Ballinesian | Ep 215 - Vita Vea requests trade, Tua's "tight back", Samoan Bullying, Talanei Weekly

BALLINESIAN PODCAST ON THE POLYTICKIN NETWORK BG Wealth is a scam, and other news this week with Samoans talking Sports. Also, submit your comments opposing Deep Sea Mining to the Gov. at deepseainfo@go.as.gov. NFL Training Camps have begun! And so has the drama: Pro Bowl NT Vita Vea wants a new contract and isn't satisfied with the Buccaneers negotiations so far. He reportedly would prefer a move to a California or Las Vegas team. We'll discuss. Falcons' QB Tua Tagovailoa is not practicing due to an undisclosed injury (Schefter reports "back tightness"), but new coach Kevin Stefanski believes he'll return "sooner than later". With fellow QB Michael Penix Jr. sidelined and recovering from his third torn ACL, Tua has a chance to take the reins of the Falcons offense and feed their many weapons enroute to a comeback season. Viral Trends of the Week include asking your parents to react to what your school bully would say to you, and the trend of changing the question after recording your friends' answers to a different question and making them sound crazy. Editing is magic. And in a few headlines from talanei: BG Wealth is a scam investigated by many states and island countries, update your kid's vaccinations with school around the corner, and American Samoa's CCCAS conference ended with the 600-person delegation affirming our ocean is a sacred place and we are charged with protecting God's wonders. Yeah! Go Church! lol Thanks for listening. Support by joining the Patreon: www.patreon.com/thepolytickinpodcast

Ballinesian | Ep 214 - Blessed Golf, Pass-First PGs, Deep Sea Mining in American Samoa

BALLINESIAN PODCAST ON THE POLYTICKIN NETWORK Welcome to Samoans talking Sports, and Deep Sea Mining. Its crazy that a government can sell tens of millions of acres of the sea floor that's literally an ocean away but here we are. This week the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced it was moving forward with a proposed lease notice and intending on taking bids next month. We should not be disturbing our ocean environments. We should explore the deep sea, not exploit it. We definitely should not be risking our ocean, its food chains and our way of life for a chance at potential profits or for a few rich people to become richer. We need to pause Deep Sea Mining until it can be proven that it will not harm the Ocean. We will try and update everything that's happened so far, including our Governor's response to the recent lease announcement. The Deadline to write in and tell Governor Pula your thoughts so he can let BOEM know to stop this will pass soon. Send your comments now! to deepseainfo@go.as.gov. But before all 'at, we talked about Max Holloway knocking out Conor McGregor and then turning around and hosting the inaugural Max Holloway Foundation Golf Classic (Golf! Very Hot Right Now!) at Kapolei Golf Club on Oahu. “This is better than any walk I’ve ever made to the Octagon, or any fight or any moment… At the end of the day, just me being able to give back to the people of Hawaiʻi, that’s what it’s about.” Stay Blessed, Uce. We'll also discuss Samoan PG Kylan Boswell now with the Charlotte Hornets, and how important Pass-First point guards can be to an offense. We're trying a new segment: Viral Trends of the Week (lol please comment name suggestions for this segment!), where we discuss any viral trends we see on the socials, starting with the Netflix documentary sounds, the Saxophones from Boyz N the Hood, Saint Jimothy of Bellevue, and a few trends from the new Moana movie where Islanders splice scenes of the movie with similar videos of their real life in "What They Saw vs What I Saw", and also seeing all the behind-the-scenes footage from everyone who helped bring Motunui to life. Awesome seeing our community shine and shine Together, awesome awesome great makes the heart swell. Let us know what other trends you saw this week, and whether you liked it or absolutely hated it lol. Thanks for tapping in. Support the Patreon (www.patreon.com/thepolytickinpodcast)

Ballinesian | Ep 213 - Is NIL making football "dumb", Libraries are dope, Why Moana got a live-action so fast

BALLINESIAN PODCAST ON THE POLYTICKIN NETWORK Welcome back for a packed episode of Samoans talking sports (and MOVIES)! Raiders' President of Greatness Tom Brady thinks younger players across the NFL (specifically QBs) are being thrust into starting roles very early, forcing many of their coaches to dumb-down offensive concepts. We'll talk through this unforeseen NIL effect and how teams are adjusting. What does this mean for Raiders' first-overall draft pick QB Fernando Mendoza? [He probably won't start any games in 2026 unless injuries arise.] Shout out to the libraries! There are free books, movies, video games, and tons of non-book items like instruments, board games, tools and cool gadgets and gizmos you can borrow for free. Library trips as a dad is way different than as a solo. The Kid Section is a party room with books, legos, puzzles and more. And also unpleasant kids sometimes lol. What are your parental go-to moves when another kid is being rude to yours? Disney's "Moana" live-action remake premieres in US theaters this week. We've been seeing lots of content from the international premieres with Catherine Laga'aia, our new Moana, and Seiuli Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, our returning Maui. With the original animated movie debuting in 2016, this is the fastest turnaround ever for a Disney classic to become a live-action movie, just ten years. [No other Disney movie got a live-action version with less than a 22 year wait (Mulan, 1998/2020), and some had to wait up to 87 years (Snow White, 1938/2025).] Why the quick flip? We'll also list out what we'll be watching out for in this new version: what script changes are obvious, what awesome Pacific culture will be displayed, if we recognize any movie extras as our cousins lol. Shout outs to Donato Fatuesi for her recent work on the Moana blue carpet, getting interviews with the people who made the movie happen. Also shout out to the Jean P. Haydon Museum for displaying some historic artifacts for America's 250th, and probably to McConnell Dowell for helping patch up the road getting into Tafuna High School, we will explain. Thanks for tuning in! We appreciate your time. For more, sign up for the Patreon! www.patreon.com/thepolytickinpodcast
