    Seahawks Training Camp Update Vol. II

    Recording: Tuesday, July 28, 2026 Hosts: Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers SHOW THESIS Seattle’s defense looks deep, fast and disruptive, while the offense is still defining its identity under Brian Fleury. Shaheed and Price are the most encouraging early developments, but right guard, running back, red-zone execution and Emmanwori’s recovery remain the biggest unresolved storylines.   FIVE BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS The defensive front looks dominant. Byron Murphy II, Leonard Williams, Rylie Mills, Dante Fowler Jr., Derick Hall and the rest of the pass-rush rotation have consistently disrupted the offense. Murphy and Mills have been especially impressive. This may be Seattle’s deepest defensive front in years. Rashid Shaheed’s offensive role is expanding. Shaheed is showing improved chemistry with Sam Darnold and is being used as more than a deep threat. Seattle appears interested in making him a multi-level receiving weapon through motion, screens, crossing routes and vertical concepts. Jadarian Price has flashed immediate explosiveness. The rookie running back has displayed burst, lateral agility and receiving ability. George Holani remains the dependable all-around option, while Emanuel Wilson brings power. Zach Charbonnet’s injury timeline remains the major variable. Nick Emmanwori’s injury creates major secondary opportunities. Emmanwori remains on PUP following ankle surgery, with no firm return date. Rookie Bud Clark, Ty Okada and Rodney Thomas II are receiving increased opportunities. Seattle may replace Emmanwori’s versatile role by committee. The real evaluations begin in pads. The first three practices have revealed speed, communication, route development and ball skills. The next phase should clarify the right-guard competition, running-back hierarchy, offensive-line performance and defensive-front rotation. OFFENSE Quarterback: Sam Darnold has shown encouraging chemistry with JSN, Cooper Kupp and Shaheed, though the offense struggled during Monday’s red-zone work. Jalen Milroe’s development remains difficult to evaluate until live-pressure and preseason situations. Running Back: Price has produced the most explosive moments. Holani offers reliability, pass protection and special-teams value. Wilson provides a physical change of pace. Charbonnet remains on PUP. Wide Receiver: JSN remains the offensive centerpiece. Shaheed’s role is growing. Kupp looks healthy and produced a highlight one-handed catch. Tory Horton is fully participating after last season’s injury. The final receiver spots will likely be determined by special teams. Tight End/Fullback: AJ Barner is healthy and positioned for a larger role. Elijah Arroyo offers matchup potential. Brian Fleury is expected to use multiple-tight-end and fullback packages extensively. Offensive Line: Four positions appear settled: Charles Cross, Grey Zabel, Jalen Sundell and Abraham Lucas. Right guard remains the primary competition between Anthony Bradford, Christian Haynes and rookie Beau Stephens. DEFENSE Defensive Front: Murphy appears ready for a breakout season. Mills is forcing his way into the rotation. Fowler is showing early explosiveness. Seattle’s depth could allow Macdonald to rotate aggressively without sacrificing pressure. Linebacker: Ernest Jones IV remains the defensive leader. Drake Thomas and Tyrice Knight are competing for the role next to him. Patrick O’Connell helped himself with an athletic interception. Secondary: Devon Witherspoon continues practicing at a high level despite contract discussions. Julian Love remains the organizer. Clark and Okada are the primary players to watch while Emmanwori is unavailable. Rookie Michael Dansby produced an end-zone interception Monday. SPECIAL TEAMS The biggest question is how much return work Shaheed should handle if his offensive role expands. Tory Horton, Rashad Rochelle, George Holani and other roster-bubble players could earn jobs through return and coverage value. Jason Myers and Michael Dickson remain established specialists. TOP POSITION BATTLES Right guard Running-back workload Safety roles during Emmanwori’s absence Final two receiver spots Drake Thomas versus Tyrice Knight at linebacker EARLY STOCK UP Rashid Shaheed, Jadarian Price, Byron Murphy II, Rylie Mills, Cooper Kupp, Tory Horton, Dante Fowler Jr., Michael Dansby and Patrick O’Connell. BIGGEST QUESTIONS AHEAD When will Emmanwori return? Who wins right guard? Is Price ready to become the lead back? How different will Fleury’s offense look? Can Seattle improve its red-zone execution?
