He Turned Off My Fix Because His Traffic Dropped

Eight days ago, Anton audited a member's Google Ads account. Specifically, the search text campaigns, the keyword-triggered ads that sit at the top of the results page above everything else. What he found was broad. Not brand names, not SKUs. Category-level keywords, the kind that pull enormous volume from people who are still deciding whether they want the product at all. So Anton rewrote the whole thing. Phrase match only. Brand names, the product names under those brands, and SKU numbers. Nothing else. Then he logged in this morning to see how it was going. Every campaign he built was paused. The old broad ones were back on. When he asked why, the answer was one sentence: traffic really dropped. Of course it dropped. That was the fix. This episode is about why that reaction is so common, and so expensive. You can buy 100,000 visitors on Fiverr for ten dollars. None of them will ever take out a credit card. Broad keywords are a slower, more respectable version of the same trade — real humans, real clicks, real ad spend, almost no intent. Somebody searching "standing desk" doesn't know the size they want, the color they want, or whether they can afford one. Somebody searching a brand name, a model name, and a SKU number already knows all three and is buying from someone this week. Anton learned this one the hard way, back when it wasn't even paid traffic. Over six months more than a decade ago, he paid an SEO firm tens of thousands of dollars to rank his store for niche-level keywords. They delivered exactly what they promised. Rankings went up, traffic poured in, and sales barely moved. Call it a $50,000 tuition payment on a lesson he now gives away free. The back half of the episode is the actual build. Three parts: Start with your own store name on exact and phrase match, so competitors can't buy your brand out from under you and people who already found you can find you again. Then go into the alpha and beta shopping campaigns from module six of the Drop Ship Lifestyle Blueprint, pull the search terms that have already produced return on ad spend, and build search text campaigns around only those. Proven money, nothing speculative. Write the ads to mirror your shopping ads as closely as you can: brand, product name, SKU, price, delivery window. The budgets stay small because the volume is small. That's the point. And when it's set up right, one search pulls you up three times on the same page. Shopping ad at the top, search text ad under it, organic listing under that. Traffic reports feel good. Deposits are better. Members: bring your questions to Discord. Not a member yet? AI Influencers and Half-Truths

There's a growing wave of YouTube videos promising that AI can do the work for you: one prompt, walk away, come back to a finished result. In this episode, Anton Kraly explains why a lot of that content isn't telling you the whole story. The episode was sparked by professional video editor Vlad Sateev, whose recent videos break down popular "AI edits your video for you" tutorials. He points to on-screen timers that skip large chunks of time and results that were likely fixed by hand or through a lot of back-and-forth with AI. Anton had heard the same thing from his own team: these workflows don't perform the way the tutorials show. Anton also explains why these videos get so many views. Beginners can't tell what the work really involves, the algorithm rewards big claims, and many creators earn affiliate commissions when viewers sign up for the tools they promote. He connects this to the "free Shopify store" scam he covered a few weeks ago and shows how the same pattern is now appearing in AI-for-e-commerce content. In this episode: How edited AI demos hide the manual work behind the resultWhy affiliate links shape which AI tools get recommendedWhen AI costs you more time and money on credits than doing the task yourself (sometimes two minutes in your Shopify theme customizer)Where AI actually stands as of September 2026, and why Anton still uses it throughout his businessesThe DSL principle: biggest return for the smallest input Anton is still a big believer in AI.
