    Finishing Well

This sermon concludes a series on Nehemiah by examining the final chapter, where God's people repeatedly drift from their vows despite initial restoration. The central message emphasizes that human strength is insufficient for maintaining faithfulness, highlighting the need for divine grace and the ultimate hope found in Christ, the faithful covenant keeper. The text explores three areas of reformation: the sanctification of worship, specifically the Sabbath; the integrity of families through marriage within the faith; and the holiness of church leadership and service. The preacher urges believers to view their lives through a multi-generational lens, stewarding their time to prepare the next generation rather than seeking immediate results. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a reliance on God's power to sustain the church, reminding listeners that true faithfulness is a gift of grace rather than a product of human effort.

The Chief End of Man | Catechesis Ep. 003

This episode explores the central theological claim that humanity's ultimate purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, as summarized in the Westminster Shorter Catechism. It argues that human beings do not create their own meaning but receive it from the Creator, establishing that all aspects of life, from ordinary activities to profound suffering, are ordered toward God's glory. The teaching distinguishes between intrinsic glory, which God possesses in Himself, and ascribed glory, which creatures acknowledge, while correcting common errors such as the belief that God needs human affirmation or that Christian joy is merely emotional happiness. By examining Psalm 73 and the life of Christ as the faithful Second Adam, the episode demonstrates that true enjoyment of God remains constant even when earthly blessings are withdrawn. Ultimately, the episode calls believers to redirect their worship, vocation, and desires away from rival idols and toward the supreme good of God Himself.

    Reforming the House of God

This sermon explores the necessity of divine grace in sustaining true reformation, using Nehemiah 13 to illustrate how human efforts alone are insufficient for lasting spiritual change. It highlights that reformation begins with the exposure of sin through God's Word, which calls the covenant community to holy separation from compromise. The text addresses the corruption of God's house, symbolized by Eliashib's accommodation of Tobiah, and emphasizes the need to remove defilement to restore proper worship. Furthermore, it underscores the importance of faithful stewardship and support for the ministry, noting that neglect of these duties leads to the forsaking of God's house. Ultimately, the message points to the need for Christ, who alone can cleanse the sinner and keep the covenant, enabling believers to stand in His strength for faithful worship.

Why Learn Christian Doctrine? | Catechesis Ep. 002

This episode of Catechesis addresses the common objection that theology is unnecessary for a relationship with Jesus, arguing instead that Christian doctrine is essential for knowing the true Christ and living faithfully. By examining passages in 2 Timothy, Ephesians, and Titus, the message explains that God intends His people to learn His truth to gain wisdom, stability, and maturity, so they are not tossed about by every wind of doctrine. The episode emphasizes that sound doctrine is not an end in itself but a means to know God, strengthen faith, shape worship, and protect believers from error. It further asserts that what Christians believe directly influences how they live, as biblical learning is meant to produce biblical living. Finally, the episode encourages believers to actively engage with Scripture and catechisms to receive, guard, and transmit the faith to the next generation.

What Is Catechesis? | Catechesis Ep. 001

This episode defines catechesis as the deliberate and systematic instruction of the Christian faith, arguing that it is essential for spiritual maturity and the continuity of the covenant community. It grounds this practice in the Great Commission, emphasizing that Jesus commands the church to make disciples through teaching, not merely conversion. The message highlights that without intentional biblical formation, believers are vulnerable to cultural influences and doctrinal instability, as illustrated by the contrast between children tossed by winds of doctrine and mature Christians grounded in truth. The episode outlines a generational purpose for faith, where believers receive, guard, and hand on the deposit of truth to the next generation. Ultimately, it calls for a shift from accidental theological assembly to a structured pursuit of knowing, living, and passing on the faith.

    Your Children Are Holy

The sermon explores the theological significance of 1 Corinthians 7:14, asserting that the children of believers possess a distinct status of holiness as members of God's covenant community. It clarifies that this covenantal holiness denotes being set apart to God rather than implying automatic regeneration or saving faith. The preacher emphasizes that these children hold a privileged place within the visible church, sharing in the promises and signs of the covenant established with Abraham and renewed in Christ. Consequently, parents are called to raise their children intentionally in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, avoiding both presumption regarding salvation and neglect of their spiritual identity. The message concludes by urging the congregation to support these families and direct covenant children continually toward personal faith in Jesus Christ.

The Joy of the Holy City

The sermon explores the nature of true, unshakable joy found in God's covenant faithfulness rather than transient worldly circumstances. Drawing from Nehemiah chapters 11 and 12, it highlights how God establishes His people in community, orders them for holy worship across generations, and fills them with lasting joy rooted in Christ. The preacher contrasts fleeting human promises of happiness with the enduring spiritual reality of rejoicing in God's presence and provision. This divine joy is demonstrated to produce ordinary faithfulness and generous stewardship within the church body. Ultimately, the message encourages believers to look past immediate difficulties and trust in God's sovereign work for the future of His people.

    Covenant Renewal

The sermon explores Nehemiah chapter 10, illustrating how God's covenant mercy moves repentant believers from confession to grace-enabled faithfulness. It highlights three key aspects of this renewal: public commitment by leaders, distinct ordering of daily life according to Scripture, and devoted support for temple worship. The preacher emphasizes that genuine repentance produces concrete obedience in practical areas like family, finance, and Sabbath observance, rather than remaining abstract. While acknowledging human inability to keep such vows independently, the message points to Jesus Christ as the ultimate Covenant Keeper who fulfills these requirements. Ultimately, believers are called to rest their hope in Christ alone while actively participating in the responsibilities of the church through worship and stewardship.
