I enjoy this podcast with two exceptions. 1. Rob clearly believes himself to be a moral authority. 2. Rob is cynical and somewhat ignorant of the very real American ethos of “Why not” as opposed to the common European ethos of “Why would you.” These two issues hold the podcast hostage, minimizing achievements of almost every president. If a man makes a good decision, Rob wants to know why, trying to find the selfish reason for it so he can present himself as morally superior. He doesn’t seem to understand that Americans, in general, are actually positive, kind, honest people and most of the presidents embody that spirit, especially in office. First obvious representation of this is terms. Until FDR, most presidents either served two terms, or stuck to a single term pledge. The ones who went for a third did so reluctantly out of perceived need. It’s funny that FDR was so beloved by them, because he was the first and last American monarch. We were so lucky he was a great leader. I take a star off because of Rob’s holier than thou attitude and biases.
