Beyond the Lens: Resilience, Mentorship, and the Creative Journey

In this episode of the Ana Brandt Podcast, Ana sits down with Kasper, a photographer from Denmark with over 30 years of experience, for an honest conversation about what it really takes to sustain a long-term creative career. They dive into the realities of resilience — especially during economic slowdowns or personal seasons of doubt when photographers feel like giving up. Ana shares her belief that these slower, quieter seasons are often where the best ideas are born, and that challenges are temporary if you’re willing to stay the course. A powerful part of the episode highlights mentorship and personal growth. Kasper reflects on traveling from Denmark to California to mentor with Ana — the first time in three decades that he chose to invest in education rather than equipment. Together, they discuss the evolution of photography from film to digital to mirrorless systems, and the role of AI as a supportive workflow tool — not a replacement for true professional artistry. They also explore the business side of photography: developing a signature look in a saturated market, using competitions and creative challenges to reignite motivation during slower months, and continually refining your craft to stay relevant. The episode touches on work-life balance as self-employed creatives, reframing “workaholic” as deep passion for the craft while also emphasizing the importance of rest, quiet time, and sustainability. It closes with a powerful reminder: never make a permanent decision based on a temporary situation. https://www.findanabrandt.com/

AI Love it or Hate it: It's Here to Stay

In this podcast, I talk honestly about what AI is doing to our creative industry — and how I truly feel about it. I know there’s fear. I’ve felt it too. There’s this belief that artificial intelligence is going to replace us or somehow make our skills less valuable. But I don’t see it that way at all. I see it as an evolution. And if I’m being completely honest, I believe it’s one we can’t ignore. AI isn’t here to take away our creativity. It’s here to handle the repetitive, time-consuming tasks that drain us — the editing, the organizing, the backend work — so we can focus on what actually makes our work powerful: emotion, storytelling, human connection. Those are things machines simply cannot replicate. I share my own journey in this episode — how I once resisted digital photography because I was so attached to film, and how that shift felt uncomfortable and even scary at first. But leaning into it changed everything for me. The same thing is happening now with AI. The moment I stopped fighting it and started learning it, new creative doors opened. New revenue streams appeared. My imagination expanded instead of shrinking. This isn’t about replacing artistry. It’s about expanding it. At the end of the day, this episode is really a call to creators: don’t let fear freeze you. The industry is shifting whether we like it or not. You can either stand still and hope it slows down… or you can adapt, learn, and position yourself for long-term success. I know which one I’m choosing. learn more about Ana https://www.theaicreativecollective.com/ https://anabrandt.com/ https://stan.store/anabrandt https://www.anabrandteducation.com/
