THE HISTORY OF GHANA By Muud Swingz

HISTORY OF GHANA A Sound score for Nana Danso Awuah-Asante’s exhibition An abstract art of sounds sourced with the intent of capturing our story as Ghanaians. A story about the history of our people and highlighting the soundscape of our ethos. From the sound of sweeping brooms to ambience of heated market centers, conversations and dialogues which carry information about the way of life of the people, the birds singing in tree tops, the kids playing across the street, the songs that play on radio which served as time capsules of the period & many other sounds that constantly fill the environment. The evolution in our music is a product of the diversity of our culture. Sound will always be a vehicle of culture, moving along time and carrying stories through frequencies from time to time. Constantly reminding us of our rich oral traditions and history. The stories of african descent have constantly morphed in forms of sound and rhythm which serves as a medium for the people to gain and learn information about themselves, stories about their past and answers for the future. The songs and sounds selection for this score compliments the paintings, in a sense that it lays a background for the audience to fully grasp and assimilate the information being portrayed. History is an ongoing conversation, it's our goal to embody the spirit and wisdom of our ancestral background through the soundscape being presented in order to contribute to the discourse of our history at large .
