Another brilliant British sketch comedy hidden within the enormous amount of podcasts that have continued to overwhelm the Aether - from hundreds of thousands, to millions... thanks to CoVid, people staying at home w lots of time on their hands - but thankfully the large majority of amateur productions I’ve come across have been amiable, likable, entertaining (and sometimes brilliant even...)....
But I digress: what I’ve been trying to get to is the fact that there are too many podcasts, with the constant fetid reek coming from the corporate-produced programs that litter the countryside and get jammed down our throats at every turn...
And what passes for Comedy these days is cause for an overdose - One more trio of guys who jabber on for 105min. forcing jokes at a breakneck speed, laughing like sociopaths at each other as they go from subject to subject and then get 2k subs within a month - I’m getting sick just thinking of them.
But The Geek Sketch Comedy podcast is manna from heaven by comparison... brilliant writing, satire, and delivery by very talented people; the sketch format works brilliantly in audio-only, something I thought I’d never come to believe: and I’ve got the Manbuycow Podcast to thank for that - another British classic.
I’ve written way WAY too much here: I apologize. I’ll end this now with just a plea for all those who’ve read up to this point to please download a couple episodes and try Geek Sketches for yourself - and to plead with the producers for a third series sometime in the future. Sketch comedy is hard to find these days, and I would absolutely shriek with enthusiasm at the announcement that one was coming soon...
But if not, I still owe you a lot of gratitude for a lot of brilliant humor over a lot of brilliant episodes.
You guys were amazing - and have earned a helluva lot of good karma for spreading so much happiness as we closed our eyes and imagined the hilarity you’ve provided us in audio form.
If I were ever to make it over to England, I’d buy each of you a pint ✌️.
