If you like adventure games, or games in general, listen to this podcast. Amazing interviews and reviews! I’ve yet to find a podcast I enjoy as much as this one. It’s inspired me to get creative again. 10/10

There is no better podcast on the internet addressing the adventure game niche. Period. Historic fans of the genre being well-informed and just enjoying what they love.

As someone who grew up on classic adventure game titles like “Myst” and the “Space Quest” series, and continues to revel in newer adventures like “Unavowed” and “Lamplight City” — this is a weekly podcast that I look forward to more than most others. The show is hosted by an affable Irishman whose love for the genre comes across in every episode. My favorite part of each show is the first fifteen minutes or so, where he recaps the week’s developments in adventure game news — exciting new releases, interesting Kickstarter projects, the latest awards or convention recaps, etc. Equal attention is given to “mainstream” titles (such as they are in the adventure world) from established developers, as well as to obscure indie titles that you may not hear about elsewhere. This show is one of my most reliable sources for discovering new games to play. Beyond that, the show basically follows an alternating structure. Every other episode is dedicated to an interview with the developer of a new or upcoming adventure game; and the episodes in between are “review” episodes of the latest games that the hosts have been playing (a co-host from the “Adventure Gamers” website joins for those shows). The focus is mainly on newer games, though the interviews with developers usually start with a discussion of their favorite classic titles (LucasArts titles like “Secret of Monkey Island” seem to be universal favorites, though lesser-remembered games like “Conquests of the Longbow” have also come up). The focus isn’t just on point-and-clicks; there is also sometimes discussion of other narrative forms, such as first-person “walking simulators”. I have yet to hear much talk of visual novels or “interactive fiction” text adventures (a recent episode being a prominent exception), so folks primarily interested in those genres might not find precisely what they’re looking for here. But if you’re a fan of narrative-based games in general, or adventure games in particular, this is definitely one of the best podcasts you can subscribe to!
