Labor Day Inspiration - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 9-7-26 - #1976

“Send Coach John a message” Clint Hurdle (@ClintHurdle13) Awesome post from Coach Clint:  “Thoughts on a Labor Day weekend -  Thank you to my friend Charley Kennedy for the inspiration. Labor Day.  I hope everyone is getting ready for an awesome Labor Day weekend and catching the last blast of summer!”  I love this part of his post:  “Thank you to those who “labor” for all of us and take great pride in what they do. Organized labor is the backbone of America and keeps us humming today and every day. Cheers to steady work and the joy of being part of a group that shows up for one another!”  The post continues:  Labor Day weekend always feels like the year taking a deep, contented breath before the seasons turn. It’s a good time to slow down, savor the sunshine, and enjoy the simple gifts right in front of us.  This weekend, know that the best moments are often the simplest ones....a quiet morning on the porch, a friendly wave from a neighbor, or the smell of something good on the grill.  Make a difference today!  Love Clint”   I am fired up about this reminder for me and anyone else who wants to keep getting better.  We need to keep improving the way we work, hopefully in an area of joy with our calling (our burn), but also where we look to make a difference with others.  The world needs it now more than ever before.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.  ** I would appreciate anyone to try clicking on the top of the show notes where it says "Send us a text" to leave a few thoughts / comments / questions.  It's a new feature that I'd like to see how it works. **

Motivation Is Wonderful and Unreliable - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1975

“Send Coach John a message” I found a wonderful post from Alan Stein, Jr. (@AlanSteinJr) who wrote two incredible books.  “Raise Your Game” and “Sustain Your Game” were both powerful reads for me, not only as a basketball coach & teacher, but as a human being looking to keep getting better.  Now I see he’s got another book out - guess I need to grab that one up too.  Here is what he shared about Motivation.  He says this:  “Motivation is wonderful. It's also unreliable. If your standard depends on feeling motivated, your performance will fluctuate with your mood. Discipline closes that gap. Discipline is not punishment. It's not grinding yourself into exhaustion. It's keeping the commitments you've made to yourself - especially when doing so is inconvenient. The goal isn't to feel inspired every morning. The goal is to create routines that make the right behavior easier to repeat. Decide what matters. Put it on the calendar. Remove unnecessary friction. Start before you feel ready. Then repeat. Professionals don't eliminate emotion. They simply don't allow every emotion to renegotiate their standards. Motivation can help you begin. Discipline helps you continue.”  Incredible insight here for each of us to unpack and connect with in our own way, each and every day we can! It reminds me about “Standards over feelings” by Ben Newman says.  So many great life lessons in this for all of us. **

We All Have To Pay - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 9-4-26 - #1974

“Send Coach John a message” I found a very powerful post from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where this truthful quote was shared:  “Sooner or later we all have to pay for what we do.” ~ Oscar Wilde.  What a true statement for sure.  The bill always comes due for our choices, how we carry ourselves, what we do to (and for) others, every decision, etc.  Some are small of course and nobody else knows about them. Other choices we make - well, they are well known and others do know about them…. Both the good and not so good. This is not meant to weigh us down as to being worried about everything we do.  For me, it’s something I need to keep making good choices, build good habits, keep learning and growing by reading & listening more to things that help me be my best.  We will all be remembered for what we did throughout our lives.  It might as well have been for good instead of bad. Keep growing to be your best self my friends. **

Change Two Words - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thurs. 9-3-26 - #1973

“Send Coach John a message” I found another fabulous lesson that needed to be repeated to me AGAIN, since I still need to be reminded about it.  It came from Damon West (@damonwest7) who is an amazing difference maker, author, speaker, someone for sure you want to get connected to.  He shared this:  “Try changing two words today: “I have to” will now become “I get to.” I get to go to work. I get to move my body. I get to show up for my family. I get to work toward my goals. The things on your plate may not change, but the words you use can change the way you see them. Sometimes a small shift in perspective is all it takes to change the way you show up.” #BeACoffeeBean  Little adjustments in my thinking, can change so much in my life - same for you.  How I approach something with this mindset of “I get to”... can make a HUGE difference in not only how I accomplish things but also how the rest of my day goes.  This helps me show up as a better version of myself, wherever I go, instead of me having these words in my head - “I have to”.  Try connecting to this reflection.  Powerful stuff for sure! **

Inside Game - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 9-2-26 - #1972

“Send Coach John a message” I found a great post from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where this was shared - “If an egg is broken by an outside force, life ends.  If broken by an inside force, life begins.  Great things always begin from the inside.”  Yep.. those things that we can control, come from within.  In life - there are many things that we can’t control, but this quote is one to keep around us every single day!!  Just like the game of basketball - doing things from the inside out is always the way to go. **

Do Not Disturb Yourself - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - 9-1-26

“Send Coach John a message” This is a classic post from Seneca the Younger (@SenecaQuote) where my connecting thought when I reposted it was this:  Coach John Daly (@coachtosuccess) “Again, so much wisdom from so long ago that still helps us today…”  I am amazed that from so long ago there have been clues left that humans still have trouble connecting with. The historic gem is from Marcus Aurelius - “ Do not disturb yourself by imagining your whole life at once.”  Wow.. I know I need to see where I’m at and see what’s next and not try to have my entire future figured out. I think this is something all of us can do, connect with things that people have shared from the past that we can use today to make our lives better. **

    Podcast 1970 - Maturity Is - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 8-31-26 - #1970

“Send Coach John a message” I found this post to be a great truth and reminder.  It comes from Dolphins Enlighten (@embracetruejoy) - Where the intro thoughts were this:  “Letting go of the need to have the last word brings inner peace and stops unnecessary arguments.”  The quote itself comes from Rachel Wolchin who said this:  “Maturing is realizing how many things don’t require your comment.”  I know for one thing, I need to get better at being more mature in this area for sure.  In today’s Internet age, it’s one thing for me to keep getting better at not having to respond to each and every post. Some yes, but most of them know.  And - I can’t give up my peace for those things that others say, write, post, etc., and keep dwelling on it and let them change my mood for sure. Always something to work on for us to keep getting better with. **

    3 Part Reflection - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1969 (Mon. 8-31-26)

“Send Coach John a message” Found a great reflection post for today from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) where this thought was shared:  “Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines  what you do.  Attitude determines  how well you do it.” - Raymond Chandler.  These 3 things we all can look at a bit better and look at improving them. Our abilities, yes.. We are born with them, but we can improve upon those and others with focused intent.  I for sure need to remember that Motivation is an inside job and of course that goes along with my Attitude too.  I control those and I can and I must, bet better at them. **
