This podcast is raw and real in all the best ways! As a person that has experienced loss, I have cried and laughed with Joi (yes Joi with an “i”😃). I was a late comer to this podcast but have been making my way through the episodes (sometimes 3 a day 😂). I’m finishing up with 2021 and am enjoying it all. As a social worker, it feels so good to know that I’m not in this alone. From her stories and experiences from the field to humanizing the work, it’s all a breath of fresh air. Joi is so relatable that by the second or third episode you feel like you’re a part of the conversation. She low key one of my friends… in my head lol. At this point my large 🍟 friends know who they are. Thank youuuu Joi for allowing this space for healing and difficult conversations. I look forward to all that you are doing and will do.

It’s so refreshing to hear that we all go thru similar struggles. It’s so refreshing to hear someone be honest and open! Joi is one of the reasons I sought a therapist! The decision was one of the best things ever for me and my now husband! Keep doing your thing girl! I love to tune in , catch up , laugh , cry, pray and just all round enjoy the vibes!

I am a new listener and went back to your earlier episodes to start getting a pulse on the podcast. I started listening to “So Anxious” and it really meant a lot to me to hear you share about your trauma and processing of losing your loved ones and how you try to work and maintain your life. It feels rare to hear about how professionals struggle with grief and mental health. I am currently a MSW student and also struggle with anxiety. So often society sees professionals, especially those in the helping profession, not affected by struggles of anxiety, depression, stress, etc. I was so worried about becoming a social worker because I thought they didn’t struggle with keeping it together because they are fixers of everything. Your podcast has given me more motivation and hope in pursuing social work. The earlier episode did have some touchy audio issues but overall I appreciate how relatable you are and how candid you are about working as a social worker and balancing your personal mental health. Please continue to share your experiences and highlight other mental health issues. We need more voices of color as this was the first social work podcast I have seen that has someone who looks like me.
