GITN Podcast explores the strange side of reality. Hosted by Phil and Travis, GITN dives into the stories that make you stop and ask, “Wait…what really happened here?” From unexplained events and bizarre true crime to UFO encounters, hauntings, strange history, government mysteries, cryptids, unusual people, and cases that simply refuse to make sense, no subject is off limits if there’s a fascinating story behind it. Some stories have answers. Others have theories. And some only get stranger the deeper you look. Phil and Travis dig into the facts, question the accepted explanations, explore the possibilities, and give their own perspectives along the way. Sometimes they agree. Sometimes they don’t. That’s part of the fun. GITN isn’t about one category. It’s about curiosity. If it’s strange, mysterious, unexplained, disturbing, fascinating, or just hard to believe, there’s a good chance we’ll talk about it.

Why Did They Confess? The Disturbing Truth of The Norfolk Four

Four U.S. Navy sailors confessed to taking part in the rape and murder of 18-year-old Michelle Moore-Bosko in Norfolk, Virginia. There was just one enormous problem.Danial Williams, Joseph Dick Jr., Eric Wilson, and Derek Tice were all excluded from the crime-scene DNA.Then investigators found Omar Ballard. His DNA matched. And Ballard repeatedly told police that he acted alone. In this episode of GITN Podcast, we take a deep look at one of the most disturbing false-confession and wrongful-conviction cases in modern American criminal justice: The Norfolk Four.We begin with the 1997 murder of Michelle Moore-Bosko and the evidence investigators had before anyone confessed. Then we follow the investigation as police focused on Danial Williams, questioned him overnight, told him he had failed a polygraph even though the examiner recorded “No Deception Indicated,” and eventually obtained a confession that changed as investigators learned more about the crime. But when DNA excluded Williams, the investigation didn’t stop.It expanded.Joseph Dick confessed. Then Eric Wilson. Then Derek Tice.As additional DNA testing continued excluding the accused sailors, the alleged number of participants continued growing. We compare the confessions side by side and ask a simple question throughout the episode:What did these men actually know on their own, and what information may have entered their statements during police questioning? We examine the changing accounts of how Michelle was attacked, where the assault occurred, how many people were involved, how the men supposedly entered the apartment, who stabbed her, what happened to her body, and how those claims compared with the physical crime scene and forensic evidence. We also look at the psychology of false confessions, interrogation pressure, false-evidence tactics, confession contamination, guilty pleas made under the threat of the death penalty, and how one confession can help produce another. Then the case changes completely.Omar Ballard’s DNA matches the biological evidence. He admits raping and killing Michelle. And in his early statements to police, he repeatedly says the Norfolk Four were not involved. So why didn’t the case against the sailors collapse? We also examine Detective Robert Glenn Ford’s role in the interrogations, the later court findings involving Derek Tice, the 2016 federal innocence findings for Danial Williams and Joseph Dick, the eventual dismissal of charges, the absolute pardons granted to all four men in 2017, and the years it took for the justice system to finally change course. This is not simply a story about four false confessions. It is a story about what can happen when a confession becomes the theory through which every new piece of evidence is interpreted. And it raises a much larger question:When the evidence keeps changing, how long should investigators keep changing the theory to protect the confession?Join us as we break down the complete Norfolk Four case.

The Flatwoods Monster: What REALLY Happened in 1952?

On September 12, 1952, a bright object streaked across the sky over Flatwoods, West Virginia. Minutes later, a search party climbed a dark hillside and reported seeing a towering figure with glowing eyes, a reddish face, and a strange pointed shape surrounding its head. The encounter created the legend of the Flatwoods Monster, also known as the Braxton County Monster or Braxie. But what actually happened that night? Was the creature an extraterrestrial visitor connected to a landed UFO? Was it an unknown animal or secret military technology? Or did a meteor, a distant blinking beacon, a startled barn owl, and human fear combine to create one extraordinary experience? In this episode of the GITN Podcast, we reconstruct the Flatwoods Monster encounter piece by piece, separating the original event from later illustrations, media coverage, and decades of folklore. We examine:• The bright object seen crossing the sky• Why witnesses believed something had landed• The mysterious pulsing red light on the hillside• The reported ten-foot figure with glowing eyes• Claims involving odor, mist, nausea, and irritation• The meteor and aircraft-beacon explanations• The controversial barn owl theory• How darkness, fear, expectation, and group reaction affect eyewitness perception• The role of memory and later retellings• How the creature became a West Virginia cultural iconThe evidence may point toward a chain of ordinary events, but several details remain difficult to verify or reconstruct more than seventy years later. The witnesses appear to have experienced genuine fear. The surviving evidence, however, does not conclusively establish an alien encounter.Where do you land? Was the Flatwoods Monster an alien visitor, a barn owl seen under frightening conditions, secret technology, or something that still has not been explained?Join the conversation in the comments or live chat and tell us which part of the case you find hardest to explain.Subscribe to GITN Podcast for more investigations into cryptids, UFO encounters, paranormal history, true crime, strange disappearances, and unexplained events.
