Theme Parks and Nerd Culture - Scubacast #6

In this Scubacast, our main theme is Theme Parks.  I talk about their place in nerd culture, whether they are a worthy addition to a fandom, and whether the companies are utilizing their intellectual properties properly.  On top of that, we discuss the closure of Telltale Games, the Diablo Immortal announcement, then have a brief discussion on the concept of hype. Conforming to Nerd Culture - Scubacast #5

In this Scubacast, we are going to talk about nerd culture at large. First, though, a couple notes about the big Dota 2 tournament and the end of a Telltale era. Then, we talk about the changes toward a monolith of opinion that is seemingly taking over nerd culture. Finally, we discuss the terms overrated and underrated. Game Developers and Their Online Communities - Scubacast #4

In this episode of the Scubacast, we talk about quite a few things. Our news item today is going to be my experience with Vidcon. The main topic, though, is the relationship between game developers and their online communities, with a focus on how much credit and/or blame they should and do receive for the work of others. Then, we wrap things up with a story about my YouTube channel as a form of answering the questions I got last time. Superhero Saturation - Scubacast #2

In this episode of the Scubacast, we delve into another batch of topics that I don't normally talk about on my channel. This time, we start by quickly going over what people were talking about from the last Scubacast. Then, it's time to talk about Toys R Us closing down for good and my thoughts regarding that. Then, it's time to talk about our main topic, Superhero Saturation. Is what DC and Marvel are doing too much for the normal moviegoer and viewer? Finally, we wrap things up with a quick discussion of why this video and other videos took a while to go up. The Rise of the Arc - Scubacast #3

In this Scubacast, we quickly go over the reaction I got from the last Scubacast. Then, it's time for a brief discussion about the upcoming E3 and a small change YouTube is trying to make on the site. Then, it's time to talk about the gradual change in storytelling toward a longer story arc told in smaller installments. Then, a brief personal update. The Current State of Movies and Television - Scubacast #1

In this first Scubacast, I try to talk about a lot of things. The first thing is how I plan on formatting the podcast and what the plans are for the future. Then, I go over a couple side topics, including the highest grossing games on Steam in 2017 and the WHO's decision to classify "gaming disorder" as a mental health condition. Then, it's time to head into our main topic, which is the current state of movies and television (including streaming services). On a side note, I do not bring up the recent sexual harassment or sexual abuse movement in this podcast because I feel it is a topic that would be better served by more time devoted to it than I could deliver here, among several other reasons. Also, a big thank you to the Patrons who helped make this possible.
