#1526 The Geoff Door - Geoff Jowett

He is predictably unpredictable. Once again I walked through the Geoff door to a wonderland of random thoughts, seemingly unrelated concepts, high-performance coaching, a few new theories, laughter, and in general terms, Geoff-speak. I dunno what else to tell you. Enjoy.

#1525 Does Manifestation Work? - Dr Lucas Dixon

#1525 Does Manifestation Work? - Dr Lucas Dixon

As part of Dr Lucas Dixon's PhD research, he conducted three studies (collective N = 1,023), exploring the psychology of people who believe in manifestation; the ability to cosmically attract success in life through positive self-talk, visualization, and symbolic actions. I recently stumbled across one of his papers about his research exploring 'the psychology of belief in manifestation' and decided to reach out and see if he would chat with me about his work. He said yes! Enjoy.

#1524 Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder - Nikki Morrison

#1524 Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder - Nikki Morrison

According to Nikki Morrison (our resident Nurse, Death Doula and Angel), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a medical condition similar to Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) but it's a kind-of, ‘on steroids’ version. PMDD causes severe (sometimes extreme) irritability, depression, pain and/or anxiety in the week or two before a period starts. For Nikki, extreme PMDD led her to question her sanity, her future, her ability to keep working, to have relationships and even, to leave the house. For me, this was an eye-opener on a range of levels. Enjoy.

#1523 8 (More) Ideas That Changed My Life - Harps

#1523 8 (More) Ideas That Changed My Life - Harps

I hadn't intended to record a 'part 2' of this chat but I received a surprising amount of (positive) feedback about the first bit, so here it is; the second bit. I will say that, while all these ideas were personally important and liberating for me, they may not all have the same level relevance and/or impact for all listeners (of course). For me, picking and curating content is an ongoing challenge as a podcaster, and sometimes in the interest of authenticity, I explore an idea or topic that may not be universally relevant but hopefully, something most will find interesting nonetheless. Enjoy.

#1522 Hearing, Alzheimers & Ladders - Dr. Hannah Korrel

#1522 Hearing, Alzheimers & Ladders - Dr. Hannah Korrel

Apart from being a Neuropsychologist, Neuroscientist and highly sought-after Clinician, Dr. Hannah is also a great teacher, story-teller and media presenter. As always, this was a fun and informative chat but for the first time in our ‘virtual relationship’, we had a fight. A divergence of opinion. Fortunately, I think we’ll survive the trauma. Enjoy.

#1521 The Bloke Who Created Netflix - Marc Randolph

#1521 The Bloke Who Created Netflix - Marc Randolph

Just over three years ago (May 2, 2021), I chatted with the co-creator of Netflix, Marc Randolph. I’m not sure what I expected but I was blown away by his humility, integrity, life philosophy, brilliant mind and conversational integrity; he was fully aware, present, engaged and happy to chat with the bogan from the bush. I loved this chat.

Meh

I’ve listen to Peter Crone give many interviews, and his message is always powerful, and on this show was also nice when he was given the space to explain, however the host (bless your heart), requires some work when it comes to his own complexities which come out in so many comments that made me cringe. The example of learning something from his Muslim neighbors was typical white guy trying to be above the average but it was truly an example of just how his own bias is a reflection of his environment. There were several expamples given by the host which was so superficial. I hope the host continues his own journey of growth and I wish him well, and as Peter says “life will present you with people and circumstances to show where you aren’t free.”
