Takeaways – A podcast about learning from the wisdom of others

Hayim Mizrachi

Hello Everyone! Welcome to the introduction episode of Takeaways – the podcast. Why am I doing this? Early 2017, I started sharing my Takeaways from the various (business and real estate) events that I attend throughout the year. It has been incredibly fulfilling. I started listening to podcasts in 2016 when Malcom Gladwell released Revisionist History. Then I found Seth Godin’s Start Up School. Now I’m a regular – James Altucher is my current favorite. The other catalyst for me leaping in the podcasting world was enrolling in Seth Godin’s altMBA. It’s a 30 day online workshop all about leveling up. Doing. And demonstrating how capable we are in creating. So here goes… I get to attend incredible events all year long as part of my work. There are always Takeaways. I share those on my blog. I am also blessed to be around remarkable people. There too are always Takeaways to learn. That is what I am sharing on this podcast. Takeaways – Life. Lessons. Learned. explores learning from the wisdom of others. The show format will be me and a guest. Varied guests. Like a commercial real estate developer, Senior Pastor of a mega church here in Las Vegas, business coach, fraternity executive, police captain, physician and oh-so-many more! My guests and I will talk, tell stories, and even perform spoken word poetry. The topics covered will include, stature, grief, having valuable conversations, drive vs. ambition, moments of influence. Who knows what else we will learn? Who knows what might be shared that will inspire your next great creation or achievement? I will share and explore Takeaways that I have learned from the people who have influenced me. At the very least I hope you will be entertained. At the very best you will find value in these Takeaways and will use them to do something meaningfully awesome! Takeaways Rewind — Episode 39: Heavyweight of the CRE Brokerage World

Takeaways – Life. Lessons. Learned. Kevin Higgins, All Things Brokerage Kevin Higgins, SIOR is a top producer’s top producer! Weeks before we recorded this episode he and his business partner became the first Vice Chairmans with CBRE Las Vegas. That is the highest title a broker can receive at CBRE worldwide based on production and experience. Kevin began his career in 1985 with Coldwell Banker before opening the first Voit Real Estate office in 2002. Kevin was at Voit for 12 years, became the Executive Vice President, and was the number one producer for 11 out of those 12 years. Kevin moved to CBRE and became the number one producer in all of CBRE Las Vegas and a top 10 producer in all of CBRE nationwide. Kevin has won numerous awards, and his credentials are stacked, but his credentials only tell us part of the story of who Kevin is. You Get Out What You Put In Originally from Chicago, Kevin is the 5th of 10 children. His parents moved out west to chase the warm weather. Kevin credits his parents as the most influential factor in his success. “My parents raised 10 kids, and everyone had to do their part. Everyone had a job at home, and everyone had a responsibility.” Since he was eleven, Kevin had a job. He learned that it’s up to you to make your world. Don’t wait for someone else to make it for you. Despite his parents’ plans, Kevin didn’t become a doctor or FBI agent. However, becoming a high achiever was always a part of his foundation. SIOR & NAIOP SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) is a place where brokers come together to have an audience with the developers, contractors, lenders, etc., in commercial real estate. Kevin served as the chapter president in 2004 and 2009, and his team has won the coveted Southern Nevada Industrial Broker or Brokerage Team of the Year 13 times and was the Southern Nevada Top Producer Industrial Specialist from 2017 through 2022. In fact, my first time meeting Kevin was at an SIOR lunch. But that isn’t the only connection we have. Kevin served as the NAIOP Southern Nevada President in 2003. I served as Chapter President in 2022. Getting to know the larger developers, architects, and engineers is important in Kevin’s opinion. NAIOP Southern Nevada helped facilitate those connections. As Kevin would put it, “the relationship… the more connectivity we have within our industry, the better we are as brokers.” Takeaways From This Episode Other Key Takeaways in this episode include: Don’t expect success to be given to you just because you showed up – it takes more than that. Be the best you can – no sense in doing something half baked. In the commercial real estate world, lone wolf brokers have become teams and generalists have become specialists.
