    Matthew 10

What does it really mean to follow Jesus? In Matthew 10, Jesus takes His disciples from being learners to being sent ones. They had spent time watching Jesus, learning from Jesus, and growing—and now Jesus was sending them out to advance the Kingdom of God. In this message, Pastor Woody challenges us to understand that following Jesus is about more than Sundays. We are called to learn, grow, and go. You don't have to know everything before you can be used by God. You don't have to have all the answers. You simply need to be willing to obey. God has already given you something that someone else needs. Freely you have received. Freely give. This message explores: • What it means to move from disciple to sent one • Why Sundays alone will never be enough • How God wants to use what He's already taught you • Why you don't need all the answers to share Jesus • How to trust God when He sends you into difficult situations • Why obedience is more important than having the perfect words • How to recognize your value in God's eyes • What it means to live every day on assignment • How we can advance God's Kingdom in ordinary moments You are not simply a church attendee. You are a disciple. And if you're a disciple, you're also someone Jesus is sending. Learn. Grow. Go. 📖 Matthew 10 📍 Family Church 🎙️ Pastor Woody #FamilyChurch #Matthew10 #KingdomAdvancement #FollowingJesus #ChristianDiscipleship #YouAreSent 00:00 Welcome to Family Church 01:00 Why Fellowship Matters 02:00 Studying Matthew Together 03:00 Matthew 10 — Jesus Sends His Disciples 05:00 From Disciple to Apostle 07:00 You Are Sent 08:00 The Impossible Assignment 10:00 Freely You Have Received, Freely Give 12:00 Don't Let Religion Replace Love 13:00 Learning to Trust God's Provision 15:00 Sheep Among Wolves 16:00 The Cost of Following Jesus 18:00 Persecution and Difficult Times 20:00 Sometimes We Cause Our Own Problems 21:00 God Will Give You the Words 23:00 You Don't Have to Know Everything 24:00 Following Jesus Has a Cost 25:00 Don't Be Afraid 27:00 God Knows You and Cares About You 29:00 You Are Valuable 30:00 Acknowledging Jesus Publicly 32:00 Don't Deny Jesus Through What You Don't Do 34:00 Loving God More Than Anyone Else 35:00 Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus 37:00 Your Job Is Obedience 38:00 Be Nice to Other Christians 39:00 The Enemy Wants You to Feel Worthless 40:00 You Are Valuable to God 42:00 From Learner to Sent One 44:00 Living Every Day on Assignment

    Matthew 8 | Woody Burpo

What happens when Jesus moves from teaching with authority to demonstrating it? In this episode, Pastor Woody walks through Matthew 8, where Jesus heals the sick, welcomes outsiders, calms storms, casts out demons, and reveals His authority over every area of life. Through six powerful encounters, we're reminded that Jesus still meets hurting people with compassion and power today. Whether you're facing fear, sickness, shame, uncertainty, or impossible circumstances, this conversation points to one unchanging truth: Jesus has authority over it all. You'll also hear practical encouragement about bringing others to Jesus and living on mission every day—even in unexpected places. Summary Matthew 8 marks a dramatic shift in Jesus' ministry. After revealing the principles of God's Kingdom through the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus begins demonstrating His authority through miraculous encounters with broken people. Pastor Woody walks through six stories that reveal Jesus' power over disease, sin, fear, nature, spiritual darkness, and impossible situations. More importantly, these miracles reveal God's heart toward people who feel forgotten, ashamed, or overwhelmed. One of the central reminders from this message is that God is not mad at you. Jesus didn't avoid the leper—He reached out and touched him. That same compassion still defines the heart of Christ today. The episode also explores the faith of the Roman centurion, the calming of the storm, the cost of discipleship, and the challenge to become people who don't simply experience Jesus—but who actively bring others to Him. Pastor Woody closes with a practical story from a Burger King stop on the drive home from conference, illustrating that ministry opportunities often appear in ordinary moments when we're willing to be available. 00:00 Welcome & Podcast Intro 01:00 General Conference & The Bigger Mission 08:20 Matthew's Structure 10:00 The Authority of Jesus Begins 13:15 Jesus Heals the Leper 17:00 God Is Not Mad at You 18:40 Faith of the Roman Centurion 21:30 You Need Jesus More Than a Pastor 23:00 Healing Peter's Mother-in-Law 24:00 Counting the Cost of Following Jesus 25:00 Jesus Calms the Storm 26:00 Delivering the Demon-Possessed Men 27:30 Which Crowd Will We Be? 29:00 Jesus Has Authority Over Fear 31:00 Invitation to Trust Jesus 37:00 Living on Mission Every Day 44:00 Burger King Story & Final Challenge

    Matthew 5 | Andrew Hamm

The Sermon on the Mount: More Than You Think | Matthew 5 | Family Church Matthew Chapter 5 contains some of the most well-known words Jesus ever spoke — and some of the most misunderstood. In this message, our guest speaker walks us through the entire chapter, verse by verse, unpacking what Jesus was really saying in the Beatitudes, in His teachings on murder, adultery, divorce, oaths, and loving your enemies. Here's what most people miss: Jesus wasn't coming to get rid of the Old Testament. He came to complete it — to be the lens through which all of it finally makes sense. And when you read Matthew 5 through that lens, everything shifts. In this message you'll discover: What "poor in spirit" and "blessed are those who mourn" actually mean Why the hunger and thirst Jesus talks about is nothing like a mid-afternoon snack craving How Jesus raises the bar from action to heart — and why that's actually good news What the Sermon on the Mount has to say about your marriage Why "love your enemies" is the most radical thing Jesus ever said This is part of our ongoing series reading through the book of Matthew together — because the Bible is enough. 📖 Scripture: Matthew 5:1–48 📍   👇 CONNECT WITH US Website: YourFamily.Church Instagram: @FamilyChurchYukon Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/familychurchyukon 00:00 — Welcome & Series Recap (Matthew 1–4) 02:00 — Why We Read the Bible Together 04:30 — Acts 2:42 & The Apostles' Teaching 06:00 — Matthew 28: Teach What Jesus Commanded 07:30 — Beginning of Matthew 5: The Beatitudes (vv. 1–12) 09:00 — What "Poor in Spirit" Actually Means 11:00 — Blessed Are Those Who Mourn 12:30 — Meekness, Hunger & Thirst for Righteousness 15:00 — The Hunger Jesus Describes vs. Our Comfortable Lives 17:30 — Persecution — What It Actually Means 19:30 — You Can't Do This Alone 20:30 — Salt of the Earth & Light of the World (vv. 13–16) 22:00 — Jesus Fulfills the Law — Not Abolishes It (vv. 17–20) 24:30 — Jesus as the Lens for the Old Testament 27:30 — The Pharisees & Righteousness of the Heart 28:00 — Murder Starts With Anger (vv. 21–26) 30:00 — Adultery Starts With the Heart (vv. 27–32) 31:30 — Marriage as a Picture of God's Commitment 35:00 — Oaths & the Power of Your Word (vv. 33–37) 38:00 — Eye for an Eye — Jesus Flips It (vv. 38–42) 39:00 — Love Your Enemies (vv. 43–48) 41:30 — What Jesus Is Actually Asking of Us 43:00 — Challenge: Read Matthew 5 With Someone You Trust  44:00 — Closing Prayer

Advancing the Kingdom: What Do You Need to Give Up? | Matthew 16 | Family Church

What does it really mean to advance the Kingdom of God? In this message from Matthew 16, Pastor Woody challenges us to stop seeing life only from a human perspective and begin seeing it from a spiritual one. Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. That means surrendering our plans, our pride, and sometimes even our comfort so that God's Kingdom can move forward through our lives. In this sermon you'll discover: • Why your values determine the direction of your life • The difference between advancing your kingdom and advancing God's Kingdom • The spiritual authority Jesus has given believers • Why seeing life from only a human perspective is dangerous • What you may need to give up to follow Jesus fully If we want to see lives transformed, disciples made, and the gospel spread, it begins with surrender. The question is simple: What is God asking you to give up so His Kingdom can advance through you? 📍 Family Church 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Real Faith. Real Family.
