But in the grand scheme of things, the fight is small in comparison to what is really at stake. MVP MMA is attempting to put on a massive event that is worthy of a quality MMA show. But with Netflix and MVP teaming up, things really could be different. Pride was once the competition to the UFC once upon a time. Now with TKO ownership, competition seems impossible. But with the backing of Netflix and the Jake Paul money/marketing machine, things could get interesting.     Sean Strickland has beaten the two hardest puzzles in his MMA era: Israel Adesanya and Khamzat Chimaev. Now we look at why he beat Chimaev... People wanted to ignore that but they were always there. Sean Strickland had the right answers and asked the proper questions of Khamzat Chimaev. At the end of the day, we all knew deep down that Khamzat Chimaev had cardio issues. Some were just jaded by the Dricus Du Plessis win and thought Sean Strickland would do the same. Joshua Van and Tatsuro Taira put on a banger of a show. Tatsuro Taira aimed to become the first Japanese champion in UFC history but came up short. Joshua Van had all the answers for the grappling of Tatsuro Taira. His grappling and ability to get up is what won him this fight. Joshua Van now has to fight Alexandre Pantoja, the man he won the title from.Alexander Volkov is an interesting case. He’s not exciting anymore. He’s developed a game that uses his reach well and he sticks with gameplans. Against Waldo Cortes Acosta, he stuck to that plan. While Waldo Cortes Acosta was the faster and heavier hitting fighter, Alexander Volkov won the day and earned another shot at a number one contender fight. Sean Brady bodied Joaquin Buckley. Joaquin Buckley is allergic to wrestling. We saw that with Kamaru Usman and now with Sean Brady. Sean Brady is top five material. But up against those heavy hitters, we can’t trust him to make it out the round. Yaroslav Amosov was another huge winner at UFC 328. He beat a tough Joel Alvarez and made his name known on the big stage. As he works his way up the welterweight rankings, Yaroslav Amosov will be a name fans will have to get accustomed to hearing. While the win over Leon Edwards was impressive, beating the other former champion in Jack Della Maddalena in the way he did was even more impressive. Carlos Prates was never in trouble. Jack Della Maddalena landed huge punches on him. He just couldn’t keep the Brazilian off of him. Now Carlos Prates is staring down a title shot with just another win. If it’s Islam Makhachev, he may not stand a chance. But if it’s Michael Morales or Ian Machado Garry, Carlos Prates will put on another banger. Quillan Salkilld is the newest Aussie contender. With a win over Beneil Dariush, he will have a number by his name in the rankings come Tuesday. While a lot was made of him dropping against Beneil Dariush, I was not as disappointed. In what was a flash knockdown followed by grinding out, Quillan Salkilld out wrestled Dariush against the fence and unleashed a torrid combination to knock out his more experienced opponent.Steve Erceg also had another great win. Taking on Tim Elliott at UFC Perth, Erceg had a unique task ahead of him. Tim Elliott is a very awkward fighter. But Steve Erceg managed to win the boxing exchanges in the pocket and bust up the face his opponent. #ufcperth #ufcreaction #carlosprates

I'm not so sure. While his last two wins have been his highest profile, I have an issue with his mechanics, what we know about him, and how hard he's been pushed. Beating Gilbert Burns is the best thing he's done but at 34, Mike Malott has a lot of work to do.Charles Jourdain and Kyler Phillips tore the roof off the building. In a back and forth, scrambly fight, Charles Jourdain showed us what MMA BJJ is all about. No slight to Kyler Phillips either. He put on a fantastic performance as well, just on the wrong side of the decision. Now Charles Jourdian is 3-0 at bantamweight with wins over Victor Henry, Davey Grant and Kyler Phillips. Time for a ranked matchup like Raul Rosas.The rest of UFC Winnipeg was also a thing. The card itself under delivered and despite not promising much to begin with. He had Carlos Ulberg on the ropes with a bum and blown out knee. But the bushido in him said that he should give Carlos Ulberg a fair shot and actually said he felt bad for him. The dumbest gameplan of the year easily from Jiri Prochazka. Now Carlos Ulberg is the champion, and he deserves every bit of that title. He grit out a tough knockout against a beloved fighter and shocked the world in the process. This is the type of win that legends start their career's with. Paulo Costa surprised everyone in his light heavyweight "debut" against Azamat Murzakanov. Many expected Paulo Costa to lose, to be knocked out. But nearly invincible against southpaws, Paulo Costa had a field day. The open side body kick was there all night. He beat Azamat Murzakanov to the punch all night. And at the end of the fight, Paulo Costa got out of UFC 327 with a third round knockout win. The highlight of the night was easily Josh Hokit. He and Curtis Blaydes went to war. Josh Hokit actually got a brawl out of the timid Curtis Blaydes. Before UFC 327, Josh Hokit talked a big talk, walked a big walk, and had to back it up. He did that so well that he was booked to fight Derrick Lewis at the White House while he was on the way to the hospital. Josh Hokit is annoying to many. But his antics brought eyes to the sport and he will prove to be an asset for TKO for the near future. Cub Swanson had his swan song. In his final fight, he knocked out Nate Landwehr in the first round and went out better than most could ever imagine. In a sport that destroys it's legends to build the next era of stars, not many get the cap that Cub Swanson got. Aaron Pico also got his first UFC win and finally settled the age-old rivalry from Bellator against Patricio Pitbull. Aaron Pico is a force to be reckoned with in the UFC's featherweight divison. #mmapodcast #ufcpodcast #ufc327

    Jiri Prochazka is amazing. With a fan friendly style, Prochazka will put on a show. Against Carlos Ulberg, that will continue. That said, fans haven’t turned on him as they’ve done to other paper champions in the past. We know how good he and Alex Pereira is. That speaks a testament to how fun Jiri Prochazka is. Becoming a two time champion will put him in rare company with names like Jon Jones and the aforementioned Alex Pereira in the light heavyweight division. That’s a great list of names to be in. Carlos Ulberg has a very narrow path to victory. Of course there are the low kicks. But that will be a small part into what Ulberg will need to bring to UFC 327. He’s going to have to bite down and survive the chaos brought by everyone’s favorite MMA samurai. We know what Jiri Prochazka is going to do. The onus will be on Carlos Ulberg to react to that.
