Jesus prays that his followers would be “one” in a way that reflects the relationship between the Father and the Son. What do you notice about the connection between our unity with God, our unity with one another, and the world’s ability to recognize Jesus? What might we miss if we think of Christian unity merely as “getting along”? K2. The sermon contrasts knowing about the ocean with actually knowing the ocean by swimming in it. What do you think is the difference between knowing facts about God and actually knowing God? What are some signs that our faith has moved from the classroom into the water? GROW G1. The sermon repeatedly invites us to say “WOW!” before “HOW?” when we encounter mysteries such as being “in Christ,” Christ being in us, and receiving the glory Jesus received from the Father. Where in your life do you tend to demand an explanation before you allow yourself to worship? What might it look like to simply sit with God’s mystery for a while? G2. The breath prayer, “I am in you. You are in me,” is deliberately simple but carries a profound truth. If you carried those words with you for one ordinary day, what moments might they change—your anxiety, your conversations, your work, your relationships, your temptations, or your prayer? How might remembering that you are in Christ change the way you experience an ordinary Tuesday? SHOW S1. The sermon ends with the invitation to “quit the classroom and go for a swim”—to move from learning about God to experiencing his presence and love. What is one concrete step you could take this week to create space to seek God rather than merely think about God? What would “going for a swim” actually look like for you? S2. Jesus says that the unity of his people has a purpose: “Then the world will know that you sent me.” Think about Cornerstone, your Growgroup, your family, workplace, or another Christian relationship. Where could greater unity become a visible testimony to Jesus? Is there a relationship where God might be inviting you to take the first step toward greater unity?

In John 17:13–17, what does Jesus say about his disciples’ relationship to him, the world, God’s Word, and the evil one? How are these connected? How does understanding Jesus as the Word of God (John 1:1, 14) deepen “I have given them your word”? Grow G1. Why can following Jesus, the Word of God, put us at odds with the world’s values? Where do you see this tension? G2. Why does Jesus pray for protection from the evil one rather than removal from the world (John 17:15)? What does this show about his followers’ purpose? How does union with Jesus shape life in the world? G3. What does submitting to Jesus’ Lordship look like in everyday life? Which areas are easiest or hardest to surrender? How did you react in that moment? Grow G1: Matthew 27:51-53 | What stands out to you most among the physical reactions in creation at the moment of Jesus' death, such as the tearing of the temple curtain, the splitting of rocks, or the opening of tombs? G2: Matthew 27:51| The torn temple curtain symbolizes God breaking down the barrier between Himself and humanity. How does knowing you have direct access to God change the way you approach Him in daily prayer and worship? G3: Nahum 1:5-6, Psalm 78:15-16 | Dan notes that splitting rocks represents both God's judgment against evil powers and His miraculous provision of life-giving water.
