Simply Living Wellness Podcast

Donna Abreu

Welcome to the Simply Living Wellness podcast where you’ll learn how to heal yourself, love yourself and how to nurture you mind, body AND spirit through holistic living. Simply living Wellness is about Simply Living and about Wellness. Simply Living is about living in the moment, living in the present. And keeping it SIMPLE. We run too fast, we do too much, we take care of everyone else it seems, before taking care of ourselves. We need to remember to take care of ourselves. A good place to start, at least for myself, is to simply my life. Getting back to basics. Cutting out the fluff and do what matters most. Focus on what’s really important in life. Not being distracted by all the STUFF. The things I hang on to from the past, the things I acquire in the present, the things that accumulate. Wellness, to me, means living a holistic lifestyle where one takes care of their physical and emotional body, their mind AND their spirit. It’s not just about addressing just physical symptoms,

#26 The Healing Properties of Crystals

In this episode of Simply Living Wellness, Donna Abreu interviews guests Megan and Stefanie Anderson about the incredible healing properties of crystals. Learn about these amazing Earth created gems and their ability to transform everything from physical pain to emotional wellbeing, enhanced energy and increased spiritual connection to Source. Stefani and Megan believe that change is inspired one crystal at a time. And by enhancing our awareness and being present in the moment, we can better understand the energy of earth, and how to connect to its power, as well as connecting to one’s own power. Megan and Steafanie have a business together called Life With Crystals, and are connected as a family with their daughter, Zoie. Discover More About Megan… My journey started in the 90’s. I became certified in massage therapy. I enjoyed that. I felt the connection and the energy with that. And I knew that I had a gift, and I knew that I had healing hands. I always lit up when I talked about it or felt it, or when I would see someone in pain, I knew I could help them. So I wondered what else I could do with my life to keep that going. Six years ago, I met some friends of Stefani’s: Kim and Charles O’leary in New York. They own a crystal shop, Crystals on the Rocks. I flew out there and they explained and showed me more about how crystals can heal; and the vibrations of the crystals. Walking into their shop was just the most amazing feeling ever. I didn’t want to leave.  I wanted to come home, but I wanted to take the shop with me. I know there are shops everywhere, but it’s what people put into that, and the love and energy. Knowing that that was the way I wanted to go, I talked with Stefani about starting a business. We tried to figure out how we could incorporate that entire family. Since Zoie is our 7 year old daughter, she is a Star Child. We wanted that to be a focus too. So Zoie’s name means “life” in Greek. Life with Crystals, Zoie is our life, so Zoie is part of the name of our business. We do a lot with our crystals at the house. We’re starting our on-line business at LifeWithCrystals.com. And we’re exploring and give back to the communities. Discover More About Stefanie… I grew up in Fairfield, and migrated to Sacramento early in my career after I got out of college. My journey is quite a bit different than Megan’s. I went into the corporate world of security. I have been there for over 20 years. Megan’s enthusiasm about crystals, about the metaphysical world was something that interested me. Actually I was interested in rocks when I was a child, and I always had a fascination with how rocks, crystals and stones were created by the earth. My job was that I was interested in this path with Megan, so I wondered what this was all about. What is the spiritual world all about for me? Through a lot of research, digging on the internet and my friends in New York, I got very much interested in the healing powers of crystals. So we began this journey together, in agreement that this is something that we both want. Coming  from different places and different backgrounds, and I think it blends very well for our business. Full Transcription of The Healing Properties of Crystals Megan: I’ve always been spiritual in my background. I was raised Catholic, but going through different stages, I felt that connection, but I just didn’t understand it. So after high school, I did some college, but then I ended up just going through certification as a massage therapist and going down that path. I felt connected and felt that that was my path – to give back to people and to help heal them. My hands get hot. I love the feeling I get when I start talking about it. I get excited. When I do work with people, it brings joy to me. I feel the energy coming through my hands. I used to work for the Post Office, and that’s when I knew I needed to get out of there. That was not a good fit for me. But one of my customers was an 87 year old lady that I would visit every day. She had cancer. I would bring my massage table over to her and massage her. I would feel where the cancer was, and I gave her comfort. That’s what I enjoy. To be able to do that and give that to people, that’s what I want. I don’t want the other stuff. I want to be able to give back. That gives me a purpose. THE BUSINESS Life With Crystals is a crystal gem and jewelry shop. Right now, we’re on line. We’re working toward a store front so people can actually come in and feel and see what I’m talking about. When you go to the website, you can SEE it there, and sometimes get connected through the interest. People can feel that vibration. We are looking at offering classes down the road to be able to teach people about the crystals and how to heal. And to have different types of energy work at our shop with we do open up. With COVID-19, we’re tabling the shop for the moment. In the meantime, we’re fine-tuning the web site. For the location, we know we’re going to be guided to where we need to be. Our goal is to have it in Sacramento. FEELING CRYSTALS AND THE ENERGY Donna: I’ve been told when you buy a crystal, when you narrow it down to what type of crystal you want but there are several to choose from, pick each one up and feel it, and feel which one calls out to you. I’m not so good at that. I wish I could feel more about the crystals. Megan: I feel a different vibration when I hold them. But it’s YOUR energy that YOU’RE giving off when you look at crystals. On a website, if you’re directed to look at a particular one if you have an idea…..say rose quartz, but you come across a lapis lazuli, and you wonder why you are so attracted to the lapis. There’s a reason why. The energy that that stone is giving off is something that your energy is wanting. So you really need to pay attention to what your energy is saying,. Even though your mind is saying something else, you r energy is guiding you. So you need to go within and feel that. Stefani: We’ve had some people over to our home where we have crystals on display. And they come with certain intentions: maybe they’re feeling a lot of anxiety or stress, and we talk to them about what kinds of crystals can address their situations. And yet thy might veer toward something different that has different healing powers according to the crystal world. But it may be what THEIR energy really needs to address other underlying situations or emotions in their life. So we help them move through the crystal world, trying to address what’s underneath as well when you’re being drawn to a particular crystal Donna: So it’s not just about picking up a crystal and saying: do I feel anything here in my hands. It also could just be that you notice one that maybe you think is beautiful, or you just have an admiration for it. Megan: At the end of last year, I did have part of our crystals up in Loomis at the Caring Arts Awareness Center and selling them there. One lady came in who was told to get some Black Tourmaline. So she was looking at those stones, but she kept looking at the Pyrite Sphere sitting to her right. She kept turning “why am I being drawn to this one?” She ended up getting both, but come to find out, there’s a reason why she needed the Pyrite that was calling to her. She was there for a reading, so the reader did tell me that was Pyrite was very important and she needed that too at the time because of what was going on with her life at the moment. Without us knowing what we have, we may not be aware but our intuition is telling us without us even knowing what we need. D: So part is having something you’re trying to address, and then look for a crystal may help with that. And another part is just going into a shop, which is why it’s so important to have a physical shop where people can walk in. S: You can still browse on the website. We do have a lot of the stones there. We’re still collecting more. But we have the descriptions there that tell you what each crystal is for, and what the unique purpose is.  If you’re going in for a certain purpose, look that up and it’s going to guide you to what crystals might benefit you. D: Once you find a crystal, what do you do with it? S: There are different things: there are palm stones you can hold in your palm and work with that, meditate with them. What I do is I have a couple of bracelets that I wear throughout the weeks – I switch them up. Or I take a tumble stone and put it in my pocket. You have two pockets on your right hand side….there’s a tiny pocket there. That’s really a crystal pocket. And I put my stone in there. So you’re always carrying the carrying the crystal with you for protection or for whatever is its purpose. At our house, we have Selenite in the four corners of our house. That keeps the house balanced and protected, and gives an extra protection that we need. Placing the crystals throughout your home helps balance the energies that you may or may not need. D: We have a difficult entry onto a road in our neighborhood to that has a blind corner. I was told to put a crystal there on the corner. First clear it and then put the intent that this is to keep everyone safe who is pulling out on this blind corner. This friend has them all over her property. She told me story: there were some teenage kids that were causing a lot of ruckus in their neighborhood. She’s on 10 acres. The kids were doing some vandalizing and driving a truck around, etc. These kids hit every property, but just skipped hers completely! Everyone else had damage done, but since she had crystals around, and I think they protected her property. M: We have the Selenite in our house and I feel more protected. I actually do drive in my car with Selenite and Black Tourmaline for an extra protection also. I do feel a difference.  I feel that it helps with the negative energy t

#25 Breathwork Therapy: Discover How Guest Jules Carpenter Healed Herself from Severe Postpartum Depression

In this episode of Simply Living Wellness, Donna Abreu interviews guest Jules Kandah Carpenter on Valentine’s Day! She has a powerful story to share – about how she went from extreme postpartum depression, anxiety and insomnia to finding her way back to life and joy. She attributes her transformation to breathwork, meditation and tuning into Spirit. Having gained so much from breathwork herself, she then went on to become a certified breathwork facilitator, learning the alchemy of breath technique, among others. Jules is also a pranayama yoga teacher, a second degree Reiki energy healer, and more. Postpartum disorders are not discussed often enough, and yet so many women suffer terribly from postpartum depression and anxiety. And they often don’t even realize what is happening, or what is causing the depression. In this episode, you’ll learn about breathwork and it’s powerful healing qualities. You’ll discover the benefits of diaphragmatic breathing and how it’s much more powerful than other forms of breathwork. Full Transcription D: I did a Facebook live this morning for Valentine’s Day, and it was about self-love, and the three ways that I think are the most critical or my top ways of loving myself. It was fun to do that. J: I just had a personal sauna session for my self-love. D: Jules and I live in the same town in Nevada County, in Northern California. Here there are a lot of healing modalities and practitioners here. Where you grew up and about your early background J: I grew up in the Midwest. I’m from Michigan. I lived in a small town. My dad sacrificed his driving time – drove a long way in order for us to live in this small town and go to a smaller school. I was the baby of 5 sisters. So I grew up in a powerful, energetic home with all kinds of female energy and power, and I got to witness that.  I have an interesting role in that – exploring my sisters and what they were exploring in their world, and then me seeing what wasn’t working for them, and delving into a spiritual practice – actually pretty early in my childhood. D: Do you attribute that to your sisters or were your parents also spiritual? J: We were raised Catholic and I didn’t agree with a lot of those practices, and I knew at a young age that there was something more. My sisters left the practice of Catholicism and I wondered why. It wasn’t until I started reading a book on all kinds of religions at a young age when I realized there was more out there than just Catholicism. That really started a spiritual path for me when I was about 12. D: I didn’t have that personally growing up. I wrote a blog article about how I found spirituality, but I didn’t find it until much later. I knew about religion and God, but then I started seeing the hypocrisy in religion. J: It was a huge part of my surviving childhood as the baby. D: Where did you go next? When did you come out to the West? J: I met my now husband in my mid-twenties at a music festival. I was offering sound healing. He was offering art installations, and I was part of the crew of art in the music festival – so we were in the background. We met there, fell in love, and I was finishing my Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. So I had an opportunity to finish my last course in California – San Francisco. It was a big jump. My husband just jumped on that. He always wanted to live in California as well. So we basically got to know each other as we moved to the Bay Area for a couple of  years. I also learned Yoga certification. I was teaching Yoga to that for free – just community classes. I knew I had a strong practice, and I wanted to offer it to people. Then in San Francisco,  I became officially certified. And I had been practicing Reiki for a couple of years, but became officially certified in yoga and really added so much to my practice with Yoga and meditation. I dove a little bit deeper and then started a path of offering it more to people, while I was working with kids in occupational therapy. D: Your husband does these practices also? J: Yes he s also a Reiki Energy Healer, and he and I have spent a lot of time in yoga and meditation together. Now we have a practice of meditating together, meditating separately but have couples meditations. He loves breath-work, so that’s always fun to offer that to my husband. D: I’m a second degree Reiki. But I just use it for myself and my family. J: It’s so humbling every time. D: So then you got pregnant….. J: So we knew we wanted to have a kid, and we weren’t really trying, but we knew we wanted to, but the time when we knew we wanted to is close to when we were eloping in Hawaii. We eloped in Hawaii, had a beautiful ceremony. It turns out I was pregnant during our marriage ceremony. So we hit the ground running as soon as we got back, found a beautiful set of midwives in Nevada County, and my pregnancy was okay. The emotions were really hard for me, but I just figured it was part of the process. It was also pretty hard on my husband. He just love me through it, and knew that things were changing. After having my daughter, the postpartum feelings came on pretty quickly. D: You had already moved to Nevada County? Or you came here for the birth? J: We had already moved. We knew we wanted to get out of the City, so we moved from the Bay Area into the middle of nowhere in Nevada County area. Then we were married and I was pregnant here in Nevada County. D: So the birth was with no drugs at all? J: No meds. It was really awesome to be at home. I feel blessed that I got to do that. D: So depression started right away. Describe J: It was so wild. It’s not talked about enough, so in my mind, the idea of postpartum depression was that it randomly happens to people, and it’s so rare, and when it comes on, it’s so extreme…..like you feel like you’re going to hurt your child or hurt someone in your house. In my mind, that was the only way that you could have postpartum depression if those were the things you were feeling. Thankfully, I didn’t have that experience. The thing that brought me the most joy was my daughter. She really kept me grounded throughout, but it was pretty much within …. Actually I remember the day that I realized it was coming on n a weird way – it was Thanksgiving – two and a half months – and we had a FriendsGiving with all our friends. The whole time I felt awkward talking to my friends. I felt I had nothing to contribute to the conversation. I was quiet. I felt sad at this beautiful celebration. And that’s how I started to know that something was up. And then two weeks later, we went to Mexico with my mother-in-law and  father-in-law. While we were there, my daughter had a terrible sleep regression – like 45 minutes of sleep. I just spiraled into these really dark feelings about life, and I didn’t enjoy one minute of my trip. There WERE moments I enjoyed with my daughter and my family, but inside of me, I was just feeling so uncomfortable with who I was and I didn’t know why until midway through that trip. D: Your daughter wasn’t sleeping so she was keeping you up and you weren’t sleeping???? Yeah. D: Lack of sleep is tough. I think that’s the hardest part about being a new mom. I had postpartum depression, which I didn’t even realize at the time. I think a lot of that was from lack of sleep. So you discovered it half way through? What led you to suddenly realize what was going on? J: Every moment of our trip, I felt like I was picking fights with my husband. And one moment, we were sitting in the hot tub, and grandma was watching the baby so we could get a little break. I said to him: I don’t feel good. And he looked right at me and said: I KNOW that you don’t feel good. I said that I thought there was something deeper going on but I don’t know what. To be very honest and raw, we came home from our trip and I’d like to black this out, but we had an argument and I lost total control of my body – like I didn’t even know who I was. I was in a fit of rage over something silly. And my husband was really scared. He didn’t know what was happening. He was frightened. Once I left with my daughter. I went into nature and visited a friend and came back, and we were both crying and my husband said: I’ve been researching all day, and I’m pretty sure you have postpartum depression. It was sweet especially after all the rage I put forth. He really supported me to start getting some help. I’m so grateful. So that was only at four months postpartum. D: What kind of help did you seek out? For me, they wanted to put me on Zolaft. I had no interest in that. Talk about your journey. J: Any mom that chooses to go the route of medications, I have no judgment for you. That is hard, it’s crazy. You feel crazy. I felt crazy. I found an amazing therapist in this area that I was drawn to because he uses a lot of spiritual practices. Our first conversation on the phone, I knew this was different. It felt really good. In our first session, we barely talked. He guided me into an amazing meditation that was like a lineage of meditations that have been passed on to hm. After my first session, I felt like this is what I need. I continued seeing him, and the insomnia started for me. My daughter started sleeping and I stopped sleeping. I was also seeing an Acupuncturist for my insomnia, and taking any herb for my mood that I could take. Whatever anyone was suggesting, I was trying to take and nothing seemed to be helping. The meditations with him, I felt the best with him. It would last for a little bit afterward, but I would often find myself back into my head. At one point, it felt like my whole life dissolved in front of me. D: Had you gone to a traditional doctor also? You were open and aware enough to start down your path. Not every new mom is there. Which is why we’re doing this ca

    #23 The Allergy Kit FAQ’s

In this episode of Simply Living Wellness, Donna Abreu interviews guest, Ynge Ljung, who comes back to the show to talk more about allergies and intolerances, and about her creation: The Allergy Kit, which you can use to treat allergies yourself, in the comfort of your own home. It saves you lots of money and time visiting a Nate Practitioner, for example, on a weekly basis. Almost everyone suffers from some kind of allergy or food intolerance. Most people don’t even know they have allergies. Diseases, such as celiac disease, Alzheimer’s, Hashimoto’s, for example are all thought to be caused from wheat allergies. And symptoms such as fatigue and depression and eczema and bloating and hives and many, many more can all be caused by allergies. Donna dives deeper into the nuts and bolts of The Allergy Kit. She has been using the kit herself for a couple of years now. She even cleared her cat allergies with The Allergy Kit, which felt like a small miracle. She also uses it on her kids. Since Donna had questions about The Allergy Kit, she wanted to get those answered for others who most likely have similar questions. Why do we have allergies in the first place? We’re not supposed to have allergies. Allergies occur when our immune system is not strong enough. So, we have to build up the immune system. We also have to train the brain to understand it’s not supposed to react to the offending food or item. That is exactly what The Allergy Kit does… it resets the body to be “in harmony” with the offending food or item, so that the body does not react to it anymore. In this episode we talk about the different allergy kits and how to use them. Interview Transcription D: So I am thrilled to welcome Ynge Ljung to the show once again. Hello, Ynge! Y: Hello there Donna. D: We’re so delighted to have you here. So Ynge, we’ve heard your story before on the previous podcast. And I encourage our listeners if you did not get a chance, to listen to the former interviews with Ynge about allergies. She also talked a lot about autism. She has a book published about autism in kids, and all the spectrum disorders (the A Spectrum), and how many of those disorders are caused by allergies. So it all ties in together. So why don’t you start, Ynge, by talking about The Allergy Kit … how does it actually work? How is it that I cleared cat allergies, specifically, from my body? I went from having major blisters on my eyeballs within an hour of being around cats and severe asthma that I had to use an inhaler, to being completely now unaffected by cats one day to the next. It really does work. So what is actually happening that something that severe is able to be cleared from my body? Y: First of all whenever you have an allergy, it’s because your immune system is not strong enough. And we have to build up the immune system. That is why The Basic Allergy Kit contains the 7 vials that you have to use first. And they consist of different foods, toxins and vaccines. So you can start to build up your immune system by absorbing nutrients in the foods cleared from your once allergic fields.. D: So everybody starts with the Basic Kit, because most people are allergic or have intolerances to the many items in the 7 vials. Y: Yes. I have only met one person in my over 20 year old practice with allergies that didn’t have any allergies. Only one person. And I don’t know why….I don’t know if it’s because of the food we eat, because of the toxins that are on the food, the vaccines that lower our immune system….. I think there are a lot of different aspects that influence us. When I grew up, everything was organic without being organic. We’re not supposed to have allergies. You’re not supposed to be allergic to a cat. I don’t really know how to explain it. It’s that your brain think it’s supposed to react to cats…if its hair or whatever it is in the cat that you react to. But that’s a wrong response. Eliminating the allergy is that the body detoxes and the brain understands that it is not an allergy, and it’s not supposed to react to it. D: So using the vials and the laser on the vials and the different acupuncture points in the body, that’s what’s changing the brain, balancing it? Y: This process balances the brain and returns the body to status quo – so the body understands it is not supposed to be reacting to different things. I think also the more we do the treatments – remembering the basic kit is just the basic kit – it’s the starter kit. But by keeping on treating for what you react to, you’re able to more and more absorb nutrients in foods and stay healthy. D: We start with the base kit. I know you’re adding molds, and another one you thought should belong in the base kit because it’s so common – Y: No, the basic kit still has 7 vials. And I have an Environmental Allergy Kit that has the mold bacteria and virus in vial. That’s one you can also use if you’re getting sick. D: Wow, that’s handy to know. We’re in the flu season now, so listeners, when you’re feeling like you’re coming down with a cold, you can just do the mold vial as prevention. That’s good to know. Y: And then we have pollen/weed/grass in another vial. So many people are allergic to pollen and other growing things. The next is dust and dust mites. I had a reaction myself and I didn’t know that dust mites are such a common allergen, and many, especially kids who are treated for asthma, bronchitis and all the respiratory problems….and it’s really just basically an allergy to dust mites. I was surprised. I treated myself and I got over it. D: So how do you know these kids have that allergy, or is it just a matter of when you treat them with this common dust mites, then their symptoms go away? Y: Well, if they have environmental allergies, these are the allergies they have. Also the last of the environmental kit is trees and wood. That is also pollen…more tree pollen. And what I realized is that people are allergic to environmental allergies. These are the basic four that they are allergic to. And I realized that also when they’re allergic to environmental stuff, you’re also allergic to cats and dogs. Many people don’t think about it because they don’t have an animal. So it’s also possible they don’t even know when they are around a cat or a dog, which are everywhere….so maybe they have an allergic reaction and they don’t put it together that maybe it’s a cat or a dog. D: So you suggest starting with the Base Kit, then doing the Environmental Kit. Y: Or if you know you have environmental allergies, just get the Environmental Kit. Now I’m also putting together a Food Allergy Kit. So if you know you’re more allergic to foods, you buy the Food Allergy Kit that has fish, protein (pork and beef and lamb), soy, and more so people can get a more complete kit. The problem I had was that people would buy just The Allergy Kit, which is the foundational kit, and then they think that will treat them for all the allergies, but the  base kit is just the start. That’s why I have started to separate food allergies, environmental allergies. And if you have both, you can order extra vials. But people should start with one of these three kits.  And it’s more economical to buy a kit than to buy the vials separately. And this way, they don’t have to put out a lot of money in the beginning. They start with the kit and work on that. D: I know it’s important to wait 48 hours in between treatments when you’re doing these kits. Y: Some people have reactions: headache or feeling tired or something. Then I just suggest they wait another day. It’s not a race. And some people don’t feel anything, but the body is still reacting and the body needs to recuperate between the treatments. That’s why I want to have 2 days between. D: That’s important. I did one of the treatments (I’m repeating the Base Kit and was on vial 2 or 3), but the next morning I work with swollen lymph nodes and fatigue, and I think I was a little bit under the weather when I did the treatments, so that’s another important thing. Make sure you’re feeling healthy, not menstruating for women. Y: Yes, the first 3-4 days of menstruation is a time that it’s better not to treat because you could have a reaction with the body is working hard menstruating. D: And the same if you feel like you’re getting sick, which was the case for me. So I just held off and, now of course I’ve got to get back into it! It’s easy to forget!! And then you use the stress vial with those vials as you do the treatment. So talk about that a minute, why the stress vial. Y: When we have anything, a cold, disease or allergies, every single cell in the body is under stress. This is after experimenting and working with it in my clinic for many years with allergies. I had one patient who always was so nervous and upset, and fidgety. So I created a stress vial and started to treat her with that together with the treatments and I had better results. So I started to use the stress vial with other patients too. So I realized the result is better when you do the treatments with the Stress Vial. D: And you send a stress vial with every kit? Y: Every kit has a stress vial. And you can also treat stress with the stress vial anytime, even between treatments. It doesn’t have to be 48 hours between. D: In fact, that’s the case with all the emotional vials, right? Y: Yes, emotions can also be treated anytime…..even together with the kits. D: It’s fascinating: There’s a vial for each kind of emotion: love, anxiety, stress, etc. So I’ve been using those quite a bit on myself and my daughter. Y: Some ask why “love” is in the kit. Well, we don’t love ourselves enough. Some people have difficulty loving themselves. And this is one way to help with that. D: Or thinking we

#22 Hands on Osteopathy: Discover the Original Practice of Cranial Osteopathic Medicine

In this episode of Simply Living Wellness, Donna Abreu interviews guest Dr. Daniel Allen about the original practice of Osteopathy – hands on Osteopathy.  It’s difficult to find doctors who practice this original form of hands on healing and body manipulation. Dr Alex explains how this practice has changed over time and has become more of a traditional medical practice moving away from the hands on approach. This change is particularly true in the United States. In Canada and Europe, one can still readily access the hands on healing approach by practitioners of cranial osteopathic medicine. What is osteopathy? Well, according to Medical News today, osteopathy is defied as… “An osteopathic physician will focus on the joints, muscles, and spine. Treatment aims to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Manual medicine means that both diagnosis and treatment are carried out with the hands. Osteopathy is a complementary therapy.” Let’s hear about it from Dr. Allen who has practiced and studied this practice for over 30 years. Discover: How the bones in our skulls are not fused like traditional belief, rather have inherent motion, a physiological joint motion. Dr Allen refers to this as the inherit fluid breathing life mechanism. How a slight and subtle movement of the doctor’s hands (it really does feel like he’s hardly doing anything!) can have a profound affect on the body’s ability to heal, especially from pain. A little bit About Dr Allen’s background… Dr Danial Allen was birthed by the same general doctor he saw growing up for commons colds or broken limbs. When he broke his leg, he was taken to this general doctor, who in the back room, made a wooden splint with his chainsaw while Dr Allen as a young child waited in the treatment room. Fast forward to Dr Allen’s years in traditional medical school, he felt fortunate enough to travel to national conventions and weekend craniosacral workshops where he learned that the bones in the skull have inherent movement. No one had mentioned this movement in biology, life sciences or medical school, and so this discovery fascinated Dr Allen. Medical doctors teach and talk about a fused skull that does not move. At first, Dr Allen was angry at this vast difference in teachings and beliefs. He later discovered that the word “inherent” is what scientists dispute. “What makes the motion?”, they would question. “There are no muscles inside the central nervous system to cause this motion.” Yet, Dr Allen learned that motion does not just exist as fluid motion or breathing motion, or heart circulatory motion, but that motion is also inherent. It’s the cells themselves in the bones that expand and contract. The bones in the skulls actually have joints in between them called sutures. These sutures have a synovial fluid in the articulations of the bones. If you look closely at each suture, it describes a motion. The sutures have bevels on one side and bevels on the other, as well as pivot points. If you look at just one bone it doesn’t seem possible, but if you look at the whole skull as a unit you see how the sutures/joints of the bones describe a motion. For example, the temporal bone where it meets the parietal bone has a sliding nature. And where the temporal bone meets the sphenoid bone, you’ll find a pivoting nature. And where the temporal bone meets the occipital bone, you’ll find a jack lift – a jugular process that actually lifts up in an axis of motion that is consistent all throughout the skull. Dr Allen realized that the bones are not fused at all, rather they have subtle motion, physiological joint motion. Later studies in Biodynamic Cranial Work taught him to learn to listen to the fluids of the body and to the the quality of the movement, the quality of the breathing and of the field of the nervous system. He also realized there is a lot more to medicine that he originally learned. Dr Allen practices the original, hands on form of osteopathy. Modern American osteopathy is full blown MD-style medicine. Yet, one can still find doctors and practitioners that practice the original form of this practice which is a hands-on approach, especially if you are willing to travel to Canada or Europe. In the 1990’s, the insurance companies started to take over medicine, dictating what doctors could do or not do. Payments were made based on diagnostic codes, so the focus for doctors became identifying diagnostic codes and identifying and addressing those in their patient visits. Medicine moved away from patient care and into managed care. Medicine has moved so far away from natural healthcare. Our only hope is that the modern medical students who are lucky enough to have exposure on the side to modalities such as natural medicine, homeopathy, yoga practices, craniosacral practices, healthcare practices and nutrition practices can bring those interests into their medical training and can carve their way into more of a holistic medical practice. We are moving in that direction but still a couple of decades away. Human beings are livings things and should be treated as living things, not as pieces and parts. What students need it “full spectrum” training as Dr Allen calls it. If you are taking care of a human being one should have hands on training and experience. Hospitals work at handling medical diseases. Serious problems require traditional medicine and cannot benefit from just hands on work. Yet, Physicians can make more useful and clearer decisions, and rule out unknowns if they have additional hands on experiences and trainings. How Does Craniosacral Fit In? Craniosacral is becoming quite popular and well known. Many massage therapists incorporate craniosacral into their work. It’s important to find a well trained practitioner. Even though the movement is so subtle and it feels like they’re hardly doing anything as you’re lying on the table, if it’s not done correctly, it could actually be damaging. The other problem is that the craniosacral work may not be very effective by an inexperienced practitioner. So then you end up with a portion of the population who say they’ve tried a craniosacral treatment, and yet say, “it didn’t do anything for me. In fact, it gave me a headache, so I’m not going back.”  Those experiences are a detriment to the movement of the hand on healing work. So you do have to be careful who you let squish your head! How does one find a qualified practitioner? It’s good to get very specific and ask your practitioner about their experience and how they became a i worker. If they say they’ve taken a weekend course and have been doing it for 6 months, maybe that’s not the best person to see. There are good non-physician body workers who are very, very good. Dr. Allen knows several. Some people just have a natural ability. He helped trained a nurse midwife once who was exceptional. She just took to the work, had a feel for living systems, and her hands were a gift to her. And she was able to use them to treat newborns. Craniosacral Work Can Release Emotions Stuck in the Body Emotions that are felt or taken on from years ago (even from past lives or from our DNA that has been passed down by generations) often stay stuck in the body especially when they were traumatic. For example, it’s been known that if you had a great, great, great Grandmother who was burned at the stake for being a “witch”, that pain and trauma can be passed down throughout the generations in the DNA. Until those emotions are released from the cells DNA, it will continue to be passed down often causing emotional problems. It’s important for the practitioner to hold space for the patient during these emotional releases, otherwise, it could actually cause more damage. “Emotions have a huge impact. I love homeopathy for that reason. Maybe we don’t really understand the physiological basis of life”, says Dr. Allen. Dr. Allen now working more in the vibrational world using tuning forks and vibrational bowls and singing bowls. Using those devices along with his hands on palpating the tissues response has been very effective for Dr. Allen. Homeopathy is just a refined vibrational tool in the higher frequencies, as well as acupuncture and acupressure. All of it is shifting the vibrational whole. And then one may start to think that it’s maybe an ancestral vibration – even deeper than childhood, deeper than DNA. It’s a vibrational field that’s transmitted through the lineage of life… and that thought doesn’t even jump over into the spiritual realm. Now we’re getting really deep! But we are still so far away from really understanding the vibrational energies. Can one study what Dr Allen studied? Is it still possible for one to train and study on hands osteopathic medicine and build a practice such as Dr. Allen’s? Can one do it even without going through a full traditional MD training. To study osteopathic medicine in the United States, one has to go the traditional medicine route for studies.  Dr Allen prefers this route which he refers to as “full spectrum training”. His background in  traditional medical allows him to make clearer decisions and rule out unknowns when doing the hands on work. In Canada and Europe, however, osteopathy training is separate from the traditional medical training. They don’t do hospital medicine or prescription medicine rather just study the hands on medicine. Osteopathic medicine teachings, however, has been expanding quickly in the last 10-15 years. There were 18 schools in the US when Dr. Allen went to school, and now there are 38, thirty years later.  This growth is partly due to political changes in medicine and partly due to modern educational systems trying to full needs in rural locations that were short of physicians. Doctor specialties have become widely popular in th

#21 Learn What Causes Allergies with Guest Ynge Ljung

In this episode of Simply Living Wellness, Donna Abreu interviews guest, Ynge Ljung, about what causes allergies, sensitivities, and food intolerances. Allergies have become so prevalent today. Almost everyone suffers from some kind of allergy or food intolerance. Most people don’t even know they have allergies. An allergy is not just about sneezing or having itchy eyes. Diseases such as celiac disease, Alzheimer’s, and Hashimoto and celiac are thought to be caused from wheat.  In this episode, we talk about what causes an allergy or sensitivity. We also look at solutions. If you are suffering from any kind of condition such as joint or muscle pain, a chronic illness, or sensitivities to certain foods, and would like to feel better, then this episode if for you. What Is an Allergy An allergy is a false reaction to something that should be good for you, especially in the case of food allergies. Childhood allergies exist for children to build up their immune systems, yet from an overload of vaccinations, many of which contain aluminum and mercury still (a deadly combination), the natural defenses of the body cannot develop. With repeated generations of vaccinations, babies today are born much weaker than generations before. If you had an immune system working at 100% you wouldn’t get any allergies or illnesses. Some of What Causes Allergies The introduction of fast food in the 1950’s played a large component to the development of allergies. In China, Type II diabetes didn’t exist until the fast food chains were established. Now, approximately 12% of the Chinese population has Type II diabetes. Fast foods contain chemical additives and very little “real” food. Solutions to Allergies Eating Organic is the number one solution to preventing allergies. Food is they medicine. Ynge talks about the significant importance of eating organic. The heavy spraying of roundup on crops (wheat in particular) in the United States infuses glyphosate into the foods. Glyphosate destroys the pathway where the enzymes, probiotics and good bacteria need to travel. How can we digest the food without digestive enzymes? Ynge tells the story of becoming a NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques) practitioner and using this protocol to treat her patients’ allergies – her focus being on autistic children. NAET treatments were too costly and time consuming for parents, and so Ynge developed The Allergy Kit which allows parents to treat in the comfort and convenience of their own homes. One kit can be used for all members of the family over and over again, indefinitely. Each Allergy Kit has seven vials plus a stress vial. Ynge tells the story of one patient, a child, that had severe eczema. After treating the child for chicken, a key component of the base Allergy Kit, her eczema went away completely. Discover why even vegans who don’t eat eggs or chicken need to be treated for these foods. Another essential component of the base Allergy Kit is sugar. The average American eats an approximately 70 pounds of sugar in one year. Learn how to get rid of sugar cravings for good. Over half of the American population is on an anti-depressant. Yet Ynge explains how serotonin, the “feel good” hormone, is created in the gut not in the brain. A specific bacteria has to travel this same pathway to pick up the serotonin hormone and then travel to the brain through the vagus nerve. As we’ve already pointed out, glyphosate blocks this pathway preventing serotonin from ever reaching the brain. Antidepressants are the not the solution to depression, only a band aid. Treat the gut and watch the depression disappear. Testing for Allergies Allergies and intolerances can be to literally anything including emotions! Feeling like you never have quite enough in your bank to pay all your bills each month? Well, you could actually be allergic to money! You can go to a chiropractor that specializes in applied kinesiology and get muscled tested for different foods, your supplements, and other environmental factors such as the many toxins that exist in our food, in the air and water. I have also been to a local chiropractor that has a biofeedback machine that tests for these items. It can get quite costly and time consuming, however, to test for every item possibbly, including emotions. There is a blood test you can do from your own home as well as a test that uses a hair sample. You can learn more at Modern Allergy Management.   More about Ynge Ljung Ynge Ljung has been an Acupuncture Physician since 1995. She is a BodyTalk Practitioner, Naturopathic Medicine Doctor, an Acutonic practitioner, alternative holistic healer and former NAET practitioner. Her extensive education in both Eastern and Western ideologies allowed her to create an easy, powerful and affordable way to “say bye bye to your allergies” once and for all…  Ynge calls the The Allergy Kit. Ynge is the author of Finding Your Lost Child which you can find on Amazon, the Kindle Version. The published book will be coming out in May of next year in book stores. The Allergy Kit and It’s Uses Trying to lose weight? Want to quite smoking? The Allergy Kit has way more uses than to just address sensitivities. Here are some of the kits available for a variety of conditions: The Base Allergy Kit – (Some of the kits below already contain this base kit.) The Weight Loss Kit – Struggling to lose weight? This is why… The Autism Kit – For children or adults on the Spectrum The Pet Allergies Kit  – Have allergies to your pets? This one is for you! The Quit Drinking Kit – Want to quit drinking? The Quit Smoking Kit – Have a tobacco addicition and want to quit? The Emotions Kit – Experiencing anxiety, fear, grief, depression, worry or procrastination? The Nut Allergies Kit – Do you or your family member have a nut allergy?   The post #21 Learn What Causes Allergies with Guest Ynge Ljung appeared first on Simply Living Wellness.

#20 The Spiritual and Physical Benefits of a Yoni Egg Practice with Guest Anna-thea

In this episode of the Simply Living Wellness Podcast, Donna Abreu interviews guest, Anna-thea, about how to develop a deeper, more spiritual, more nurturing relationship with our bodies through the practice of self-nurturing our sexuality by use of a yoni egg practice. She teaches us about heart-based expressions of sexuality, about how to love ourselves, how to set boundaries for ourselves, and how to communicate our authentic self. Anna-thea talks about how, as women, we can connect to our divine feminine essence, how to access those softer, subtler energies inside of us, and how we can notice subtle responses in our bodies that we aren’t normally aware of. The world today contains so much unhealthy projection around our sexuality that is not supportive to human growth and expansion. This episode is for you if you want to heal yourself from shame around sexuality from previous trauma, or conditioning from how sexuality is portrayed in the media? Maybe your Father was a sex addict or derogatory towards women. Maybe your partner is a porn addict. Maybe you want to experience more love and pleasure around your sexuality. This episode is also for you if you want to learn how to balance and strengthen your pelvic floor, and if you wish to gain the many physical and spiritual benefits of a healthy pelvic floor. This topic is so much more than sexual education. It’s about including our sexuality into our entire being. In a previous episode with Anna-thea, we learned about heart-based communication in order to improve your relationships. Do you find yourself in frequent arguments with your spouse or partner? Do you argue with co-workers or your children? If you want to learn about heart-based communication, we encourage you to go back and listen to that episode. Learn how not to be the nagging wife, NOR the wife who puts on a pretty face and pretends everything is alright. I also interviewed Anna-thea about Managing Your Emotions. If you are interested in learning the secrets of how to transform your life by learning how to reclaim your body as a woman, and how to empower yourself to awaken your divine feminine power, then I highly recommend that you go back and listen this episode. What is a Yoni? Yoni is an ancient tantric term, the Sanskrit word for vagina that means sacred space. Yoni has no negative or sexual connotation making it a perfect word to describe this part of the female anatomy. The Sanskrit term for the male anatomy is lingam which means wand of light. Using these ancient expressions for the human sexual anatomy shifts our relationship with this part of our bodies. Anna-thea studied and received her certification at the Tantric Institute Integrated Sexuality. She is the author of the book, Empowering Yourself by Loving Your Body: The woman’s guide to reclaiming yourself as sacred . Anna-thea also does astrology readings which are more than just readings. She provides coaching during the readings. Do you want to know who you are? Al sides of who you are? Your cards will guide you. The yoni egg practice, used mostly by the concubines in ancient China, is an ancient Chinese practice used to strengthen and tone the female anatomy. A yoni egg is crystal egg that is placed in the vagina. Traditionally, crystal eggs made of jade were used but Anna-thea likes to use and suggest rose quartz crystal eggs also. Each has different properties which we learn about in this episode. Both spiritual and physical benefits. A yoni egg practice can provide these beautiful spiritual benefits: Deeper, more spiritual and nurturing relationship one’s your body More connected to one’s divine feminine essence Ability to access those softer, subtler energies within us Increased confidence as a woman Crystals also hold intentions, so it’s a good idea to treat it as a friend, perhaps naming it and blessing it upon insertion. “Let this yoni egg keep me safe.” Everyone has both masculine and feminine energies. It doesn’t matter if you are female or male. Different crystals hold different properties and energies. The jade egg carries masculine energies that when inserted into the female anatomy can create a nice balance in women. Some of the masculine qualities include: Grounding oneself Setting boundaries Increased focus and achievement of one’s goals Rose quartz crystal holds more subtle, feminine energies and helps with qualities such as increasing emotional warmth, nurturing and balancing. To learn more about the differences between these energies, you can read Anna-thea’s blog post: How To Tell If You Show More Masculine Or Feminine Energy Amazing Physical Health Benefits from a Yoni Egg Practice Our female anatomy is not just about sexual pleasure or birthing babies. Our female anatomy is also about our own feminine health and being healthy in our bodies. When we remove the arousal part of sexual attention, we can then work with deeper energies by nurturing the muscles, increasing pelvic floor balance and also give “her” some relaxation and downtime. The physical benefits of a yoni egg practice includes: Increased skin complexion for a youthful-looking face Overall increased health in the pelvic floor Vaginal and pelvic floor dexterity Increased intensity of orgasmic response Increases sexual reflexology Learn about the benefits of pelvic floor massage and why Anna-thea calls it pelvic floor care and maintenance: Wondering how often to wear the yoni egg? #19 We Can All Be a Psychic Medium with Guest Ingrid Turner

In this episode of Simply Living Wellness Podcast, Donna Abreu interviews guest, Ingrid Turner, about what it means to be a psychic medium and in alignment with your true life’s path. She talks about how to be spiritually connected and receive guidance from spirit guides, the Divine, or one’s higher self. If you are struggling with your current life path, whether it be your career, or with relationships, or wanting more clarity on your life’s purpose, or you just feel that something is missing in general from your life, then this is the episode for you. Ingrid Turner, author, educator, spiritual psychic medium with a background in marketing, became an ordained minister and now has her own ministry where she teaches students how to become spiritual, intuitive coaches and educators. In this episode, Ingrid teaches us about the differences between a psychic medium, channeling and intuition, each being a vehicle to bring through spirit. She explains how there are different levels of energy and beings of different vibrational stance. Your vibration determines what kind of energies you connect to. Divine spirit, for example, has a higher frequency, one of love and faith. Learn why Ingrid’s job is to get out of the way as unglamorous as it sounds. While Ingrid grew up in a very spiritual household championed by her father, there was no talk about channeling or psychic abilities. She tells the story of her first channeling experience when a spirit came to her with a poem which Ingrid transcribed. Her parents were so surprised at her choice of words – quite sophisticated for a 7-year-old. Ingrid tells us about her years of struggle when she had shut down her intuitive and psychic abilities and lived out of alignment from her own life’s purpose. She was a people pleaser and lived a life of being a good girl to everyone else but herself. She lived in a toxic relationship and with addictive drinking. She hit rock bottom when shame took over. “It’s so easy for people to use numbing agents like alcohol and drugs, TV and social media in today’s world, because of all the negativity being broadcasted. Life is hard, life is a struggle. People think it’s the norm.” Ingrid enrolled in Alcoholics Anonymous where she regained her spiritual foundation which opened her up to accepting an invitation to a shamanic healing event. This event was transformational. In fact, Ingrid experienced a “cracking open” as she likes to call it, a dramatic and abrupt spiritual awakening. This “cracking open” was so abrupt that Ingrid felt ungrounded for an entire year after, yet support showed up in the most unexpected ways. Ingrid knew however, it was time to change her career and dedicate her life to be an intuitive healer and educator. Ingrid would literally feel physical pain and depression when went back to working marketing projects. After working as an intuitive healer and medium, Ingrid received the clear message from her guide Monz to open a ministry and educate others in doing this spiritual healing work. Announcing the Bhava Spiritual Mission In September 2017, Ingrid opened a church called the Bhava Spiritual Mission with the purpose of starting a ministry so that she could teach her work to others. In April 2018, she launched her first ministry with its year-long training program. The first half of this international, online program focuses on teaching people to connect with their divine spirit and to develop a spiritual practice for themselves. Part of her job as the educator is to guide her students on when they are connecting to spirit versus when they are in their minds. This helps students to feel the difference, so they can practice on their own. We can all connect to spirit. We can all become a psychic medium. This work is not reserved for “special people”. The second half focuses on teaching students marketing skills and assisting them in launching their healing business. Students who join this program or take any of Ingrid’s classes become part of this international, online community and support group for life as part of her Forever Training Program guarantee. It’s ok to charge money for spiritual work. Ingrid had to break through her own blocks and preconditioning with the tie between spiritual work and earning money. In her one-on-one healing sessions and in her courses, she works with her clients and students to break through their own financial blocks. You can learn more about Ingrid Turner and the Bhava Spiritual Mission at her website, http://BhavaMission.org or email her directly at Ingrid@bhavamission.org Be sure to listen to this entire episode for a special discount offered by Ingrid to our guests.                   The post #19 We Can All Be a Psychic Medium with Guest Ingrid Turner appeared first on Simply Living Wellness.

About
