    333. The Black Eagles podcast (March 16th, 2025) - Konyaspor 1-0 Beşiktaş | Solskjaer's Black Eagles lose again! This time against 9 men!

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Beşiktaş have gone from a 6 match win streak to now back to back losses int he Turkish Süper Lig, following last week's abyssmal display against a 10-men Gaziantep. This time the Black Eagles may have hit a new low, as they lost against a 9 men Konyaspor! Despite the circumstances of the match going int heir favour with the hosts being reduced to 10-men in the first half after a horror tackle from Melih Bostan on the returning Gabriel Paulista. Despite being reduced to 10-men however, Konyaspor -- much like Trabzonspor earlier this season -- took the lead on a set-piece. But unlike earlier this season in Trabzon, the Black Eagles were completely unable to fight themselves back int he match. In the second half, with plenty of time on the clock, Konyaspor were even reduced to 9 men after Alassane Ndao saw his second yellow, but Beşiktaş were still completely uncapable of fighting themselves back int he match despite the two men advantage. Potentilaly a new low for them in this already lowpoint riddled season.     Beşiktaş have seen their positive momentum unexpectedly halted following a painful home defeat at the hands of Gaziantep FK. Ciro Immobile had put the Black Eagles 1-0 up from the penalty spot in the first half, after Rafa Silva was brought down int he box by Viana (who later saw his second yellow). But despite starting the second half well and forcing Gaziantep's goalkeeper Burak to several good saves, it was the visitors who scored against the run of play. When they then later went down to 10-men and the Black Eagles were pushing for a second, again the visitors struck against the run of play following a collective switch off at the back. Beşiktaş have won six matches straight under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and have, for the first time this season, won four games in a row in the Turkish Süper Lig. The Black Eagles didn't have the easiest match against Kayserispor however, despite a promising start the visitors restored balance and it took the Eagles until right before halfitme to open the scoreline. In the second half Beşiktaş struggled and were unable to kill off the game until a late penalty, won by substitute Ernest Muci and converted by another substitute Semih Kiliçsoy sealed the deal for the Black Eagles! The Black Eagles came away with a thoroughly deserved win against Eyüpspor to leapfrog them in to 4th place. Following last week's win against Trabzonspor, the Black Eagles are now in an excellent position going forward to secure European football through the league route next season. Rafa Silva continues to up his numbers under Solskjaer aswell, with two assists and a goal today he was involved in all 3 of Beşiktaş' goals. Semih Kiliçsoy finally found the way to the back of the net again aswell and Keny Arroyo made his debut for the Black Eagles coming on in the second half for an excellent João Mário. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Beşiktaş have come from behind to beat Şenol Güneş' Trabzonspor -- who had been creeping up to the Black Eagles in the standings in recent weeks -- thanks to goals from Rafa Silva and Milot Rashica. Despite being at fault at the 0-1 from Simon Banza in the 17th minute, Rafa managed to redeem himself in the second half after magestically brushing in a shot past Ugurcan early in the second half. Several minutes later Milot Rashica completed the comeback after a Trabzonspor defender deflected the ball in his own goal. The Black Eagles held on to their narrow lead and kept all 3 points at home against their former success coach Şenol Güneş, earning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first big win in the Turkish league against a historical rival.
