    Pop Psalms: Part 1 - "Psalm 8"

    What determines your worth? For most people, the answer is tied to performance, appearance, relationships, or the opinions of others. But all of those things shift, and when they do, so does our sense of value. Psalm 8 offers a completely different foundation for identity, one rooted not in what you accomplish but in who God says you are. Psalm 8 is a song of praise written by David, placed intentionally in the middle of psalms filled with suffering, crying out, and chaos. Right in the middle of all of that, David writes about the majesty of God and the surprising worth He places on frail, vulnerable human beings. Two themes anchor the entire psalm: reverence and reliance. These are not just poetic ideas. They are the postures that allow us to experience God's greatness in everyday life. This message explores what it means to have genuine reverence for God, why childlike faith is more powerful than it looks, and what the creation story in Genesis has to do with your identity today. It also looks at the story of Job, who asked the same question as David from a very different place of pain, and what his journey teaches us about worshipping God for who He is rather than for what we have.     Rooftop 25: Part 10 - Our Beliefs - Regeneration"

    What does it really mean to be saved? For many people, salvation feels like a vague or distant concept, something they have heard about but never fully understood. But the Bible paints a rich and layered picture of salvation that is far bigger than most of us have imagined. Using the Exodus story as a powerful framework, salvation can be understood through three key features: what we are saved from, what we are saved for, and what we are saved to. We are saved FROM the mastery of sin. Scripture describes sin not just as something we do but as a power that seeks to dominate and destroy us. Jesus said in John 8:34 that everyone who sins is a slave to sin. But Romans 6:14 reminds us that sin no longer has to be our master when we are under grace. We are saved FOR holiness and good works. God does not rescue us and leave us unchanged. He calls us to be set apart for His purposes and to let that transformation overflow into how we love, serve, and live. Ephesians 2:10 tells us we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works that He prepared in advance for us to do. We are saved TO a destination. Salvation is not about escaping this world. It is about being part of God's full restoration of it. Revelation 21 describes a future where God wipes every tear from our eyes, where there is no more death, mourning, or pain, and where He makes all things new. And all of it is powered entirely by grace. Not by a checklist. Not by earning it. Not by proving your worthiness. Salvation is a gift, received through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross.     The local church is one of the primary ways God works in the world and in the lives of people. It is not simply a building or a weekly habit but a living community of believers called together for worship, discipleship, and mission. Just as a body cannot function without its cells, the universal church cannot thrive without healthy local congregations. God gives each church a specific duty suited to its place and people, creates churches for the purpose of spiritual discipleship, and uses congregations as a splendid display of His glory in the world. Even if you have been hurt by a church in the past, that experience does not have to define your future with one. God can use every season, including the painful ones, to shape and grow you. The local church is not perfect, but it is where God has chosen to do much of His most important work. Consider taking one concrete step this week toward deeper involvement in your faith community.

    Rooftop 25: Part 8 - "Our Beliefs - God the Father"

    Father's Day stirs up different emotions for everyone, but no earthly experience of fatherhood can fully capture who God is as a Father. Scripture describes Him as accessible, affectionate, authoritative, and atoning. From walking with Adam and Eve in the garden to sending His Son to make a way back to Him, God has never stopped pursuing His children. He is not a distant creator waiting to be impressed. He is a Father who runs toward us, who wants to spend time with us, and who has already paid the highest price to bring us home. The whole arc of the Bible is one continuous love story between a Father and His children. The only question left is whether we will accept it.

    Rooftop 25: Part 7 - "Our Beliefs - End Things"

    What happens after we die? The Bible addresses this question directly through the teachings of Jesus, who spoke about judgment, heaven, and hell more than almost any other topic. God created people with genuine freedom, and real freedom means real choices with real consequences. Death marks the end of our opportunity to choose, making how we live now profoundly important. The standard for eternal life is not moral perfection or good deeds, but faith in Jesus Christ. Because heaven is perfect and no one can meet that standard on their own, Jesus lived, died, and rose again so that His righteousness could be credited to those who believe. God wants every person to spend eternity with Him, and He respects us enough to let us decide.

    The church has faced scandals, hypocrisy, and painful history that make it difficult to believe in. Yet when we say we believe in the church, we're not endorsing what it currently is, but what God calls it to become. The church is God's people - one, holy, universal, and faithful to Scripture. Despite its flaws, Christ loves the church and is transforming it into His radiant bride. Rather than walking away from the church's problems, we're called to stay engaged and work for positive change while keeping faith in God's power to perfect His people.
