This podcast is a fantastic take on a post appoclypse. It has a total cast and crew of only four people but each of them have given their all. It Phillip Callen is casted perfectly in his main roleas Phil which he plays very well making him feel like a normal real person. Alexander Danner who is best known for being the co creator of Greater Boston and doing the sound design for What's the Frequency, did the sound editing for Radio Free Mushroom America and he once again shows off his his mastery over sound. Every little element he adds fits the podcast perfectly adding to its beautiful atmosphere and turning simple monologues into huge journeys. One of the main creators and song writters of Fall of the House of Sunshine, Matt Roi Berger did the music. Matt Roi Berger's music fits the tone of the show perfectly. Even though all three of them did some of their best work, this is really Jonathan A. Goldberg's project. His writting is perfect not a word or a moment feels waisted everything feels important. These 4's work put together create a masterful emotional drama that perfectly captures the feeling of a post appoclypse world. The idea of a mushroom appoclypse may be ridiculous and at times is treated a such but it stil captures an emotional weight which keeps it from feeling too silly. It is very heavy though and even though at this time it is all out. It is not the easiest binge. I do not think this podcast is for everyone with how heavy it gets at times and how exsausting it is. It is short with only 9 episodes overal each about 40 minutes but at times can feel a bit too long. This podcast is hard to get through at times but that is more a strength than a weakness. But if one is a fan of podcasts, loves post appolypses, likes a good character study or just wants something unqiue, I could not reccomend this podcast enough. It is worth it to at least give it a try.
