    Stopping Isn’t the Same as Changing: What Comes Next Matters

    Have you ever been proud of yourself because you finally stopped doing something? Maybe you quit the habit. Stopped sending the angry text. Walked away from the pattern. That matters. But is stopping the whole change? In Ephesians 4:28, Paul describes someone who used to steal. He does not stop at “don’t steal.” He keeps going: work honestly, then have something to share with someone in need. That is not just subtraction. It is redirection. The old pattern takes. The new life contributes. The same hands that once took are now working and giving. So maybe the next question is not only: What do I need to stop? It is: What good am I going to do instead? In this episode, we talk about why quitting an old pattern can leave an empty space, what it means to replace rather than merely remove, and how real change gives your life a new direction.     When Anger Shows Up: What You Do Next Matters

    Have you ever gotten angry so fast that your mouth almost got there before your mind did? Ephesians 4:26 says, “Be angry and do not sin.” Paul does not treat anger and sin as the same thing. Anger can be real without getting to be in charge. So maybe the better question isn’t, “Was it wrong that I got angry?” Maybe it's: What am I going to let this anger become? In this episode, we look at Ephesians 4:26–27, the difference between feeling anger and feeding it, why Paul warns against letting anger linger, and how resentment, revenge, bitterness, withdrawal, or a cutting response can grow when anger is given room.     Speak the Truth: Why Honesty Builds Trust

    Honesty sounds simple until something is at stake. Someone asks, “Are you upset?” and you say, “I’m fine.”Someone asks what happened, and you give the version that makes things a little easier.Maybe nothing you said was technically false, but you know you left out the part that would change the story. In Ephesians 4:25, Paul says to put away lying and speak truth to one another. But he doesn’t stop with “lying is wrong.” He connects truthfulness to relationship: “Because we are members of one another.” Today we’re looking at why trustworthy words matter, the difference between honesty and harshness, how technically true answers can still mislead, and what the “new self” begins to sound like in everyday relationships.     Take Off, Be Renewed, Put On: How People Actually Change

    Have you ever said, “I’m not doing that anymore,” only to find yourself back in the same reaction, same habit, or same frustration? Knowing what needs to change and actually becoming different are not always the same thing. In Ephesians 4:22–24, Paul gives us a three-part movement: Take off. Be renewed. Put on. There are things that belong to the old life that we are called to stop carrying. There are new choices we are called to make. But right in the middle is something we cannot manufacture by sheer willpower: “Be renewed in the spirit of your minds.” Paul does not simply say, “renew yourself.” That means Christian transformation is not self-reconstruction. It is participation in God’s renewing work. Today we’re talking about the difference between controlling a reaction and changing what keeps producing it, what may be hiding underneath anger, jealousy, defensiveness, fear, or insecurity, and why real growth goes deeper than simply trying harder to behave better.     I Thought I Was Past This: What Old Reactions Reveal

    Have you ever reacted to something and immediately thought, “Why did I do that? I thought I was past this.” Maybe it was your tone. The text you sent. The comeback you fired off. The jealousy, defensiveness, anger, or urge to shut somebody out. In Ephesians 4, Paul goes deeper than behavior. He traces the way we live back to the way we think, understand, and see. Then comes the turn: “But that is not how you came to know Christ.” You didn’t simply learn a better set of rules. You learned Christ. Today we’re talking about what our reactions may be revealing, why the “fruit” often points to something deeper at the “root,” and how real change begins as Christ renews the way we think.     Yet I Will Rejoice: When the Circumstances Are Still Bad | Habakkuk 3

    What do you do when the circumstances are still bad, and you don’t yet see the outcome you hoped for? Habakkuk knew that tension. He looked around and saw violence, injustice, fear, and uncertainty. Then God answered him in a way that didn’t immediately make the situation easier. By chapter 3, Habakkuk is still trembling. The fields may be empty. The crops may fail. The barns may have nothing in them. And then comes one small word: Yet. “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” This episode follows Habakkuk’s journey from complaint to waiting, to a kind of faith that doesn’t pretend the circumstances are good.     I Believe - Help My Unbelief: What Shaky Faith Looks Like | Mark 9

    What do you do when you still believe God is good, but part of you is tired, uncertain, or struggling? In Mark 9, a desperate father brings Jesus one of the most honest prayers in Scripture: “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief.” But he isn’t the only one in the story who has reached the end of himself. The disciples have already tried to help, and couldn’t.     If Jesus Loved Them, Why Did He Wait?

    John 11 gives us two statements that don't seem like they should belong together. Jesus loved Martha, Mary and Lazarus. And when He heard Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was for two more days. By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Martha met Him with words her sister Mary would later repeat: “Lord, if only You had been here…” Maybe you know something about an if only. If only the answer had come sooner.If only that decision had gone differently.If only this hadn't happened. Today's Lifeline Morning Show sits inside that tension without pretending the hurt isn't real. The miracle that follows isn't merely a spectacular ending to Lazarus' story. It's a sign revealing who Jesus is—and as John's story continues, Lazarus coming out of his tomb helps move Jesus toward His own. That's where we're going today.
