    The Fire & The Knife

In this message, Pastor Seth Drewry continues the “Abraham: Journey of Faith” series by walking through Genesis 22 and Abraham’s test on Mount Moriah. Abraham leads Isaac up the mountain carrying only two things in his hands: the fire and the knife. Pastor Seth shows how this Old Testament moment points to Jesus, the Lamb of God, and reveals a God who does not demand the death of our children, but instead seeks to fully capture our hearts. He explains the cultural background of child sacrifice, why this passage separates the one true God from all false gods, and how the ram in the thicket foreshadows Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. From there, Pastor Seth applies the story directly to families and the next generation. Abraham was: Available to hear God’s voice Obedient to respond, even when it didn’t make sense Prepared to walk out what God had spoken Willing to trust God completely with his son’s life Using the image of Abraham carrying the fire and the knife, Pastor Seth calls parents, grandparents, and spiritual leaders to lead the next generation “up the mountain” into an encounter with God. The knife represents the Word of God—sharp, precise, and able to cut through lies, sin, and spiritual strongholds. The fire represents the Holy Spirit—God’s presence that purifies, empowers, and ignites a living, active faith. This sermon challenges believers to: Tune their ears to God’s voice and be ready to change course Recognize that not everyone can go where God is calling you—some “donkeys” must be left behind Trust God with their children’s ultimate destiny, even as they faithfully steward and disciple them Carry both biblical truth (the knife) and Holy Spirit power (the fire), instead of settling for dry knowledge or unanchored emotion Pastor Seth also presses into the New Testament pattern of the baptism in the Holy Spirit from the book of Acts, urging every believer not only to know the Word but to ask God for the fire of the Holy Spirit in their own lives. When the fire and the knife come together—Word and Spirit, truth and power—God transforms lives, strengthens families, and awakens a new generation to follow Jesus. If you’re a parent, grandparent, or anyone burdened for the next generation, “The Fire & The Knife” will help you see how to lead young people toward an encounter with God by faithfully carrying His Word and His Spirit every day. 2. Sarah & Hagar

    Sarah & Hagar

In this message, “Sarah & Hagar,” from our series “Abraham: Journey of Faith,” Pastor Seth Drewry walks through Genesis 16 and the fallout of Abraham and Sarah’s decision to “help” God keep His promise. Pastor Seth shows how trying to be our own god—trusting our own desires, taking shortcuts, and stepping outside God’s Word—always leads to broken relationships, regret, and long-term consequences. From Sarah’s impatience to Abraham’s compromise, and Hagar’s pain as a mistreated servant, we see both sides of the story: those who created the mess and those who were deeply wounded by it. Yet Pastor Seth reminds us that the story doesn’t end in failure. God still kept His promise to Abraham and Sarah in His perfect timing, proving that our mistakes do not cancel God’s faithfulness. If you feel like Abraham and Sarah—aware of your sin, compromise, or the mess you’ve made—or if you feel like Hagar—hurt by what others have done to you—this sermon points you to the God who hears, the God who sees (El Roi), and the God who still restores. Through the cross and resurrection of Jesus, your failure is not final, your wounds do not define you, and your past doesn’t have to determine your future. Watch or listen to “Sarah & Hagar” to learn how to: • Recognize the danger of trying to “be your own god” • Return to trust in God’s timing and promises • Bring your regrets, shame, and pain to Jesus for real healing • Receive hope if you’ve been sinned against, abandoned, or betrayed Join us next week at Believers Fellowship. 3. Two Kings, One Choice

    Two Kings, One Choice

In this message, “Two Kings, One Choice,” Pastor Seth Drewry walks through Genesis 14 and Abram’s encounter with two very different kings on the road home from battle: Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of God Most High, and Bera, king of Sodom. Using this pivotal moment in Abram’s life, Pastor Seth shows how every believer stands at a similar fork in the road between two kingdoms—the kingdom of God and the world’s system of pride, compromise, and self-rule. Pastor Seth explains how Melchizedek brings bread, wine, blessing, and a reminder that God alone gave Abram the victory, leading Abram to respond with worship and the tithe as a declaration of ownership and submission to God. In contrast, the king of Sodom offers a seemingly generous “deal” that is really a hidden bid for control and allegiance—mirroring the subtle compromises and temptations we face in our careers, relationships, finances, and daily choices. Drawing connections from Genesis 14 to Hebrews 7, Pastor Seth highlights how Melchizedek points us to Jesus—the King of righteousness, the King of peace, and our eternal High Priest—who nourishes, blesses, and defines our identity. The message calls us to examine who truly sits on the throne of our hearts, to resist the counterfeit offers of the world, and to surrender fully to Jesus as Lord in every area of life. If you’re wrestling with compromise, trust, or control, this sermon invites you to a fresh encounter with the King who has no beginning and no end, who gave you the victory, and who alone deserves your first, your best, and your whole life.
