As director of the Center for NaProEthics at the Saint Paul VI Institute, Sister Renee works to explain and promote the Catholic Church’s teachings on reproductive technologies, human personhood, marriage and family life. In her recent article, she reflects on Cardinal Robert Sarah’s critique of how language can shape bioethical debates, particularly regarding abortion, in vitro fertilization, transgender issues and physician-assisted suicide.     RLR Interview with Fr. Joe Laramie: A Conversation on the Pro-Life Movement and the Defense of Human Life

    This week on Respect Life Radio, hosts Emma Ramirez and Jennifer Torres welcome Fr. Joe Laramie, SJ, Director of Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Sedalia, Colorado. Fr. Joe entered the Society of Jesus in 2000 and was ordained a priest in 2011. His ministry has included teaching at the high school level, serving as a college campus minister and accompanying communities in Mayan villages in Belize. He most recently served as the national director of the Pope’s Prayer Network and is known for helping people enter more deeply into prayer. He is also the author of two books focused on personal retreat, devotion to the Sacred Heart and the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola.     RLR Interview with Erin Scherer, Associate Director for Mission Advancement for Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services (CFCS)

    Today on Respect Life Radio, Jennifer and Emma are joined by Erin Scherer, Associate Director for Mission Advancement for Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services (CFCS) in the Archdiocese of Denver. Together, they dive into what it truly means to respect life from womb to tomb. Erin shares about the many facets of CFCS and the unique call each staff member experiences to serve families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As a ministry of the Archdiocese of Denver, CFCS provides funeral, cremation, cemetery and burial services while helping families make decisions that honor their loved ones and reflect the dignity of the human person and the hope of the Catholic faith. The conversation also explores how the Church’s respect for human dignity continues even after death. Erin discusses the importance of reverently caring for the remains of the deceased, providing sacred places for burial and accompanying families through the grieving process. Through programs such as grief support and Precious Lives Burial, CFCS seeks to walk alongside families in their moments of loss and remind them that they are not alone.  The work of CFCS is a beautiful reminder that respecting life means honoring the dignity of every person at every stage of life, including the end of earthly life, while placing our hope in Christ and the promise of the resurrection.
