One year ago, El Salvador made Bitcoin legal tender — the first nation in the world to do so. But how did Bitcoin make its way into this Latin American country? It all started in the coastal town of El Zonte, which earned the nickname 'Bitcoin Beach' after being flushed with the cryptocurrency thanks to a mysterious donor. In the second part of our mini-series, Tales from the Crypto, we take a dive into the key players (and controversies) of El Salvador's Bitcoin journey.

Within a month, Brent had purchased Cerro Gordo, California, an abandoned silver mining town, with the help of friends and investors. He wants to revive the town for visitors while preserving its history. He's already faced some major setbacks -- from the lack of running water, to getting snowed in there during a global pandemic. But he calls Cerro Gordo his "life's work."

Great concept

Wish the dialogue wasn’t so scripted

Each show is a fantastic journey

These peeps make a beautiful show- well balanced, respectful, fascinating- keeping to the creative and clear tradition of quality public radio. I’ll try other podcasts but so far I have not found many that hit all the sweet spots like this one days. Contemporary, well researched, fieldwork, unique and unusual, so surprising. I live on an island in Spain but thanks to these yankees, I feel like I can keep my finger on the pulse and journey safely back to my homeland. Please do an episode on the science of white holes and New Mexico.

Good content, hard to listen

The dialogue is extremely cringy -- sounds like they're reading scripts and adding in fake laughs ☠️☠️☠️
