metal act. Punk is not metal, but it's not like the Grammy's actually care about accurate musical categories... just ask Jethro Tull!  Also, Joe complains about AI getting everything wrong (again), and then he goes into the laws surrounding the use of the term Super Bowl, discussing when you can and when you can't use the term... Hey, the NFL sued a church over the use of the term, I'm guessing we're gonna need to change the name of this podcast at some point... Consider this a legal experiment.     Taxi Dancing with the Stars!

    Joe Escalante's weekly sojourn into the business end of showbiz. This week... Timothy Busfield is in some MAJOR legal trouble, but, as always, Joe is cautious in reserving any judgment before any evidence is made clear. After a recap of the latest Box Office numbers and Joe's night managing Sublime at Alter-Ego (Thank you iHeart!!!), Joe discusses the latest Beach Boy's documentary on Disney+ and confesses his darkest secret... He's always liked the Beach Boys better than The Beatles . Who know, a SoCal kid would identify better with a band with a tan over a band that hadn't seen sunlight until they left Liverpool??? And, in Celebs Behaving Badly... Chris Brown's case against the documentary reminding him of his violent history against women was dropped. Laker Legend Lamar Odom got a DUI in Vegas. Kiefer Sutherland got busted for being a drunken dick to a Uber/Lyft driver... Which reminded Joe of LA's history of underground dance clubs, where "Taxi Dancers" would dance in clubs with people for money per song, and the factors that led to its ultimate demise.     Joe Escalante's weekly adventure into the business end of showbiz. This week: Joe saw movies! He saw Zootopia 2 (aka the highest grossing film of 2025)! After a brief review of the top 10 at the Box Office, Joe flexes his legal muscle, going in with both feet on the licensing of music on X/Twitter, as well as other forms of social media. If you're a musician looking to make money in this ever-changing world, this is a must listen. Also, Joe gives an update on the Netflix/Warner Bros/Paramount saga, before discussing the latest news from Celebs Behaving Badly... In this week's edition, Chris Brown doesn't want to be reminded of his history of violence against women, so he's suing to make you forget.     Happy Public Domain Day!

This year, among the IP's that are now free use, is Bettie Boop! Just make sure you're using the right version... Also, despite declining numbers for the year, the box office finished strong with the best Holiday movie season to date, thanks to the new Avatar movie, and the surprise champion of the 2025 box office... Zootopia 2!!! No seriously, it beat the Minecraft movie, and everything else thrown on the big screen last year... After a brief Oscar preview, Joe talks Celebs behaving badly...     Ping Pong, Rally's On!

    Joe Escalante's weekly plunge into the business end of showbiz. This week: Joe bids adieu to Brigette Bardot, who passed away at 91 today.  Joe saw three movies over the holidays... and none of them were the SpongeBob Movie... He saw Anaconda and was thrilled by the performances from Jack Black and Paul Rudd. Also, Marty Supreme was a great film... even if you don't like movies about ping-pong hustlers in New York!!! Jow was blown away by the performance of Kevin O'Leary... That's right, Shark Tank Kevin O'Leary.  Joe saw the Brazilian political thriller The Secret Agent. He saw it so that we don't have to...
