    TAKING GROUND: A Man's/Father's Role

TAKING GROUND: A Man's/Father's Role Steve Parrish ‭‭‭‭‭‭TITLE: A Father’s Role SCRIPTURE: Genesis 12:1–5 (ESV) Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people that they had acquired in Haran, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. Platforming of Joseph Vision Trial = Preparation/Positioning Moment of Platforming Taking Ground - The PLAN to save a nation from famine As a Church: God has platformed us - opportunity to own ground Taking Ground Secure it $ Make it ours - hard work and $ (99th St Edition) Last Sunday of this month 3 weeks in and amazing results Bigger work will be the next three years Discover T-shirts in the connex SLIDE A Man/Father KNOWS* God Genesis 12:1 (ESV) Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. Galatians 4:8–9 (ESV) Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods. But now that you have come to know God... More than factual - experiential Revelation Waliking it out, making mistakes, growing Abram was a man who knew God A consistent growing relationship that impacted him It also impacted his family. As a man, this needs to be you. Consistent in your posture toward God Consistent in your spiritual disciplines Consistent in your engagement in church life Consistent in serving Consistent in your pursuit of the resources to do all of that. This is important for you, but more important for your family Imperfect but they know there is always a reset They know you are anchored to the ONE They know you have access to supernatural help The know you have a divine favor SLIDE A Man/Father Is Responsible To See His Ground Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV) Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” It’s the responsibility of Adam/Abram/Men to see and hear what ground is to be taken and to lead the journey well. Without God, you're not taking ground. You’re camping. QUESTION - A wife/children can get a vision of their own but it’s the husband's responsibility to confirm it (complimentary) and take responsibility for it. Great leaders see what could/should be - on earth as it already is in heaven! Illus: struggling to see the future of the church - now seeing SLIDE A Man/Father Leads His Family To Take Ground. He needs to determine how to get there. Right person, right seat Trial and error Hearing from God every time Exodus 13:21–22 (ESV) And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people. Joshua 6:2–3 (ESV) And the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor. You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. Thus shall you do for six days. You will start off thinking you are taking your ground as your family comes with you, but you will discover you are taking them to their ground so they can take it. Philippians 3:12 (NIV) Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

  2. THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: Rub Some Spit On It

THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: Rub Some Spit On It

THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: Rub Some Spit On It Jenn Davenport John 9:1-11 TPT: Afterward, as Jesus walked down the street, he noticed a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Teacher, whose sin caused this guy’s blindness, his own, or the sin of his parents?” Jesus answered, “Neither. It happened to him so that you could watch him experience God’s miracle. While I am with you, it is daytime and we must do the works of God who sent me while the light shines. For there is coming a dark night when no one will be able to work. As long as I am with you my life is the light that pierces the world’s darkness.” Then Jesus spat on the ground and made some clay with his saliva. Then he anointed the blind man’s eyes with the clay. And he said to the blind man, “Now go and wash the clay from your eyes in the ritual pool of Siloam.” So he went and washed his face and as he came back, he could see for the first time in his life! This caused quite a stir among the people of the neighborhood, for they noticed the blind beggar was now seeing! They began to say to one another, “Isn’t this the blind man who once sat and begged?” Some said, “No, it can’t be him!” Others said, “But it looks just like him—it has to be him!” All the while the man kept insisting, “I’m the man who was blind!” Finally, they asked him, “What has happened to you?” He replied, “I met the man named Jesus! He rubbed clay on my eyes and said, ‘Go to the pool named Siloam and wash.’ So I went and while I was washing the clay from my eyes I began to see for the very first time ever!” 1) JESUS SEES AND CARES FOR HIS CREATION John 9:1 TPT: Afterward, as Jesus walked down the street, he noticed a man blind from birth. Jeremiah 1:5 TPT: “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew you intimately. I had divine plans for you before I gave you life, and I set you apart and chose you to be mine. You are my prophetic gift to the nations.” Psalm 23:5 TPT: You become my delicious feast even when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my cup overflows. Matthew 10:29-31 TPT: You can buy two sparrows for only a copper coin, yet not even one sparrow falls from its nest without the knowledge of your Father. Aren’t you worth much more to God than many sparrows? So don’t worry. For your Father cares deeply about even the smallest detail of your life. 2) GROSS/HARD = PROGRESS John 9:3 TPT: Jesus answered, “Neither. It happened to him so that you could watch him experience God’s miracle. James 1:2-4 TPT: My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance. And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking. 2 Timothy 3:12 TPT: For all who choose to live godly as worshipers of Jesus, the Anointed One, will also experience persecution. Psalm 118:13 TPT: They pushed me right up to the edge, and I was ready to fall, but you helped me to triumph, and together we overcame them all. John 9:16 TPT: Then an argument broke out among the Pharisees over the healing of the blind man on the Sabbath. Some said, “This man who performed this healing is clearly not from God! He doesn’t even observe the Sabbath!” Others said, “If Jesus is just an ordinary sinner, how could he perform a miracle like that?” 3) OUR OBEDIENCE COMPLETES THE MIRACLE Deuteronomy 28:1-2 ESV: “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. John 3:21-22 TPT: But those who love the truth will come into the Light, for the Light will reveal that it was God who produced their fruitful works.” Then Jesus and his disciples left for a length of time into the Judean countryside where they baptized the people. Psalm 119:4-8 TPT: God has prescribed the right way to live: obeying his laws with all our hearts. How I long for my life to bring you glory as I follow each and every one of your holy precepts! Then I’ll never be ashamed, for I take strength from all your commandments. I will give my thanks to you from a heart of love and truth. And every time I learn more of your righteous judgments, I will be faithful to all that your Word reveals— so don’t ever give up on me! ~ Have a Blessed Week! ~

  3. TAKING GROUND: 1 - All Part Of The Plan

    Jun 7

TAKING GROUND: 1 - All Part Of The Plan

TAKING GROUND: 1 - All Part Of The Plan Steve Parrish ‭‭‭‭‭‭SLIDE SERIES: Taking GROUND  TITLE: It’s All Part Of The Plan SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:26–28 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Consider: ADAM Everything is topography/geography Creation, universe, earth Genesis 1:2 (NIV) Now the earth WAS (became) formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. God does not create formless, empty or darkness Satan thrown to earth - destruction ensued Revelation 12:7–13 (NIV) Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.  But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.  The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.  Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.  They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.  Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”  When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. Luke 10:17–20 (ESV) The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”  And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.  Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.  Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” His Spirit hovers over situations incongruent with His will rachaph (934b); a prim. root; to grow soft, relax:—tremble God was about to take ground back Genesis 1:26–28 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Eden was a small part of ground that God had taken and established for Adam to expand. And God has been using man to take ground one step at a time. Consider: ABRAM/ABRAHAM Genesis 12:1–3 (ESV) Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Consider: JACOB/ISRAEL Genesis 46:1–4 (ESV) So Israel took his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation. I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again, and Joseph’s hand shall close your eyes.” Consider: MOSES Numbers 27:12 (ESV) The Lord said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. Consider: PSALMS Psalm 139:13–17 (ESV) For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Consider: JEREMIAH Jeremiah 29:11–14 (ESV) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. Consider: JESUS John 1:43 (ESV) The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Mark 1:16–18 (ESV) Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him. Luke 18:22 (ESV) When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Psalm 139:13–17 (ESV) Philippians 3:12 (NIV) Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

  4. JOSEPH: Final Prep For The Platform

    May 31

JOSEPH: Final Prep For The Platform

JOSEPH: Final Prep For The Platform Steve Parrish ‭‭‭‭‭‭Genesis 41:14 (ESV) Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. 2026 WORD - You are transitioning into a Josephetic platforming during this next season. The previous seasons have included calling, obedience, a shoulder to the plow with a reliance on effort and savvy to fulfill that call. This required extra effort and produced small gains. You have navigated a series of deserts both internal and external, some self imposed. You have navigated in seclusion while in plain sight, but it’s in this time you have been prepared for the season ahead. You could have easily walked away from the specific future I have for you, one of impact, abundance and generosity, but instead, you leaned in and embraced the grind. In fact, you became a people who found joy in the grind, creating an aromatic outpouring, like the crushing of grapes, a superior blend of fragrant wine chosen for presentation to a specific audience, who are also being chosen on purpose, for a purpose… in this region. This platforming is not just within the church. This platforming will ripple through the church into various spheres of influence. You have been hidden but I am beginning the strategic process of platforming you. Where you once produced by means of addition, you will begin to produce by means of multiplication. The season behind you has been the crucible of preparation for the next season. In your platforming, as Joseph, you are to lean heavily into glorifying my Name as the source of your platforming and story. My platform for you becomes your platform for me to initiate similar stories and platforms in them, for them and through them. Believe me for the above and beyond all that you could ask or imagine. You will be the instrument of salvation, redemption and transformation of many. It was 13 years from the time Joseph had his dream and was sold into slavery by his brothers to the moment he was released from prison. He was 17 at the start, and 30 in this chapter. He could: Have could become an adulterer He could have remained a prisoner for life He could have become bitter He could have become revengeful He could have become a victim He could have given up on a God-given dream Genesis 41:14 (ESV) Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. FINAL PREP: SHAVE The hard parts of your story and their impact on you. Long beard Deprived Limitations Hardship Circumstances that could have cut away have instead shaped you into the better version of yourself. The story instead must be told because it cannot be seen in you. You can’t enter the king’s presence without being shaved. You can’t step onto your platform without being shaved. Your story should be something you have to tell because they can’t see it in you. You can’t be a victim You can’t villainize people, situations… or God Isaiah 54:17 (ESV) no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.” Genesis 50:20 (ESV) As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. Luke 23:34 (ESV) And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”  The story you tell becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Get it right! Tell the story of God’s promise, His perfecting and His faithfulness FINAL PREP: PUT ON CLEAN CLOTHES,What You Wear - Identity (great identity, high calling)  Clothes, unkept & dirty Prison clothes Circumstances that could have defined who you are instead helped bring about God’s best in you. You refuse to remain in prison, live in prison clothes or banish others to prison because HE HAS FULFILLED HIS PROMISE IN YOU AND THROUGH YOU. You can’t enter the king’s presence with your dirty clothes You can’t step onto your platform with the clothes dirtied with your past. Genesis 42:8–9 (ESV) And Joseph recognized his brothers, but they did not recognize him.  And Joseph remembered the dreams that he had dreamed of them.  People should not recognize you, nor what you’ve been through. Genesis 45:4–5 (ESV) So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.  And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. Psalm 23:5 (ESV) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

  5. THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: The Axe Head Floats

    May 17

THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: The Axe Head Floats

THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: The Axe Head Floats Jordan Wisdom 2 Kings 6:1-7 (ESV) Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us. 2 Let us go to the Jordan and each of us get there a log, and let us make a place for us to dwell there.” And he answered, “Go.” 3 Then one of them said, “Be pleased to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.” 4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, “Alas, my master! It was borrowed.” 6 Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float. 7 And he said, Take it up.” So he reached out his hand and took it. 1) Work - towards what God’s calling you to God’s Purpose and his promises in this present world Verses 1-3 Message Version: “You can see that this place where we’re living under your leadership is getting cramped—we have no elbow room. Give us permission to go down to the Jordan where each of us will get a log. We’ll build a roomier place.” The prophets first Demonstrated Initiative – in this example it’s initiated tied to “ministry growth / expansion”; but what do we know about Ministry?! As followers of Christ it happens all around us. Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Ministry in…. In our relationships In our workplace In our schools Serving our students / serving our clients Our lives are to reflect Christ and Christ’s ministry As a parent, moments of challenge are moments of ministry – investing God’s God’s word says, “I know the plans I have for you…” “I will give you the desires of your heart”. Those PLANS those DESIRES are not our selfish wish lists, they are ordained by God and revealed to us by His spirit – our free will accepts them, embraces them Work is ministry - as a follower of Christ Signing your employees checks Approving your teams time cards Managing your department budget Developing a strategic plan to balance sustainability and growth For our plans, for our job, for our family - they take work – they take initiative - and since they are from God, only God can truly do what he has called to be done. There is going to have to be a miracle because things are not always going to go as planned. 2) Speak Out - the Need for the Miracle Verse 5 But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, “Alas, my master! It was borrowed.” I cannot imagine this was quiet – the need for a miracle had to be declared Can you hear it?! - “Oh, no, no, no, no, no!” The “son (figuratively) of the prophet” had to make his need for a miracle known to the prophet – a leader in his community When we need a miracle, speak it out. To God - His heart is for relationship with us. That we can come to Him with our every need, failure, and fault. Psalms 142:1-2 (ESV) With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord. I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him. To fellow believers - Humans are made for relationship and community. Paul recognizes this in the book of Galatians. He writes, encouraging believers to “call each other up” from sin AND to “Help each other out” - be there, share in the need, the vulnerability, and then when the miracle happens the rejoicing and celebration of what God has done. Galatians 6:2 (NIV) Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3) Testimony After The Miracle 1 and 2 Kings, is about, yes, you guessed it, THE KINGS - and it is about the people of Israel going down-hill due to their decisions. But Kings is also a narrative about THE PROPHETS and their calling God’s people back to Him. There are miracles of God leading into this story, … and then the Miracles continue to happen after the story. In this chapter alone. Listen to this list! The army under siege, so God provides a miraculous victory through an abundance of horses and chariots of fire that caused blindness in the enemy - remember that ax head that floated? Famine that caused inflation (I’m telling you, this is what happens when you ask the econ major to speak, I get going on inflation) that turned into canabalism out of desperation - but remember, the ax head floated That same famine then turned into a bounty on Elisha's head, But God brought a radical end to the famine - and remember, that ax head floated. It seems insignificant - the ax head - in the context of miracles that preceded and followed. But it’s a marker in time. A testimony of what God did. And what God has done, he will continue to do. Our take away from this miracle is the confidence to know that if we can identify one of our ax head moments, we can approach our next situation knowing - and looking forward to - and claiming in advance - the Miracle that only God and do! I look at my life, I see the miracles God has done - in relationship, in provision○ In this room, my friends, same thing. Just last week the lobby team praying for another miracle for a friend taking the next step into where God is calling his family - But I see so clearly all the miracles God has already done in their world, the impact of those answered prayers on so many others, and it only builds my faith to know that God is going to show up big again. Best miracle of all – God calling us into radical life changing relationship with him Ephesians 2: 1-7 (NLT) Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world.[a] He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. The ax head wasn’t just a miracle for a book and a flanelgraph story – it was a miracle in a line/chronology of miracles – testament to God’s sovereign grace and provision. The ultimate miracle in our story as a Christian is that of Salvation – For He (GOD) Raised US from the dead along with Christ! That is the miracle that puts other miracles in my life into motion.

THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: Mother's Day 3x10

THE MIRACULOUS OF HEAVEN: Mother's Day 3x10 Valerie Wiese, Bethany Schermerhorn, Alana McClintock Alana McClintock: Rahab Scripture:  John 15:4-7 (CSB) - “Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me. If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.” Bethany Schermerhorn: Mary Scripture: Luke 1:31-33 (TPT) - “You will become pregnant with a baby boy, and you are to name him Jesus. He will be supreme and will be known as the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God will enthrone him as King on the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign as King of Israel forever, and his reign will have no limit.” Luke 1:38 (TPT) - “Then Mary responded, saying, ‘Yes! I will be a mother for the Lord! As his servant, I accept whatever he has for me. May everything you have told me come to pass.’ And the angel left her.” Luke 2:6 (TPT) - “When they arrived in Bethlehem, Mary went into labor, and there she gave birth to her firstborn son.” Valerie Wiese: Don’t Be Afraid Scripture: 1 Kings 17:15-16 (NLT) - “So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.” 1 Kings 17:22-23 (NLT) - “The Lord heard Elijah’s prayer, and the life of the child returned, and he revived! Then Elijah brought him down from the upper room and gave him to his mother. “Look!” he said. “Your son is alive!”

  7. JOSEPH: Infusing Life With Your Words

    May 3

JOSEPH: Infusing Life With Your Words

JOSEPH: Infusing Life With Your Words Steve Parrish ‭‭‭‭‭‭Scripture:  Genesis 1:26 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Proverbs 18:21 (ESV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Joseph delivered LIFE/DEATH with his words: Genesis 40:1–23 (ESV) Some time after this, the cupbearer of the king of Egypt and his baker committed an offense against their lord the king of Egypt.  And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker,  and he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison where Joseph was confined.  The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be with them, and he attended them. They continued for some time in custody.  And one night they both dreamed—the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison—each his own dream, and each dream with its own interpretation.  When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled.  So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, “Why are your faces downcast today?”  They said to him, “We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them.” And Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me.”  So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him, “In my dream there was a vine before me,  and on the vine there were three branches. As soon as it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters ripened into grapes.  Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”  Then Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.  In three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office, and you shall place Pharaoh’s cup in his hand as formerly, when you were his cupbearer.  Only remember me, when it is well with you, and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house.  For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit.”  When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I also had a dream: there were three cake baskets on my head,  and in the uppermost basket there were all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head.”  And Joseph answered and said, “This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days.  In three days Pharaoh will lift up your head—from you!—and hang you on a tree. And the birds will eat the flesh from you.”  On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants and lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.  He restored the chief cupbearer to his position, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.  But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.  Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.
