Roger & Rolling

Roger & Rolling are digital partisans of the global electronic music scene. Their sound is a fusion of deep analog techno, dense house, and conceptual electronica driven by a distinct cyberpunk aesthetic. Despite the project completely ignoring the laws of the modern music media industry from the very beginning, it could not go unnoticed. In 2015, the broken groove of "Tale" and the raw sound of "25" got on the radar of American producer Matthew Anthony, the boss of the Los Angeles-based label Perfect Driver Music. These works possessed a completely different sound, unusual for the label, but despite the obvious stylistic contrast, he signed them immediately and included them in his flagship compilations. The Californian releases triggered a chain reaction across the USA. The West Coast heavy hitter, the legendary Claude VonStroke, founder of San Francisco's cult label Dirtybird, personally picked the track "25" for his signature podcast, The Birdhouse (Episode 006). This instantly drew the attention of the electronic music elite to the anonymous underground project. Following this, 2016 saw the release of the "Low Sound EP," and later its deluxe remix edition on the IMUNE Records label. Label founder Bobby Lava, in his reviews, definitively sealed Roger & Rolling's status as masters of "machine cyberpunk sound" in the world of house and techno. Following their American success, the project shifted its focus to the Eastern European scene and dark techno culture. In 2017, after the release of the experimental "R.F.O EP," the duo established strong ties with the Hungarian techno community. In 2019, on the Budapest-based label Right Music Records, they released an austere piece titled "Barracuda," which became a club weapon for midnight selectors. Around the same time, the track "Sapper" was issued, later making its way into the label's definitive best-of compilation. In parallel with single releases, Roger & Rolling cultivate the culture of extended sessions, publishing massive artist sets under "The Lanes Mix" series, composed entirely of their own works, as well as b2b mixes with an emphasis on acid, techno, and breakbeat. The project's tracks are regularly featured in radio shows and broadcasts on stations such as Proton Radio, Rinse FM, DT Radio, Global FM Gran Canaria, Noods Radio, KUFM, CULT FM Radio, and others. Over 12 years of collaboration, Roger & Rolling have constructed their own recognizable, monumental sonic architecture. Through encrypted releases, the project transmits the code of the idea of analog sincerity over glossy fast food—a reminder to the listener that true sound is born where technology is subordinated to human creative will, rather than soulless artificial intelligence and the marketing strategies of a refined, pseudo-electronic scene.
