    Elijah is scunnered... and the Lord agrees! 1 Kings 19: 8-21

    In this sermon we think about Elijah being scunnered because of Israel's unfaithfulness to the Lord. We see that the Lord provides for Elijah, reveals Himself to Elijah and then puts a plan in place so that those breaking the covenant will be removed. First preached: 31st May 2026.     Elijah is broken - 1 Kings 19: 1-9a

    In this sermon, we think through whether Elijah was afraid of Jezebel or whether he was broken because of her failure to keep the covenant. If the latter is the correct interpretation, we see the implication of this being worked out in Elijah's life and the Lord's tenderness with him.     In this sermon, we see Elijah praying for it to rain in the aftermath of the contest on Mount Carmel. We see how Elijah holds to God's promises in prayer - and how he perseveres in prayer and has faith to believe that God can do it. We think about how easy coveting can be - and how we all, at various times, want to 'keep up with the Jones'. But we also think about how coveting shows a lack of thankfulness to God for his provision for us. We also summarise all the Ten Commandments, which we see probe the questions - 'Where is our heart?' and 'Are we serving the Lord wholeheartedly?'   First preached: 22nd March 2026.
