    Direct Trade

    Digging through my cabinet the other day, I came across some old cacao powder. Through an example of recent events in Mexico, and looking deeper into the people who do the work to harvest coca beans, we start to see a problem with global commodities. In some senses, select products are only available through specific growing regions. But where can we make an impact on things that we consume that have a much more broad region it can be created?     A Sanitary Commission

    With summer in full swing, I am well behind on yard work. Poison ivy is a problem plant down here. Through the scratching, one exposes broken skin, leading to infection. The deaths in the American Civil War also brought forth an effort to improve cleanliness conditions; The Sanitary Commission. And the building of the Panama canal brought forth an even greater leap forward in cleanliness. How we keep our selves and personal area clean has come a long way to keeping the majority of society healthy.
