The Standard: A Mindset of Discipleship (Audio)

What happens in our minds matters. As we continue our series, The Standard, we’re looking at how discipleship begins with the way we think. Romans 12:2 reminds us not to simply follow the patterns around us, but to allow God to transform us from the inside out.   Our attention is pulled in a thousand directions every day. What we focus on shapes us. The thoughts we dwell on can affect our words, our choices, and even the way we see our circumstances. Following Jesus means learning to guard our minds and focus on what is true and good.   The good news is that we don’t have to stay the way we are. God is still transforming us. Your past doesn’t have the final word. Your mistakes don’t have the final word. God’s transforming power is greater than your former condition. Join us for The Standard: A Mindset of Discipleship.   You are invited to join us, in person, each Sunday Morning at 10am to Connect - Grow - Serve! Just Come & See! ______________________________ Note: Our sermons are posted one week after they are preached. This allows time for editing, provides an added measure of safety, and encourages people to gather for worship in person. The church is more than a sermon. It is a community of believers growing, serving, and worshiping together, something that can only be fully experienced in person.   If you do not have a church home, we would love to help. Please visit www.stjoecofc.com and reach out to us. We would be happy to help you find a Bible-based church where you can grow in your faith.

The Standard: Vision for Discipleship (Audio)

We’re starting a new series called The Standard, and we’re taking a look at what it really means to follow Jesus. Being a disciple is more than simply believing in Him. It’s learning to live like Him. 1 John 2:6 gives us a clear picture: if we say we live in Jesus, our lives should reflect His.   Following Jesus takes more than good intentions. It takes training, growth, and intentional choices. We can spend our lives becoming really good at many things, yet miss what matters most. Discipleship is about allowing Jesus to shape every area of our lives.   So here’s the question: Do you really want to become more like Jesus? And are you willing to put in the work to get there? This week, we’re looking at the vision Jesus has for His disciples and what it means to rise to The Standard.   You are invited to join us, in person, each Sunday Morning at 10am to Connect - Grow - Serve! Just Come & See! ______________________________ Note: Our sermons are posted one week after they are preached. World Changing Prayers: 1 Samuel 1-2 (Audio)

For the last several weeks, we’ve been exploring World Changing Prayers and discovering what happens when we bring our hearts, our struggles, and our faith to God. Today, we finish the series with Hannah’s story in 1 Samuel 1-2.   Sometimes prayer comes from a place of deep pain. Hannah knew what it meant to pray, wait, and wonder if God was listening. Her story reminds us that we can come to God honestly. We don’t have to hide our brokenness.   Hannah’s story also reminds us that we don’t always see the bigger picture. God may be working in ways we cannot see. His timing may not be our timing. But He is still God, and He is still at work. Sometimes our greatest moments of faith begin when we finally surrender it all to Him.   You are invited to join us, in person, each Sunday Morning at 10am to Connect - Grow - Serve! World Changing Prayer: 1 Kings 18-19 (Audio)

We all love the mountaintop moments. Those times when God feels close and everything seems clear. But what happens when we come back down? Elijah experienced an incredible victory, yet soon found himself discouraged, afraid, and questioning everything.   Most of life isn’t lived on the mountaintop. It’s lived in the ordinary moments. The routines. The struggles. The everyday stuff. God doesn’t promise us one mountaintop after another. He calls us to trust Him and listen for His voice, even in the valley.   So what does this have to do with prayer? A powerful prayer life isn’t just about asking God for the next big moment. It’s about learning to seek God and hear His voice right where we are. Even in the ordinary, God is still working. Are you listening?   You are invited to join us, in person, each Sunday Morning at 10am to Connect - Grow - Serve! Just Come & See! ______________________________ Note: Our sermons are posted one week after they are preached. World Changing Prayer: 2 Kings 18-19 (Audio)

Hezekiah shows us what it looks like to pray when life feels overwhelming. He trusted God, stayed close to Him, and had the courage to face a situation that seemed impossible. When trouble came, he took it straight to God. He asked for help, but he also listened.   But Hezekiah’s prayer was about more than just getting out of trouble. He wanted God’s name to be honored. He wanted God’s kingdom and power to be seen. He trusted that God could step into the situation and change what seemed impossible.   Hezekiah reminds us that prayer really matters. God can move in ways we never expect. What might happen if we prayed with that same kind of faith? What if we focused less on our comfort and more on God's glory?
