Some suggestions...
09/22/2019
I admire the effort and hope it goes well. It’s a newish yet very competitive field. Some suggestions: make the readings longer. They are too short to get into. The listener wants to be invested in the stories, they are not just for bathroom breaks. Don’t be afraid of making half an hour podcasts. Second: you offer paranormal fare and yet, the ten minutes I listened to (Dark Woods) contained at least three stories where no paranormal events happened at all. Seriously. They weren’t even that scary. Maybe I have to listen to other episodes but this one was bland in content. Check out other one-reader podcasts (I personally love “let’s read”) and listen to their cadence and tones. You will also notice they usually abstain from personal commentary. That is best. And practice your readings beforehand so you don’t stumble every sixth word. Reading out loud is seriously harder than it seems. Practice often and listen to your own recordings. If you bring in a partner, don’t chit chat and laugh and think your audience is having a grand time along with you. Listeners are not friends of yours who will find value in exchanges that bring nothing to the table. It’s a huge error of many podcasters across the board to confuse their own fun with the listener’s. Finally, although your voice comes across nice and clear, as a narrator, you will find there is need for a “muffler” of some kind (I’ve no idea what these things are called in the business) because the audio transmits even when you swallow. Ideally, just your voice should get through. I hope my suggestions are taken in the spirit of a listener who wants to be helpful. I’m a writer and know it’s painful to take criticism. Oh how I know. Keep going. Don’t be discouraged. Perfect is not the point. Better is. I love to hear a woman doing this (we need more brave women daring themselves to do anything and everything) and sincerely wish to see you and your channel grow. ♥️♥️♥️
