From kindergarten teacher to best selling author, my name is Laurie Wright and I help children’s authors publish and market their books for kids. We talk about productivity, strategies and tactics so that you can grow your impact, even if you only have a few hours a week. I share my biggest AH HAHS, my ups and downs, and I chat with other authors who are busy making their dreams come true. This show is for ambitious #wordnerds who want to make more sales and reach more readers!
How to Set Up Your Author Platform - Logistics
Something we all hear often from authors is that they don't know where to start, which is what keeps them STUCK! Overwhelmed with analysis paralysis- because they technically KNOW all that they should be doing, but they just don't know HOW to get started.
Last week Laurie shared an overall book marketing strategy childrens authors can use, and what she helps authors implement.
Today Laurie walks you through the logistics of how you can set it all up!

Book Review: 'Dear Writer, You Need to Quit'
Written by Becca Syme, 'Dear Writer, You Need To Quit' isn't specifically written for childrens authors, but is definitely still applicable.
This book is part of a whole "Dear Writer' series which is a very cool premise. This one has 15 chapters on things you should QUIT, and those are bookended by 'The Bad news' at the beginning and 'The Good News' at the end!
Have a look at her other books on her site BetterFasterAcademy.com and have a listen to her podcast, The Quitcast.

Book Marketing for Childrens Authors!
Welcome to Season FOUR!
Over the past 3 years we've done a variety of things on here.. we started with interviews and spent over a year listening to interviews with other indie authors of varying experience about how they made it happen for themselves.
Then we started to have more specific topics on the show, and I went looking for guests who could speak to things like seasonal books, rapid release and how it related to childrens books, diversity in childrens literature and loads more.
During the pandemic my recording schedule got messed up right along with our lives, and I fell off the podcasting wagon.
But I miss it when I don't do it. I miss helping in this way.
This summer I put my thinking cap on and tried hard to figure out how I could put out consistent shows that were helpful and valuable, and of course about my fav topic MARKETING!
I think I've come up with a good system for this season, a way to keep me on track and teaching YOU.

First, I have to say I love this show!
I am in the process of publishing my first children’s illustration book.I stumbled across the show while trying to find insight from other authors. I am truly a fish out of water starting this new adventure. This podcast has completely opened my eyes, in a good way. I had no idea how much work goes on behind the scenes when you choose to self publish.
Through this podcasts encouragement and knowledge I truly believe I am up for the task! Thank you for sharing all your insight and providing amazing knowledge for first timers like me.
I’ve binge-listened to almost every episode and even gone back to re-listen to a few. Every episode is either helpful, inspiring, or both. Thank you for sharing so much insider knowledge!
I just self published a book and your podcast has given me so much good information to market my story. I still have a lot of work to do but you have helped, thank you.
