What Is Union with Christ? You Are in Him and He Is in You

Jesus promised we would know he is in the Father, we are in him, and he is in us. Most people picture God as near, watching from somewhere close by. What if the Bible says something far more intimate? In John 14:20, Jesus promises that we will know he is in the Father, we are in him, and he is in us, and this message from The Resting Place Apostolic Family in Tampa, FL walks through the Scriptures behind each of those three statements. Along the way you will hear what the Greek word for know actually means, why this union is where the Christian life begins, and how it changes the way people relate to each other. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. The life of the believer does not end in union with Christ. It begins there. 2. The Greek word for know in John 14:20 means personal, firsthand experience, not just agreement with a fact. 3. Embracing our union with Christ produces oneness with each other, because the Holy Spirit, not our unity efforts, makes us one. True Humility Is Not Thinking Less of Yourself (Matthew 23:12)

True humility is not being bad at things. It is trusting God to do the exalting. Most of us have been taught that humility means thinking small, staying quiet, and never being too good at anything, while the world keeps telling us to win at any cost. In this message from Matthew 23:12, Caleb Hyers of The Resting Place Apostolic Family, a church in Tampa, FL, looks at what Jesus meant when he said whoever humbles himself will be exalted, including a grammar detail in the verse that changes who does the exalting. Along the way he draws from Philippians 2, C.S. Lewis, and a personal story about a time he refused to be put forward. If you have wondered how to pursue success without exalting yourself, this one is for you. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less. 2. In Matthew 23:12, humbling yourself is something you do, while being exalted is something God does. 3. Courageous humility trusts God to provide your reputation, your connections, and your livelihood, so you are free to take the low place and serve people who cannot repay you. Identity Theft Protection: Guarding Who You Are in Christ

Lies, fear, and urgency steal identities everywhere. Discover why knowing who you are in Christ is the strongest protection. Every day you get messages telling you your account is compromised, your payment was declined, or you only have 36 hours to act, and every one of them is built to steal something that belongs to you. What if the same tactics are aimed at who you believe you are? Using firewalls, passwords, and two-factor authentication as a picture, this message from Luke 20 and Ephesians 1:13-14 explores what it means to bear the image of God and, in the Christian faith, to be sealed by the Holy Spirit. Press play to hear why knowing a person, not just principles, changes how you handle fear, shame, and the thoughts that never belonged to you. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. Lies, fear, urgency, and shame are the tools of every identity thief, and each one loses its power when you know the truth about who you are. 2. You bear the image of God, so your identity was given to you by God and is not something you earn or can lose. 3. You have been sealed by the Holy Spirit, and that seal marks you as secure and authentic in a way nothing can tamper with. The Good Fight of Faith: How to Keep Praying When You Want to Give Up

Why persistent prayer is the good fight of faith, and why you can bring your disappointment into the ring. Have you ever stopped praying because the last time you asked, it did not go the way you hoped? In this message from Luke 18:1-8, Jesus tells a story about a widow who refuses to quit asking a judge for justice, and the language he uses comes straight from a boxing match. You will hear why the fight of faith is a fight from the victory of the cross, not a fight for it, and what it looks like to keep showing up in prayer until the appointed moment arrives. Recorded at The Resting Place Apostolic Family in Tampa, Florida. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. The good fight of faith is a fight from the victory of the cross, not a fight for it. 2. Persisting in prayer means taking your case to the righteous judge, and when the appointed moment arrives, God acts without delay. 3. You rest so that you can wrestle, because the rest of your salvation is what equips you to keep praying when you want to quit. The Prodigal Son and the Older Brother: Why Both Sons Were Lost

One son ran from the Father, one performed for Him, and both forgot who they were. Most people know the story of the son who wasted everything and came home, but fewer notice the brother who never left and still refused to come inside. In this teaching from Luke 15, Deanna Hurley of The Resting Place in Tampa walks through both sons, the Greek words underneath the story, and her own journey out of an overachiever identity. If you have ever felt too far gone for God, or felt like you have to keep earning His love, this conversation will meet you where you are. The question underneath it all is simple: who gets to tell you who you are? KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. The far country can change your circumstances and your reputation, but it cannot change what the Father calls you. 2. The prodigal and the performer both measured sonship by behavior, and the Father went out to rescue both of them. 3. You do not get to receive your identity as a child of God and then cut someone else off from theirs. For more great resources like this, head to http://trpfamily.org #TRPTampa #TRPFamily

Reconstructing Dad: How Jesus Unveils the Father and Ends the Orphan Spirit

Why you keep striving, hiding, and blaming, and how Jesus shows you a Father who has always adored you. Why do so many of us feel like we are on our own, no matter how much we believe? Chuck Ammons of Overflow Church in Tampa Bay shares how losing his father at age six shaped the way he saw God, and how one encounter in a hotel room in Naples, Florida changed everything. Walking through Exodus 32 and John 14, he names the orphan spirit, the belief that it is all up to us, and shows how fear, shame, and pride keep people climbing ladders and running on hamster wheels. This message, delivered at The Resting Place Apostolic Family in Tampa, is for anyone who has ever wondered what God is really like. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. The orphan spirit is the belief that when push comes to shove, you are on your own to protect, provide, and promote. 2. Fear, shame, and pride are prisons of our own making, and each one is answered by a Father who has always been for us. 3. Jesus is the exact imprint of the Father, so how the Father approaches, loves, judges, and feels about people looks exactly like Jesus. Why Rushing to Serve Others Is the Real Path to Greatness

Jesus flips the ladder to greatness upside down, and it starts with kicking up dust to help someone else win. Everyone wants to be great at something, but most of us have no idea what the Bible actually says about it. In Mark 9, Jesus watches his own followers argue about who deserves the top spot, then flips their whole framework upside down. Instead of chasing status, he points them toward servanthood, holding up a child as the picture of what true greatness actually costs. This message unpacks two Greek words that redefine what it means to serve, and asks a simple, uncomfortable question: are you rushing to help someone else win? KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. Jesus never rebukes the desire to be great, he redirects it toward serving others. 2. The Greek words for servant and slave point to someone who rushes toward the need, not someone who waits to be asked. 3. The most dependent people are often the most difficult to love, and that is exactly where greatness gets proven. For more great resources like this, head to http://trpfamily.org #TRPTampa #TRPFamily

The Bread That Reveals: What Communion Exposes About Your Heart

A message on John 6 showing how the bread of life exposes true belief, false belief, and betrayal. What if the same bread that feeds you also reveals what you are really seeking? In this message from John 6, Jesus feeds a crowd of thousands, then exposes their hearts when they come looking for more food instead of more of him. Drawing a straight line from the wilderness manna to the Last Supper to Communion in 1 Corinthians 11, this episode uncovers why every mention of Communion in Scripture also mentions betrayal, and what it means to examine your own heart honestly before you come to the table. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1. The work of God is not a list of behaviors to perform, it is belief in the one he sent. 2. Communion has always been a moment of exposure, showing who truly believes, who is drifting, and who has already betrayed in their heart. 3. Discerning the body means caring for the people around you as much as remembering what Christ accomplished on the cross.
