Sounds Atlantic is a podcast heard weekly that is devoted to artists from Atlantic Canada who perform roots and acoustic based music (i.e., traditional, folk, old-time, “Canadiana”/”Americana”, bluegrass, etc.). Atlantic Canadian artists describe it this way:Anita Best (trad Newfoundland singer, folk historian and  Order of Canada member) refers to this podcast as "the best show for down-home music in all of Canada"...Wayne Chaulk ("Buddy Wassisname and the Other Fellers") says "Ron's got to be good right - he's got Newfoundland blood!)...and,Newfoundland and Labrador singer-songwriter Matthew Byrne (solo performer and lead singer/bouzouki player for CBC "Q" host Tom Power's band "The Dardanelles")  says "If you're a fan of great folk and traditional music, you'll find it here, where Ron is dusting off old gems and showcasing what's new and exciting in East Coast folk!"

Renowned for his mastery of the button accordion and his deep commitment to preserving traditional Newfoundland music, Mark was an outstanding artist  - known as a fine singer, brillian multi-instrumentalist and producer. He was also known as a songwriter with a knack for telling stories and keeping the rich history of the province alive through song. Mark was a co-founder of the iconic band “Shanneyganock”, whose contributions spanned over three decades, leaving an indelible mark on the province’s cultural landscape.     Send us Fan Mail Celebrating the music of  Roy (Absalom) Payne (born April 3, 1939)  - a prolific country singer-songwriter from Trout River, Newfoundland, often called the province's "beloved outlaw". Renowned for his storytelling and raw lyrics, Roy has written over a thousand songs that blend traditional country with deep-rooted Newfoundland pride.  Payne remains best known for the 1971 hit "Goofy Newfie," as well as regional anthems like "No Price Tags on the Doors of Newfoundland" and "The Little Boats of Newfoundland". His patriotic song, "I Wouldn’t Take a Million Dollars for a Single Maple Leaf," became a major Canadian hit and remains a fan favourite. Payne composed the soundtrack for the 1977 film Love at First Sight, Dan Aykroyd's debut movie.
