    Your Philanthropist Identity

What would change for you if you stopped seeing yourself as someone who doesn't have enough to give and started seeing yourself as someone who is defined by the love they carry? In this final episode of her three-part series on impulsivity and philanthropy, Dianne A. Allen invites us to do something quietly radical: add philanthropist to our identity. She walks through the patterns of not-enoughness that keep gifted and neurodivergent people from owning their natural capacity for love and generosity, and shares the moment someone called her a philanthropist for the first time and how that single word changed everything about how she showed up in the world. If you have ever felt too broken, too small, or too unfinished to be a philanthropist, this episode will dissolve that lie at the root. Philanthropy Doesn't Take Millions

What if you have been a philanthropist your whole life and just didn't know it? In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen redefines what philanthropy actually means, tracing it back to its Greek root as the love of humanity. She makes the case that gifted and neurodivergent people, with their natural impulsivity, deep empathy, and drive to connect and contribute, are philanthropists by nature, not by net worth. She invites us to look honestly at how we steward our time, our talent, and our treasure in service of the people and the world around us. Because your smile, your insight, your presence, and your willingness to sit with someone in their pain are creating a ripple effect far greater than you will ever fully know. If you have ever ruled yourself out of the philanthropist category because you don't have millions to give, this episode is here to change that.   Watch the Someone Gets Me Podcast – Philanthropy Doesn't Take Millions   Did you enjoy this episode? Impulse Spending Is Actually Misdirected Generosity

What if your impulse spending is really misdirected generosity? In this first episode of a 3-part series on impulse spending, Dianne A. Allen sheds light on how impulse spending can show up for neurodivergent people as a form of philanthropic mindset. She explores how that impulse can come from seeking possibilities, excitement, and transformation, and how we can begin to discern between genuine generosity and simply chasing a dopamine hit. She also shares personal techniques she uses to manage impulse spending, how we can find the good in the ways we are wired, and how giving ourselves choice points can help us respond more intentionally. Catch this episode of Someone Gets Me and explore why your impulse spending might be more than just spending. It may be misdirected generosity asking to be understood.   Did you enjoy this episode? Trusting Yourself In A World Full of Noise with Shannon Allman

What does it take to trust yourself again when the world has been loud, the grief has been real, and you spent years pouring everything into someone else's survival? In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen sits down with Shannon Allman, journalist, late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD adult, and widow of the legendary Gregg Allman, for one of the most tender and honest conversations this show has ever had.  Shannon opens up about her decade of quiet healing, the routines that keep her nervous system anchored, and what it cost her to pour herself entirely into caregiving while she quietly disappeared. She also shares what it was like to watch Gregg Allman the persona step forward and Gregory the man step back.   If you have ever felt too sensitive for this world or too lost in someone else's story to find your own, watch the Someone Gets Me Podcast – Trusting Yourself In A World Full of Noise with Shannon Allman   Did you enjoy this episode? She’s spent the last 9 years devoting her life to researching the connections between grief, trauma, abuse, illness, neurodivergencies, giftedness, and high sensitivity and to learning the skills and practices needed for healing and thriving.  She finds purpose in helping others navigate grief, illness, trauma, and late diagnoses via her social media which sees up to 4 million monthly viewers.  She’s a lover of God, deep conversations, meditation, her cat Tupelo, and underdogs. Beyond the Hit Song: An Honest Conversation with Adam Reifsnyder

What does it cost to stay true to your music?   In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen sits down with singer-songwriter and guitarist Adam Reifsnyder as he shares what it felt like to watch that happen from the outside, how he wrote through divorce, pregnancy loss, and a cancer diagnosis in the same year, and why he still gets up at 5:30 in the morning to make music because he simply cannot stop.   Adam's story is not about fame. It is about the kind of soul-level commitment to a creative life that does not bend to timelines, industry rules, or anyone else's definition of success.   Watch the Someone Gets Me Podcast – Beyond the Hit Song: An Honest Conversation with Adam Reifsnyder   Did you enjoy this episode? A longtime fixture in the Cleveland indie music scene, Adam is a co-founder of Honeybucket, a Newgrass trio that became a staple of the local circuit. He was also a founding member of WALK THE MOON and co-writer of their breakout hit “Anna Sun.” Beyond that, Adam has recorded and performed under the synth-pop/rock moniker Astronymer, whose song “Miles to Go” (with Jul Big Green) was featured as the opening theme for the 44th Cleveland International Film Festival. Adam is also one-half of the indie folk duo The Fairdowells, alongside his musical and life partner Lauren Morgan. Their debut EP, Origins, was released in 2020 shortly after the birth of their twins, and explores some of the ups and downs of an incredibly challenging year in their lives.  As a solo artist, Adam leans into indie folk-pop songwriting with a cinematic edge, blending acoustic textures, folk and pop production, and emotionally direct lyrics. His 2025 release Better Late Than Never (Deluxe) spans everything from acoustic folk-pop anthems like “Heading Back” to haunting indie rock and the John Mayer–influenced “Sunday Morning.” Most recently, Adam collaborated with folk songwriter Gretchen Pleuss on a series of intimate indie folk duets, including "Carry Me," their folk reimagining of Prince's "When Doves Cry," and the haunting anthem "Here In My Room."
