As an enlisted military veteran with a BS in Labor Studies and Employment Relations (HR) from Penn State returning to a state job, this podcast encapsulates everything I've found to be true on my return to the workforce. All the benefits of a shared culture and the idiosyncracies of the military (such as having 12 months of training, but being trusted with a $90M aircraft) I liked in the military seem to be glaringly absent in the state sector. I found myself nodding along to the points made in the first three episodes with an occasional inspiration as to what I find a struggle in my current employment. This podcast illustrates why and details clearly for a civilian HR VP or Hiring Manager what some of the big differences may be when looking at a veteran's resume and how to see beyond what may appear to be a lack of experience or depth. A must listen for anyone trying to gain a solid perspective on military hiring to find the right person for the job, ensuring there is a cultural fit, and aligning expectations on boths sides - so a hired vet stays hired. Five stars, minus one for audio difficulties the producer is currrently working through that can make it hard listen at points.
