Fascinating behind-the-scenes of great careers in filmmaking

Opponents of literary criticism sometimes rely on a biology analogy: dissect the frog to see how it works and you invariably kill the frog. That analogy doesn't work for literature (although one CAN overdo anything), and it works less for film. I suspect that most true fans of film appreciate these works of art even more when they get the privileged look behind the curtain into John Roesch's world of post-production. Yes, cinema is magical, but hearing about the hard work that makes the magic -- and the careers of the magicians -- makes it more vibrant, not less.

Favorite episode so far: Randy Thom.

THIS is Movie Magic

I wish I could have listened to this when I was a kid, first beginning to dream about making movies... Or when I was a teenager, making 8mm videos re-edited on a VCR... Or when I went to film school and painstakingly edited a bunch of crunchy snow footsteps that I traveled up into the mountains for...
But that would require a time machine and anyway I still ended up a foley artist and now I am so glad I found this podcast. There is REAL INSIGHT here into the creative and highly collaborative worlds behind the scenes of our favorite movies and shows. Anybody with any interest in this deep, multifaceted art would be wise to subscribe!
