    #441: Miami's #1 ACC Quarterback - Claude is Their OC

    As we kick off episode 441, we are reminded of the old Zeta "Miss 441" pageant - which spins us into memories of our South Florida youth and Happy Pappy's. And the guys address the amount of swearing on the podcast in the last few months, and how we will now be instituting safe words each week on the show to curb it back. But we quickly get down to the Greentree and break down CBS Sports ranking Darian Mensah as the #1 quarterback in the ACC, and we look down the entire Top 10 and try to figure out where some of these guys actually played last year. We also jump into ESPN's write-up on Miami's "challenging" offseason, in that teams that have made their title runs in previous years have not found a way back to the title game. But everyone seems to think Miami's recruiting and reloading is the difference in getting the Canes back into the mix pretty quickly. That includes Mario going in on a lot of the big South Florida recruits and trying to keep these guys home like Rueben Bain Jr did.  From the Greentree, we transition over to the Watco, as Miami Basketball knocked off Louisville and advanced to the semifinals of the ACC tournament and set themselves up for a March Madness bid. And we shouldn't be surprised that Jai Lucas got overlooked for Coach of the Year in the ACC, even though he was clear-and-away the most deserving for the award. Plus after a few struggles for Miami baseball, Toast and Roman weigh in on where this team needs improvement to make a run when it counts this summer.     We are right into the offseason stories by getting sidetracked by Bourbon talk and Scoop's upcoming vacation to Mexico, before we dive into the new coaching staff hires at Miami. The one that seems to be getting all the attention has been Mike Viti as the tight ends coach, specifically because he was Army's offensive line coach previously - which goes to show a tight end will never miss a block in a big spot again! Plus adding a new perspective to the tight end room could bolster the usage and creativity of the tight ends in the offensive scheme, if Dawson's offense is willing to be more tight end friendly. Plus we touch on Mario's inclusion in TIME Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential People in Sports, including our boy Josh Pray weighing in like only he can, and whether or not that's a real thing or an internet hoax. Brad Crawford also puts Miami at #1 in his way-too-early bowl predictions and how that makes us feel looking at the schedule ahead of us in 2026. And we touch on the successes of Miami basketball, with the prediction that Jai Lucas will be the ACC Coach of the Year in his first season.     #435: Mario's Ranking & Miami's Recruiting - Georgia Tech is His S*x Tape

    We are Scoop-less this week as his daughter competes in a big soccer tournament, so it's Toast and Roman helming the ship. We quickly dive into this week's ranking of the Top 50 head coaches in college football, where Mario came in at #12... even though he's fresh off the National Championship Game. Toast and Roman both pick apart some of the coaches ahead of Mario on the list, including Dan Lanning at Oregon who Mario has definitely surpassed. The state of the defense comes into question, as we are now missing out on some 5-star recruits (largely due to money) and what that means for recruiting going forward. And we're shocked at how boujee we sound by saying we should be getting all these five-star guys because this was never the state of Miami football! Miami also broke his silence on Darian Mensah this week - calling him an "alpha" - and we hear from him on the state of the program and the "positive anger" they have to get back to the title game. Props to Jai Lucas and the Miami basketball team for knocking off North Carolina in Coral Gables, and how Jai might end up as the ACC Coach of the Year - which would be a WILD turnaround for this program.
