As a casual fan of Chad and the pod, I got my wife and I tickets to his one man show. She was minimally stoked and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I anticipated a typical comedy show, but we left with a new operating system for life.
From the moment Chad stepped on stage, the energy in the room shifted. What began as a room full of strangers quickly transformed into a community of seekers united by one mission: getting absolutely stoked.
The brilliance of Chad’s work lies in his ability to seamlessly blend humor, philosophy, wellness, and elite-level bro science into a single coherent worldview.
The material goes way deeper than expected. Topics ranged from friendship and purpose to self-improvement, personal responsibility, and the healing properties of sunshine. Chad somehow makes concepts that would normally require years of therapy feel immediately accessible.
What impressed me most was his vulnerability. He doesn’t position himself as a guru. Instead, he stands before the audience as a humble messenger, courageously sharing hard-earned truths about friendship, gratitude, personal growth, and the importance of maintaining optimal levels of stoke.
The presentation itself was world-class. The charts were genuinely eye-opening. I had no idea that global comfort levels and global bummer levels had diverged so dramatically over the past several decades. Frankly, the data was unsettling. Some of those graphs should probably be shown in schools.
By the end of the night, I felt different.
I arrived to the show successful on paper but spiritually underdeveloped. I left with a renewed sense of purpose and a surprisingly actionable personal growth plan consisting primarily of squats, sunshine, friendship, lake/ocean exposure, and obtaining a medically responsible tan.
The transformation was immediate. Less than 24 hours later, friends and family commented that I seemed calmer, happier, and approximately 15% more powerful.
I do owe Chad an apology. Unfortunately, my wife and I were celebrating our tenth anniversary, so we had to duck out a little early. I sincerely hope this didn’t negatively affect Chad’s stoke levels or throw off the flow of the presentation. Chad, if you’re reading this: my bad, dude.
If Chad returns to Ann Arbor, I’ll be back for the entire show, and I’ll bring as many friends as possible so they too can begin their own journey toward optimized stokedness.
This wasn’t just a comedy show.
It was a wellness retreat disguised as a comedy show disguised as a wellness retreat.
10/10. No, 15/10.
