Leaving at Halftime is a sports podcast hosted and produced by students at The Post. The purpose of the show is to inform audiences of the going-ons for the various teams that The Post covers. Each week, host Matt Parker brings on a different sports writer to find out the latest scoop on Ohio University and Athens High School teams.

    Volume 2, Episode 22: A look back

    Host Matt Parker is joined by Post sports editors Spencer Holbrook and Pete Nakos for the final episode of “Leaving at Halftime” of the 2018-19 school year. The trio discussed some of the highs and lows that The Post saw throughout this years coverage including the Frisco Bowl, women’s basketball’s success and the shortcomings of hockey.

    Volume 2, Episode 21: Baseball on a turning point

    Host Matt Parker is joined by Post baseball beat writers Anthony Poisal and Scott Thomas where the trio discussed how the Bobcats have fared on the diamond this season. Ohio (8-22, 3-6 Mid-American Conference) suffered another loss as it hosted Ohio State on Tuesday. The Bobcats blew a one run lead and lost 10-8 against the Buckeyes. But with the loss behind them, the Bobcats are back in action as they host Toledo for a MAC series.

    Volume 2, Episode 20: Ohio softball's dominant run

    Host Matt Parker is joined by 'Post' softball beat writers J.L. Kirven and Tyler Johnson where the trio discussed how the Bobcats have performed in their post-tournament season schedule. Ohio (25-11, 6-2 Mid-American Conference) will spend most of April on the road. In its two home series against MAC teams, the Bobcats went 5-1.

    Volume 2, Episode 19: New direction for men’s basketball

    Host Matt Parker is joined by Post assistant sports editor Pete Nakos where the two discussed the hiring of Jeff Boals, the Bobcats 19 men’s basketball head coach. After a sour season, Ohio (14-17, 6-12 Mid-American Conference) decided not to extend former coach Saul Phillips’ contract. Phillips was at the helm for five seasons where he went 88-77 overall and 40-50 in conference play Boals, a graduate of Ohio University, played the mid-90s and was a part of the 1994 MAC Championship team. He was previously the coach at Stony Brook.

    Volume 2, Episode 18: Hockey primed for solid weekend

    Host Matt Parker is joined by Post hockey beat writer Trevor Colgan where the duo discussed the Bobcats’ hockey program as they conclude their regular season schedule and head into postseason play. No. 4 Ohio (18-3-6) will host No. 24 Kent State (19-10-1) in its final regular season series. With the absence of its top two point scorers in forward Gianni Evangelisti and defenseman Jake Houston, along with forwards Cody Black and Austin Heakins out because of injury, Ohio is going to once again have to shuffle its roster in order to find success against a formidable opponent. In the coming weeks, the Bobcats will play in both the Central States Collegiate Hockey League tournament as well as the American Collegiate Hockey Association national tournament. Pending the results against Kent State, the Bobcats will look to hold their No. 4 spot and earn a first-round bye in the national tournament.

    Volume 2, Episode 17: Men’s basketball continues to struggle

    Host Matt Parker is joined by Post sports editors and men’s basketball beat writers Spencer Holbrook and Pete Nakos where the trio discussed the latest disappointment for the Bobcats. In a 114-67 routing to Buffalo, the Bobcats dropped their sixth-consecutive game in a 47-point dismantling. The loss, however, to a trained eye wasn’t as bad as it may seem as the beat writers discussed. Ohio (11-14, 3-10 Mid-American Conference) can still end the season on a positive note, on its terms. It plays host to the current No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament on Friday when Bowling Green (19-7, 11-2 MAC) comes to Athens. If the Bobcats can find a way to win against the conference’s best, it might salvage what has been a tough season.

    Volume 2, Episode 16: An update on the Ohio hockey team

    Host Matt Parker is joined by fellow 'Post' hockey beat writer Trevor Colgan to provide the latest updates on the Bobcats hockey squad. Sitting at No. 5 in the current American Collegiate Hockey Association computer poll, Ohio (15-3-5) earned its first sweep of the 2019 portion of the season at home over then-No. 19 Syracuse. Ohio has bigger and tougher tasks ahead on the schedule, however, as it travels to Central States Collegiate Hockey League foe No. 13 Illinois followed by a home series with No. 4 Iowa State.

    Volume 2, Episode 15: Ohio women's basketball in prime position as postseason nears

    Host Matt Parker is joined by 'Post' women’s basketball beat writers J.L. Kirven and Anthony Poisal, who provide an update on how the Bobcats have performed so far in the new year. Ohio’s only loss of the season so far is an 18-point blunder against Central Michigan at home. Since then, the Bobcats have rattled off five straight wins, including back-to-back road wins. With only 10 regular season games left, Ohio is in prime position to make some noise in postseason play, both in the Mid-American Conference tournament and national tournament.
