I love podcasts like this that introduce you to ideas and concepts that would be difficult to come by on your own, and then points you in a direction to learn more (it’s what I was hoping grad school was going to be like!). In part, it’s because the guests are so interesting, but also because the host prepares so incredibly well for each guest — which in turn helps us the listeners receive so much from each episode (and keeps us coming back.) Thanks for this podcast, it’s fantastic!

This is a very important podcast that has opened up a world of music to me. But I wish the comments were open because I’d like to discuss the topics covered in the episodes and ask some questions and stuff.

It doesn’t get any better for knowledge hungry music students- of any age. It’s the 6th diminished school of Partimento. The two most inspiring schools of musical thought, both steeped in real tradition, both overlooked by the convention music factories, in one outstanding podcast.

Every episode is fantastic! All the content are so informative and insightful. I love the thoughts and experiences every guest brought to the show. And all the questions the host prepared are right on the spots!! Keep up the good work!! 👍👍👍

The Nikhil Hogan Show is, without a doubt, one of the best music podcasts around. The host chooses very interesting guests and engages them with intelligent questions and personal charm. If you really want to learn something about music from a fresh perspective, I highly recommend this show.

Here’s a show for real music lovers. Or lovers of ‘real’ music. Played with instruments n stuff. And not just artists whose influences stretch ‘all the way’ from rock to pop to blues & country & funk (ie everyone). Nikhil finds people you’ve never heard of & has fascinating conversations about all sorts of stuff you NEVER hear about— orchestral underscoring in major motion pictures, different song forms interacting in longer jazz and classical (yes classical!) compositions, and does it all with incredidible intelligence yet also, most importantly, a sense of wonder and discovery entirely missing from the music writing/blogging scene these days. Even if you think you hate the music of the day’s guest, give it a moment. You’ll soon find yourself engaged, maybe enlightened, and who knows, perhaps even tapping your feet. Or conducting, as the case may be. It’s not a class, not a lecture. Just smart dudes getting giddy over all sorts of music they make and love. And it’s awesome. Listen. Subscribe. Tune in. Get giddy. Listen closely. Then spread the word. This is the music podcast the world has been waiting for! And no, we’re not related!

I heard about Nikhil Hogan and subscribed to see what the buzz was all about. I fell in love with this show. Nikhil interviews really cool, great artists. His style is very entertaining, which makes the show really fun to listen to. And I love what his guests bring to the table. They all have great life stories and great accomplishments. It’s super interesting to hear about their music and also their lives and how they got where they are. I am hooked - keep bringing it, Nikhil - you rock !!!!
